I'm actually interested in this as I've been looking for a portable retro mini console to play snes, gba, nes and gb games. I own a gameboy micro, gba backlit mod, retroboy, and pocket go. They all have something worthwhile but fall short in many ways. I'm curious on how this handles mode 7 games like star fox on snes ,iridion 2 on gba and big patched snes games like choas seed, tales of phantasia ,and star ocean. Also can you connect 2 controllers for 2 player games?
For the insane price, I'll take an rg350 thanks. It's "novel" but that's about it.. I suppose they want to make money and it took time and effort to develop, but for another 30 bucks I can get the new handheld from analog...
At this price point it is just not an impulse buy. If it was a bit lower around $99, they would sell more. A pocketsprite starts at $69. I guess the R&D was high enough.
BIG THANKS to everyone for the feedback, and participating in the giveaway! We dropped the price of the handheld and also are holding raffles on my Instagram account for those who still want a chance to win a Cartboy at a lowered price! :D
I wonder if someone could make a case for the Gameboy micro circuit board and everything that makes it look identical to a Gameboy Advanced and even has the buttons feeling more like a Gameboy Advance that be awesome
@@MY3DCO seems to be about $130. at thats in the colors that its cheaper. i want blue anyway, but its still too expensive for me. its cool though, i vaguely get why its so expensive.
Funny toy but nothing more than that, especially with that price. It maybe okay for collection or as experiment on "how more tiny it can only become" but playing on it will be a hell, just like how I tried to play Rockbox games on Sansa Clip Zip. I had GPD XD for some time that have size and design similar to Nintendo 3DS and that is what was comfortable for my big hands so imho the lowest size good console for everyday painless use can have is something like Gameboy mods(or RG300) with ~3" display and normal button sizes, if these is a must for it to be of "cartridge" size it would be way more practical just to use real SNES cartridge or better some bigger cartridge from other old consoles as a shell, for sake of retro style it's lower part with can be saved and reused with custom dock station to connect it to TV and full-sized gamepads, that would be way simpler but still good.
Who the hell would want a small handheld?. Our eyes are going to get all squinted up just to see it. Also when you get older our eyes get badder. It would be good for a paperweight though😄.
I have an idea that I wish you could try Could you Make a game boy that could also have an mp3 mode, (of course with a jack so the speakers don’t have to do all the work) This might be imposible since I don’t know anything about software But it would be pretty cool to see a mix between consoles and music.
Congratulations on your silver play button, you have hella earned it. Keep in making and playing these tiny systems and we are happy to have you in the community.
Considering they are offering it only as an assemble unit, and it's not a community driven project with tutorial, shared files and kit offered, I'll treat them as a company that makes a product: in 2019, with the RBPi Zero capable of emulating the PSX at a respectable framerate, you can't afford not to have R2 and L2. To me, not worth buying. There are better products out there, not this small, but small enough.

Was just about ready to buy 3... because, in my mind, a Raspberry Pi Zero based console with badly 3D printed casing would never cost $169. Talk about milking nostalgia. Thanks, but no thanks.
@@MY3DCO $129 is better, but considering the additional $22.50 for shipping to Brazil, it's still a bit too much for me. I've signed up for the newsletter. I'll keep an eye for a price drop... thanks.
This looks awesome! I'm impressed that they were not only able to make it happen, but to realize that it was better to give up the depth of a single cart in order to make the final system that much better.
It's actually 129.99 now. It's definitely worth it at that price, at least to me. Specially because it's a complete console/handheld device. You don't have to buy the raspberry pi zero or rechargeable batteries to make it work. I was thinking on buying the GPI retroflag case but after this video I might just buy the cartboy. :) It's easier to sneak out at work ; )
Me: Has hands too big for a normal 3DS
Also me: HMMM YES A TINY HANDHELD
Even this little beastie has a headphone jack... Take notes, Apple!
It was a big feature we were very happy to be able to include. Who doesn't want VGM in your ears?! 😍
Yeah, because anyone with common sense understands one is essential
@cgwworldministries That's like buying a new phone without a speaker and saying "Including a useless feature from 1876? No thanks" to rationalize it.
@cgwworldministries including useless features like wheels in cars from 3500 BC? No thanks
In time: This is my new Switch inside of a Switch cartridge!
think My Mate VINCE has made a switch inside a switch cartridge
honeybb777 I can't find the video ):
That home screen face is adorable! 🥺
Great job with the review Wermy! Glad you like our handheld. Who would have thought modding gameboys and Pi's would lead to this!

So Crazy. Last video I saw of yours was the GameBoy Zero. I think you had a few thousand subs. Now you're over 100k. Congrats Man!
Great video, just ordered mine!
order one for me XD
Wow those look super cool. I've seen the CartBoy around but this is definitely a nice small device
ordered when it came out. cant wait till it comes.
Has it arrived yet? If so how do you feel about it?
@@vertonimal I enjoy it. It's small. Good to kill time. Like waiting in line for food shopping.
Hi I really want this but I don't know where to find it, what site is it on and would it be still available?
Congrats on the 100k and please keep the awesome content coming!
Congratulations on your 100k!! Way to go man.
That comparison made me realize how awesome it'd be to mod a Tiger LCD handheld into a RPi one.
Why do you think I got this one? ;)
very nice tiny console
next up, the sd boy, a handheld that takes micro sd cards and is the size of an sd card.
What's this? A console for ants?

You all should check out their Instagram posts. Their projects are really outstanding (especially the CartBoy Shell).
It's a great toy for a gift, but maybe the price and small screen could be improved. Hope they get success and get better and better!
Now this is a Gameboy pocket
You know what's up!

Great for on the go!
Or at home with friends!
What is this, a Gameboy for ants?!
Gameboy Advance, or Gameboy for ants?? ;)
It’d be neat to see one of those old Tiger handhelds modded to play real games.
That's pretty cool. Like it
That episode was really great
