Please give a special "thank you" to the owner of Gorse for giving you and your viewers the opportunity to learn about her history and to take her on an enjoyable dramatic canal cruise. What a great, one of kind, hands-on experience for you. It was very thoughtful and generous of her to share Gorse with us. Your humor is a bonus. Thanks .
On the chug vs. purr issue, the auto-generated closed captions here in the great state of Texas, USA, have been auto-interpreting the sound the Gorse makes as [Applause]; while Aslan's closed captions are generally auto-described as [Music]. ❤
My family thoroughly enjoyed the "Travels by Historic Narrowboat Series," starring Gorse. The visual and commentary elements you decided to include told a "well-rounded" story; just perfect. Again, Captain Kevin remained undaunted during the "trials and tribulations" a narrowboater must sometimes face and negotiate. We always like the suspense of the canals, wondering what could possibly happen next to Kevin. Too bad Aslan missed the excitement, but she has had her share. Thanks so much Kevin. Cheers.
@@CountryHouseGent My apologies to the wonderful lady, who is Gorse's current owner, for presuming the owner was a "he;" lesson learned. She must be very proud of and chuffed with, Gorse's debut on the CountryHouseGent Channel. Also wanted to thank you for a "new word for the day" that I can add to my list; " provenance." Cheers Kevin.
Great you got back safe and what a lovely boat was it a dream come true for you kind of the lady to let you cruise in Gorse tc now Kevin till next time the oldies Ann n David 😉👋
so entertained by your Gorse experiences, Kevin -- again, you seemed to meet the various challenges put forward by the boat and the Lancaster canal without panic...enjoyed your aristocratic voice "you there, fix the weed problem" -- looking forward to seeing you sail Aslan once more...
Crud and cars in the canal?! Eeeks! Glad you weren't there when the car careened in. What a nice journey on Gorse and yes, always good to have a change of pace. -Cheers from Seattle!
Gorse:8, Kevin:10. Scoring broken down into categories: CINEMATOGRAPHY: 10, PRESENTATIONAL STYLE: 10, SARTORIAL ELEGANCE - scrub that - OVERALL SCORE: 10 JUST FOR "BEING KEVIN." Hope the creativity continues to flow.
Hi Kevin! I enjoyed this series indeed. Of all that Gorse has to offer, I think I was most impressed by the interior ambiance. I certainly appreciate the owner's desire to avoid anything unsightly on such a fine craft, but your list of mods are well taken and would be something I would desire as well. I know that there is so much more to getting a video together than is ever seen. All the more reason to appreciate your obvious commitment to a quality product. Cheers!
Superb filming and commentaries Kevin The comfort and joy to see you cruising our canals is so lovely. It's a lifestyle we once enjoyed and miss. Love love the engine sound not so much the lack of weed hatch and deep draft. When of course the canals were in use for their purpose I believe the canals were dredged to 4ft every where. Hence lack of use silting up and no dredging cause issues. Hope you're doing well Keep safe warm dry and virus free.
thank you Kevin, that was a fine series about a fine boat. When thin of a narrowboat, Aslan and Gourse are what I think of. I also really enjoyed your little tour around Lancaster and envrions. great series always looking forward to whatever you want to do.
Hahaha.. After a heck of a week I was so pleased to see this pop up on my alerts. Grabbed a cuppa, put my feet up and was ready for a relaxing moment. Within seconds the "heartbeat" of that dear vintage engine put me right to sleep..till ya blew the whistle!!! Loved the scoring, so nice seeing your appreciation of a vintage boat. Thanks for taking us along!! Cheers =^··^=
Thanks Kevin, for taking us along on this great adventure, which has been terrific and as always you have been very honest throughout. It's good to see that you have come through well with Gorse and you are doing ok. Take care and all the best. Stevie
This one had it all, suspense, drama, etc,I could hardly contain myself, a lovely chug along the canal it always makes me laugh when you get overtaken by someone walking a dog, Many thanks ☺ 🎭
These vlogs are just terrific and so much fun 👏🌟👍. Thanks again Kevin. So glad you’ve enjoyed yourself with the great experience even if you were on so well travelled and familiar waters 🌟. Joan
My week's been made! Thank you, Kevin, for yet another thoroughly enjoyable video. Gorse is a fine old lady, indeed. But I am sure you were quite happy to be reunited with Aslan. There are some beautiful stretches along that canal. Let's hope it gets dredged sooner rather than later. Now to wait with bated breath for the next video...
Another lovely day up in rural Lancashire ! Talking of no weedhatch, in the 70's, we were taking an ex Refuse towing barge, through Paddington basin. Whereupon, we were immediately assailed, by an immediate cessation of forward motion. What the h@## do we do now ? Everybody on board piled onto the bow of the boat, whilst my brother and I, tried our best, not to get into the water ! ! ! The bow lowered, the stern rose, exposing the prop., around which was wrapped all sorts of rope, wire-belts, clothing, and inner-tubing. Took us a good hour or so to relieve the prop of all that rubbish ! Loved your classification ! 8 is pretty good ! Stay safe, camping, I found those hilarious 555 ! Take care see you on the next one ! Stu xx
Gorse looks immaculate! Your videos are both relaxing and transporting. You must be a very patient man to live solitary on a narrow boat! I was a little jealous of that cappuccino! Thank you for sharing your journey. ❤
Every episode you did with the Gorse turned out so interesting. I’m glad the woman let you take her on the canal and that you used your videoing, editing, and reporting skills to bring this story to us. See you again with whatever else you have for us!
I enjoy every moment of your videos, Kevin! In this series, those giant Lego blocks that they used to replace the damaged bridge railing caught my eye as an especially interesting bit of modern Britishness.
There is no better sound than Aslan . . . the Gorse is a close second, very close! Thank you from the state of Delaware, USA. Safe travels . . . and thank you for all that you do to make it happen!
I enjoyed this series very much. Thank you, Kevin. A big thank you to the owner and previous owner as well. Also, I really enjoyed the camping episodes. Wouldn't mind more of that. Have a great Sunday!
Thank you so much Christian. Always a pleasure to hear how much the videos are appreciated. Agreed I would like to do some more camping and especially another form of travel 😉 Stay tuned.
Indeed, what an adventure! The travel certainly was challenging, and not the least bit boring! And for the record, I like the off-vessel bits (the towns and shoppes), and especially liked the camping!
a most excellent adventure shared. Thank you for taking us along. thoroughly enjoyable. I could listen to a loop of that engine all the time. Thanks....
Wonderful series on the Historic Narrowboat Gorse. Loved the history and the engine mechanics. As always a wonderful trip complete with countryside, canal blockages and CRT interactions. I await your next videos. Take your time….Thanks
Thank you to the owner of Gorse for allowing you to show us her boat, and to you for this program. Keep on "chugging" as long as you are inclined to do so.
I enjoy the sound of a vintage engine but, no offense to Gorse, Aslan's gentle pup pup pup is better than buh dup buh dup buh dup. Love your vlogs. cant wait for the next one.
Wonderful Vids of a Classic Narrowboat -- Make's me really appreciate Aslan's engine sound even more though -- Aslan is much more soothing than the Historic Boat's "knocking" -- :-) Thanks for the content! Keep it going and Be Safe out there! Peace!

Kevin, nicely done one of your better videos. Picturesque color contrasts of the season, autumn colors and dark canal water. Enjoyed you taking us into the city, seeing the shops and historical buildings. Thanks look forward to next weeks production.

Hoping to start watching your vids again soon. When you stopped, Alot of us stopped. I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy binge watching as the weather gets colder! Hope you got a 4k drone. And if you ever wanna throw in another motorbike vid (Itchy Boots style 30mph ) I'd be interested in that too.
