Thanks for making these. It helps me when I have to quickly introduce others to the series. Just wanted to mention, according to the Audio Books, the name Jaghut is pronounced exactly as it's spelled. Jag - Hut. Unless the narrator was mistaken. That's how I've read it ever since.
That's how I personally pronounce it in my own head, the pronounciation used in the video is based off of Erikson himself satying the word in interviews :) It's a very fun dynamic between reading things how I do in my head, discovering the audiobooks say some names completely differently, then finding out the author also says it another way haha. I prefer the way you pronounce Jaghut, it sounds better to me. Though apparently I've been saying Malazan incorrectly the whole time, but I can't bring myself to change that :P
It does get a bit hard sometimes since it can be very tricky to dance around a subject, but it's very fun! FA are probably my favorite fantasy race in terms of physical design so far. Also the Parshendi from Sandersons' Cosmere are amazing :)
@@gracelesspassion1750 I actually haven't read any Brandon Sanderson yet! I was trying to decide between the Stormlight Archives books and Malazan, and now I've been reading those for over a year. The plan is to start reading some Sanderson once I've finally finished Malazan.
Yeah, this is more for like brand new people who are just confused on the basics of the Founding races :) Kharkhanas completely changes the game haha! I'd love to do a Khark spoiler video sometime too
Lol yeah! I spent like 15 years saying it one way in my head, and it's very difficult to change the way I pronounce it. I've given up trying to change it, i just always feel awkward saying it the actual way
"tall skinny warcraft orcs" so you were imagining them as warcraft trolls :D
That's funny. I've always pictured Jaghut as Warcraft trolls.
Zug zug ;)
Me too!
Really well done. I've read the series a few times and think you did a great job avoiding spoilers.
Finally a proper Malden channel!!!
Thank you for this! Hard to find good malazan videos and this one was awesome

The subterranean press art of K'Chaine Kell Hunters was my favourite artist interpretation
jaghut my favorite race.
Good tastes.
I imagined the FA as a mix between SE's description and Cenobites from Hellraiser
That is definitely a great combination!
👍.
please make a video about the jaghut and imass wars.
I can't get over the way you pronounce jaghut :))
Jagoot!
Thought I was gonna get something on the Azath. Finished Forge of Darkness recently and it was my first look at them as actual figures.
Good vid!
Glad you're liking it :)
Can anyone tell me what soundtrack is used at the explanation of the foundation races. At 3:00
The song being used there is English Country Garden by Aaron Kenny, I found it on the Audio Library in the UA-cam Studio section :)
I can't imaging how hard these videos are to do while avoiding spoilers. Thanks a bunch!
EDIT: Only calling the FA 'Bendy Boys' from now on XD

An arthritis nightmare 😂
Isn't Gu'Rull the only shi'gal assassin with wings?
Azathanai... i just will leave this name here xD
Haha, this one is more for new people wanting more basic info :) Azathanai would be way in the deep end!
Have you read the Karkanas trilogy because a lot seems to be contradictory here

Lol pronounced "muh-lay-zun" according to Erikson.

My husband is finally reading the books. Thank god!!! I’m embarrassed to say a lot of things out loud because I’m sure I say it all wrong
