@@markmark5269 plus going N/A 11k rpm on a swapped 1.8. Could not find what origin 1.8, but if going Toyota like, there could be a 2ZZ, or a stroked up 4A-GE or even a 4 A-FE :D I guess it has around 200-250 whp, and quite the amount of well placed downforce. Hmm around full 20k engine wise? Or did he go b18 etc, we might never know...
what a rush! grew up on an track w pops...we had an opel kaddet in the us..boreded out n cammed up..now this...just gives me goose bumps n a chub lol great job!
Thing I like most about it is he's got the rear end tied down properly - so many people run it too hard and the rear just skips around rather than actually helping control the car.!
GordonWG1 While I agree this team has done an excellent job with the setup on this car, a little 10k revving motor is not gonna put out the torque to really do any bullying. Waiting for 10,000rpms to arrive on this terrain requires a lot of faith while you got the sumbitch pegged. dat ass betta not skip! Scary!
tYpHoN i'll give you a hint - gearing! Way too many people just don't understand the relationship between torque, rpm, power and gearing - i hope you're not one of those who thinks torque refers to low rpm and power to high rpm? To put it simply, it doesn't matter if it's a low rpm/high torque or a high rpm/low torque engine - if it's producing the same power at the wheels, at the same road speed, it's been corrected by different gearing that means it's also producing exactly the same torque at the wheels. The usable power range of the engine is a different thing - some higher torque engines, eg. turbocharged diesels, may have a very narrow usable rpm range while some normally aspirated petrol engines can have a relatively wide usable rpm range. depends on the engine design parameters.
GordonWG1 Oh, even with a relatively narrow power range, the use of a close ratio gearbox*, especially a sequential one as in this case, means the engine will always be in it's working range - no waiting required. *You may also need to familiarise yourself with these?
GordonWG1 Ok professor, when you wanna pick your head up from the book and engage in the real racing world I can teach you some things. I was relating to this video because I've been racing and BUILDING all sorts of powersports vehicles for 15+ years. Great video, great driver and great car here! Now as far as your rating, first off there is barely any shifting goin on here, the driver can drink a coffee in between shifts, so maybe this isn't the best video for ranting about short ratios. Yes it's sequential yes it's short-er but def not the tightest short ratio by far. Maybe you should lecture him on it and not me. Secondly, i'm not sure what your trying to prove about power but yea sure the more area under the curve the better. I TRIED to make a FUN COMMENT and you're here squabbling with me about wheel torque on a car that is barely pushing 150ft/lbs. I daily drive a 400hp evolution 5 speed and the shifts are about half as short as this and I get it twice as sideways lol You prob got some slow ass car you have to constantly make scientific rationalizations about cause it's so goddamn slow. STFU
tYpHoN Just 15+ years? Seems like you've a lot to learn - including how to avoid coming over as a dumbass when apparently it's supposed to be a "fun" comment. As for the gearchanging - you see that little lever that he keeps pushing and pulling in the middle of the car? The one that causes the enge rpm to increase or drop? The one that he uses ever 1-2 seconds? That's the gearlever and each time he moves it he's changing gear. Now, go and have a think about the power/torque relationships at the engine and at the wheels and the affect gearing will have on it. Nice car you have, but if you honestly think you can change in half the time of the example here, you're dreaming and as you seem to have fail to notice, this car is a front wheel drive one on a hard surface - he REALLY shouldn't be getting it sideways, period. Quick test - what is the significance of the 5252 rpm point mean and how is it established? What is the 9550 point and what does it mark? I expect working. Heck, even a quick summary IN YOUR OWN WORDS of torque and power, in either imperial or metric terms, would suffice.
Yes she will be missed but it all in the name of progression, it was only a matter of time before he got the opportunity that he so rightfully deserves. Maybe if the car gets a new owner then who knows. You might still get the machine, but not the driver machine combo.

92 edition up til 98 was in capsule body style. You can upgrade the parts in between them one another. There are also GT version for 95 release. The 92 was 1000 cc, the upper year was 1300 cc.
THe Gear BOX someone tell me about that gear box. i have the engine similar to it. just need a wicked gear box like that. i have 4AG-E 1.6l with larger injector, Safc trumpets MSD ect.
He uses a sequential gearbox. You can get cheap ones from Quafie, the good one's cost a fortune from companys like Tractive, X-Trac, Hollinger, Sadev, Hewland etc. But the prices starting around £6000 depending on how much power output you will have you may need a stronger gearbox.
I never thought I would ever want a Toyota Starlet... Good Lord!
Far from a Starlet in anything but looks. Likely an XTrac gearbox for example at $20,000, still want one?
