I was AME also my Pastor called me and told me about after he had just retired. He was really side tracked and let down after his years of dedication.
I later left the denomination.
My. father is an AME pastor as well and this definitely changed his plans. But I will definitely keep my foot on the gas with this issue.
I dont trust any entity that only has one person handling money.

COMMENTS: Thank you for sharing the information concerning tantamount Pension Denial for Clergy and Pastors. This status is similar to all Police and Military that it is not different as to its futuristic outcome. Just to give you an overview concerning the Pension for Clergy and Pastors of the Episcopal Methodist Church,as per out I know being that I am also in Sabatical Leave and prior under this denomination prior to my move the the US Military Reserve. 1) The clergy and Pastor pension plan were not paid to the Social Security Administration rather you are all are with Duepiont Pension Insurance Fund which is a Private Entity established in 1984 under the Government of the Episcopal Bishop Nemecio Nacpil and Arch Bishop Mariono Cabral check Security Exchange Commission Records as a Guide. 2) Being that it is a Private Entity, like the bonds it is the Archbishop and Bishop that will give the TASK NUMBER for the release of Pension. If they die then the Pension is dead because it is like a Bond. 3) I know we honor and Respect God in Spirit. Neverthless, we owe to give respect to our TOP OFFICIALS because they are not only our Guide but our Security and Safety interms of Pension and Job Placement. I do symphatized with your predicament but you can not sue the INSURANCE especially PENSION INSURANCE PLAN because when the Leader changes the Bond is Desolved. I hope this will help you in the quest of your inquiry.

It was not the pastor's money, it was the church and the money from the members had to paid
That’s not all the way accurate. These pastors more often then not put their own money to make sure this was paid. Pastors have mortgaged their homes etc. Because if it was not paid, you could lose your church. So, the members helped as they should, but ultimately pastors paid into their own. Also, they can pay into their own retirement outside of the members as well which many have done.
