Unfortunately this is erroneous. Everyone is very much replaceable in the music industry. No one in the world thought Mariah Carey would be imitated/replaceable. Behold, then comes Ariana and completely took over her place as the queen of vocals. The same thing applies to Lil Kim. She was always referred to as the “Black Barbie” or “Queen of Rap” before 2010. Then comes Nicki and completely replaces her. The cycle continues on and on. At this point, it’s inevitable. Someone is ALWAYS inspired by another person. It is what it is.
But no one replaced Patti Labelle or Aretha, because it's impossible. It's impossible because the Arianas have good voiced and any good voice can hit the scene and sound like the last. But patti and aretha started with exceptional voices with unusual talent/ear. Then they have transitioned thru extensive eras/genres of music with live performance. That's why they can't be touched on stage and a newbie cannot imitate them like a mariah or whitney. Tons of mariah and whitney clones on talent shows but zero Aretha and zero Patti Labelle clones.

Very few singers would have that kind of opportunity unless they have a notable family background providing access. Unfortunately this is erroneous. Everyone is very much replaceable in the music industry. No one in the world thought Mariah Carey would be imitated/replaceable. Behold, then comes Ariana and completely took over her place as the queen of vocals. The same thing applies to Lil Kim. She was always referred to as the “Black Barbie” or “Queen of Rap” before 2010. Then comes Nicki and completely replaces her. The cycle continues on and on. At this point, it’s inevitable. Someone is ALWAYS inspired by another person. It is what it is.
But no one replaced Patti Labelle or Aretha, because it's impossible. It's impossible because the Arianas have good voiced and any good voice can hit the scene and sound like the last. But patti and aretha started with exceptional voices with unusual talent/ear. Then they have transitioned thru extensive eras/genres of music with live performance. That's why they can't be touched on stage and a newbie cannot imitate them like a mariah or whitney. Tons of mariah and whitney clones on talent shows but zero Aretha and zero Patti Labelle clones.
@@nesq4104 I agree, but add that they were also products of time and place. I personally believe there is someone out there in every generation that could be a another “Aretha” or I’ll say, true original. They just wouldn’t thrive in the economic structure we seem to have now in music. Although I really hope that isn’t that the case long term.
@@TheIgnoramus what your saying is not impossible. The difference is the experience/training. Aretha at a young age was surrounded by greats such as Mahalia Jackson. Very few singers would have that kind of opportunity unless they have a notable family background providing access. But there are likely numerous people with that innate voice undeveloped or just not recognized.
I agree with you, but when it comes to Azealia I don’t think there will be another. She was probably the most problematic, openly honest people about the racism that actually happens in the executive offices of the industry/how all rappers are paid by white CEOs

Azealia can be very punctual and intelligent. She also gets straight to the point and states clearly what she's getting at but she's been so damn problematic and colorist in the past, telling black women to pick her cotton, calling lizzo a mami, saying women of color should bleach their skin and that their ugly because of their natural god given features and constantly switching sides between Nicki and Cardi. She's just very erratic and her choice of words speak volumes about her character.
