    I also finally got to give the car a good clean after several weeks of freezing temperatures, snow and salted roads here in Norway. The car was very dirty and I wanted a good prewash to get the roadfilm and saltlayer off the paint. I have BH Surfex HD, Autofoam and Touch-Less, and prefer Touch-Less in the wintermonths. I'd have to use it neat (or 300ml which is enough to cover the car via MTM PF22.2 foamcannon) to get 5% PIR through the foamcannon, which is a bit too much product per wash.
    Inspired by this video, I mixed Touch-Less @5% in a pumpsprayer (50ml for 1l of prewash-soap) and presoaked the back and lower half - the dirtiest parts. Used 100ml Touchless in foamcannon to cover the whole car/giving time to dwell. I can live with 150ml product per wash.👍

      I agree, the volume of product that you need to use when using as a snowfoam is just not sustainable, using in the way you have has more than halved the amount of product that you need to use which in turn makes the product much friendlier on the pocket. Ive yet to try Touch-Less as i still have a large amount of autofoam left but ill be sure to pick that up once i work my way through the AF

    To be honest ive watched loads of guys valeting cars on UA-cam and because a vehicle has been prewashed they've a habit of washing the car to the very bottom with the same mitt or pad then coming back up after rinsing it and starting the next door at the top ..... You're one of the few who I've seen wash the bottom separately

    • @DavidMcBay
      @DavidMcBay  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks Peter, I do find especially in winter time its good to do them separate. If the car is only a bit dusty you can get away with one mitt, but when they have a heavy coating of dirt i think its best to do it this way to avoid scratching anything.

      If it's someone else's car it's the best way to do it .... Yes it adds a wee bit of time to the job but it's the safest way of doing it..... Look forward to seeing more videos

    I can barely motivate myself to clean 1 car in this weather and you've done 2 in one video 🤣

      Thanks Mark, being honest mate it was either that or DIY and i hate DIY so cars it was. I dont see me getting much opportunity now to get it cleaned over the next month or so.

    Can’t beat BH foams think they are probably the best on the market ,and I do alot of filthy cars on a weekly basis,it’s all about time and they do the job 👍

      I have to agree, whenever i try a foam that claims great cleaning power, this is allways the one that i measure it against. BH make some cracking products.

    Living in the same neck of the woods as you David, I decided to carry out a new process last week to try and avoid staying out in the cold weather too long. I used the BH AF via a snow foam lance, left to dwell for 10 or so minutes, thorough rinse off and then decided to try the contact wash with ONR and the Rag Company Ultra Black Sponge, finished off with AM Details Detailer+ as a top up for my current protection. The results were very good.Whole process took 40 minutes.

      Hi Martyn, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, it’s always nice to hear what other people wash procedure is for this time of year. How much autofoam did you use in your mix?

      I’m afraid I didn’t adhere to the recommended P.I.R advised by B.H. I mixed a stronger solution around 50/50. Not very scientific, however I only use B.H during the winter months so I can over indulge on the dilutions and not feel I’m wasting money!Keep up the great work!

    I'm glad you've tried this.
    I read plenty of comments where people use 300-500ml of AF per car (with a cannon). Through an ik sprayer I'm guessing you used 70-80ml of AF per car for serious cleaning power?
    I hope viewers see this method and are inspired to give it a go.
    Nice one

      Thank you mate, I have always been a fan of autofoam but this has really changed the game for me with it and it means a very inexpensive 5L of product is going to go so much further. I used 90ml of product in a full 1.5L IK Sprayer and got 2 cars and wheels out of it 🤯.

      @@DavidMcBay so you basically cleaned a car for 15p plus the cost of the other Snowfoam. Wow!
      Now, try the same with GT snow foam. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on that

      It’s well worth giving it a go, when the temp is low and the suns away you still get an excellent dwell, the foam just lets it work away that little bit longer

  • @decker0373

    Top job bud and, definitely going to give AF go as per this video.
    I did 2 cars at the same time about 6 weeks ago and, tbh, it wasnt too bad, especially because of the weather.
    I get why people don't like cleaning in the cold but i actually prefer it, it gives the chemicals way more opportunity to do their thing, just my view of it.
    All the best to you and yours for Christmas and the new year. 😊

    • @DavidMcBay
      @DavidMcBay  9 місяців тому +1

      Thanks Lee, doing the two cars certainly wasn’t the worst experience although it was made easier by how well the pre wash routine worked. Doing it in the cold isn’t the worst although I do just like to get the job done, on the flip side in the summer I feel like I’m rushing around so stuff doesn’t dry in on the paint 🤣🤣
      Thanks mate, all the best to you and the family aswell.

      @DavidMcBay it is really quite good. Its probably the best snow foam I've tried so far. You've got to try bilt hambers new Trace-less glass cleaner, it is a game changer. Check out the test video of it, it puts all the rest of the glass cleaners out there to shame. I've had some a few weeks now and it is honestly amazing. I never thought a glass cleaner could be all that special but bilt hamber have set the standard again

    Definitely worth a good spray of prewash (apc, citrus or snowfoam) before foam it just seems to eat into the grime more than a strong foam alone doesn’t it.
    I did my two the weekend for the first thing in about 2 months not simultaneously though. Was knackered after 🥱

      Couldn’t agree more Nick. I’ve always liked using autofoam, especially in winter but didn’t like how much product I had to use. This way seems a like it’ll make a 5L bottle go much further.
      I’ve done both at the same time a few times when it’s just a “quick” wash, I don’t enjoy it rite enough but needs must at this time of year! Roll on the nice weather so I can take my time and enjoy it again
