    Ed, this video is a godsend. Every new electronic gadget that comes out adds another layer of complexity that the Manual simply does not address. I consider that Godex ought to have commissioned you - and rewarded you handsomely - to produce this as a service to their customers. More power to your arm!

    Just got a sony this past year and was having trouble getting it to sync with my other goddox/flashpoint (canon) flashes including the ad200...this video saved my sanity! A note to other sony users I had to turn my "wireless" flash in camera to "off" for it to work, tried both ways and soon as I turned the feature in camera to on only the flash (flashpoint sony) in hot shoe fired, turned it off and all fired and was able to control output from master flash. I only have a Canon goddox trigger system and still have Canon cameras but now I can use my system with my sony!

    Thanks for this - you explain things very well. One thing that still puzzles me is this: I have an X1T on camera (a7R III) and a TT685 set up as wireless slave. With M mode on the camera, the shutter speed isn't limited to 1/250, since it can be set all the way up to 1/8000 with no visible shutter curtain blackout in photos, as if HSS is operating. When I check the SYNC settings in every mode on the TT685, they're all 'off' and, of course, there isn't a SYNC option in wireless slave mode, so it must be defaulting to HSS = On. Is that right?

    • @edverosky
      @edverosky  4 роки тому

      Correct. They'll automatically trip up to HSS at higher shutter speeds.

    Godox has changed the TT685 for Sony. It is now TT685 II S. What was the mode button is now a Menu button, the lock/unlock has moved to the wheel where it is treacherously easy to engage accidently, Function button 3 has multiple purposes. AND their new manual does NOT correctly reflect their new layout. Theoretically it is supposed to be compatible with the new a7 iv without a controller but no one seems to have been able to make that work.

    Thanks Ed! You explained the basic settings very well! The Nikon version (I'm using vs 3.2) is a bit different though, but the basics are the same of course. I observed that the flash shows the HS symbol automatically when attached to the Nikon D750 which is also set to HS (called Auto FP in the menu). The same with Canon?

    • @edverosky
      @edverosky  5 років тому +1

      Ah, thanks for mentioning that. It would seem that each version should behave according to the manufacturers’ proprietary way. On my canons, in the past, the HSS was turned on by the photographer and then only kicked in automatically in certain lighting conditions, or if the flash sync was exceeded.

    I'm doing some REP where I'm going to be walking away from my camera-tripod setup and triggering with a remote for Flambient blending.
    I want to be able to change my speedlite settings while it's in mind without having to walk back to my tripod to change it from the X1Ts transmitter - because the X1Ts keeps overriding the flash settings.

    • @edverosky
      @edverosky  3 роки тому

      Off the top of my head I think you could switch the flash receiver off radio mode, possibly change the flash’s channel or group. If you have an x2t you can control via app away from camera position.

    • @x_jaydn
      @x_jaydn 3 роки тому +1

      @@edverosky I'll give it a shot. I was thinking of trying optical mode set-to-ON for both the X1Ts transmitter and the TT685 (mine is actually the NEEWER equivalent NW880S). If my supposition is correct in that optical mode only triggers a Shutter release rather than also providing the flash settings then... Maybe it could work?
      That being said, my supposition could also be wrong.

On the Sony these are grayed out options in MSAP. Dumbest crap I have ever seen. Same with my A6000. That has built in flash, and the Flash OFF option is not there in MSAP modes, only AUTO... Sony must have some reason for this!! I see you have no responses either. Only option is to manually turn off the damn speedlight with its own power button.. How inconvenient
