I always say there is no such thing as the `best player ever` because different players have different strengths & styles... but I think there is a select group of maybe 5 or 6 players that can claim to be as good as any player ever was... johan cruyff is part of that select group... he might even be the most complete of the lot, amazing player, a true artist.

Rinus once also criticized him for not doing his Midfield defensive duties and involving more in the attack. In short, we can say with Michael it was in the embryo form and with Cruyff it was born.

To be honest, back then it was very bad footballing. Cruyff was good at evading tackles and showed turns and finishes that might even impress to the day. In heinsight it is ridiculous. Seens like a game of Sunday football of wannabe professionals who decided not to defend.

He is good, but it seems the kids who have seen messi have seen the second best to pele.

At Ajax he was more of a soloist, he could dribble just as well as Pele and Maradona when he wanted to and was very fast as well.
