pat came out in 1979 and was very big in the 8o:s she was always on the top ten on the charts! but gloria was very good 1983to 1992 in usa and over seas! just like other artistthe was bigger in uk, or japan or?? but pat and laura . sheena easton was hot in the 8o"s , very good times then!!!!
i remember being in a gay pub that had had its windows recently broken by unhappy locals.. we went it and the dj kept playing this song thru the night as everyone got more and more drunk.. was very funny...
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. You're obviously very passionate about your feelings and it may be a little difficult for you to separate your love for a wonderful singer and her image. My comments were not intended to demean Laura Branigan. As I stated earlier, I am a fan of hers, but I recognize she rarely looked like a star and more like a plain Jane.
She was shy. She admits that she was naïve about the industry. She didn't want to be a sex symbol, she wanted to be a singer. She tried to "suck it up", and went with a lot of belly exposing wardrobe, she even did a topless screen in a movie. She understood that music is sexual, and she felt sexual when she was on stage, and recording. She was also very shy. She really tried so hard to be brave about it. She's felt humiliated for both, being too sexual and too plain Jain. It's sad.
Are you kidding me? She had true stage presence not like the trashy singers of today. What makes her lack presence...that she is fully dressed and doesn't depend on flaunting herself to sell her music. Sorry she didn't flop and fling her body around to look like the pole dancers of today....get a clue...she more presence than any performer of today.
Give an example of female singer back in 80's who "dressed well"? Back then it was not a custom to perform in design clothes and burn millions to make a video. And this seems like a TV performance to me, it is probably a playback. A real singer like Laura was probably uncomfortable doing playback.
She had a great voice, but lacked stage presence. I am not bashing her, I think she was an awesome live perfomer. She looks kind of inexperienced up there. She needed some diva training...
Listen. Laura Branigan had a great voice, but she was did not dress well and looked like a plain Jane most of the time. Her image was frumpy and her videos (apart from Self Control) were cheaply done. I am fan of hers, so be honest to yourself. She did not look like a diva in any sense, she only had a diva's big voice.
A timeless classic beauty with a ferocious voice ~ RIP Laura..............

real divas are not trained, they are born with it! and laura branigan was borned with it!!! r.i.p laura we miss you :`-(
A very strong voice she had. Such a shame she's not here anymore. But now she's singing in heaven I suppose.

A shame this song wasn't more popular; it just missed the Top 40 in 1987. Laura was both beautiful and incredibly talented...she is greatly missed.

A great voice. A great talent. She died way to young.

Excellent
Even with a SAW song Laura was sensational.
Sadly missed.
Did you know that Stevie Nicks also sang Cry Wolf? It was a great song for her too..Laura is so awesome!
Laura, we miss you so much
....I love Laura Branigan, BUT, "Cry Wolf" was done by Stevie Nicks first...but I still love Laura! RIP Sweety!!!
So well said.

No, Laura Branigan did it first on Touch, that was 1987, then Stevie Nicks did it for The Other Side Of The Mirror in 1989.
The SAW agreement limited her live options. She hated that more than you did.
About 30, I'm guessing.

she had to flexible to do that
This is not live.

Maria Carey is truly a great singer but...I have seen her live...and she doesn't always hit those high notes...sorry to dissapoint.

I have seen Mariah in New York...she doesn't always hit the high notes...sorry.
Great song but too bad she had to lip sync it...I hate that.
