My guy. What is bothering you? If you can’t say what the difference is between an oil wash and Agrax Earthshade you’re not qualified to be criticising someone’s painting tutorial.
cmon dude, everyone's on their own painting journey, I'd be super sad if someone made a video like this about me after I'd shared something cool I was proud of :c
Not for the right reasons though I'm afraid :c If you look at a lot of these comments on your video it's clear people would like to see you do something different which maybe is a lil less mean and a bit more constructive, maybe your own painting tutorials or something? It's not too late to switch it up and see what works and makes people want to engage with your work more positively!
@@jhminiatures7867 no I know I saw those! I meant instead of this format! It seems you have much more positive engagement on those vids too which should be an incentive to do more!

One of the things I like about the Miniature Painting corner of UA-cam is that it's remarkably kind, supportive, and low-drama. My dude, WTF are you doing.
🤣 Really, you of all people Goobertown. My goodness, you've not watched any of my previous videos have you? Don't get me wrong, there's 7 years worth, but if you do you'll find I've talked about you too in the past.
Wow i watched 3 minutes of your whining. Ill stop here and then go over to the feral painter. Atleast he got something worth watching. geeez....get over yourself dude
Well - considering Oil washes and why they are good (if people are good using them - you can really F those up - most people do) - watching Marco Frisoni (NotJustMecha) Tutorials brilliantly show the power of those - and no - what he does with Oil washes can not simply be done with regular acrylics.
Brother, if you're gonna make lazy content critiquing others, the least you can do is learn how to properly record audio and not pan it to the left. Get a hobby.
The reacts are interesting, I thought your channel taught something like painting miniatures, for example, because you talk bad about so many things and techniques, but it's just a react channel where you talk bad about others hahaha
Oh and you wanted to answer 1 thing that oil washes do that water based acrylic washes can't. The answer to that one is pretty easy. Oil and enamel based washes have a higher capillary action. Meaning they seek out and pool in the recesses more. I don't hit an all over wash with a lot of my miniatures with oil washes, I panel line. But I think Miniac and a few other tutorials also show that you can purposefully leave an area of was behind and then wipe it back in a controlled matter to make a smooth transition into the shadows. It makes painting easier especially if you're like me and don't mind the smells and can handle yourself around potentially toxic chemicals. Also, personally, I find it significantly more satisfying to paint with oils and artist paints given the level of control that I can get. Everyone loves to sing the praise of Bold titanium white from Proacryl and that is a great paint, but you can get/make a better product for much cheaper by just buying a tube of artist grade titian white ink or paint and diluting it to the level you desire. My single tube of ivory black oil paint from schmincke cost me 10 dollars and lasted me now 3 armies and a smattering of individual pieces. and it's not even halfway through.
Seriously, the last thing the mini painting community needs is reaction videos. Especially ones that negatively criticise other hobbyists. It’s bad enough when you have to find fault after fault on the Gaslands COTM videos, but at least those people entered the contest and know what they’re going to get from you. Now you’re just doing this to other painters who are trying to share their hobby with the world? Grow up.
If it makes you feel any better, I've a similar issue playing it through UA-cam on my TV. No idea why, just poor audio quality from the recording itself I guess.
mate NGL you did not say ONE thing positive this whole video. I don't know if that's just your thing or not but the end result of this guys iron warrior looked good. I think maybe what you should do is sit down go over the points you made what he could do 'better' and show how he can on your own model. Like you said. You wanted to learn new techniques so if you're better then this guy help him out by showing how to instead of ''oh no why would you do that'' just some advice :)
Whats amusing is that The Feral Painter has more than twice as many subscribers at 29.7k and 29k of them watched the video in question with 1.3k of them giving it a thumbs up. This knuckhead can't even get a third of his subscribers to watch his stuff and "likes" weakly in the double digits. But who knows, maybe this is his new schtick to up his numbers, raggin on other creators. I wonder whos next? Dr Faust, Sam Lenz, Ninjon, Miniac, Lyla Mev, Vince Venturella, Roman Lappat. Oh please, please, please make a video telling viewers Roman Lappat doesn't know what he's doing.
This is hilarious 😂 , the rage bait , you've attracted the crem dela crem of of miniature painting creators they've closed ranks on you ...do it again 😂.
The Critique on the wash here is kinda brainless. The new citadel washes are significantly thinner than this dilute contrast mix. Adding additional layers of wash will add more layers dry layers of contrast medium. It likens the effect of putting multiple thin filters on something verses one slightly more opaque filter. The effect is visually different. Also. it saves time. Also Ratling grime is a unique color. Seems nitpicky to the extreme particularly given the fact that based on your most recent showcase... the metallic effect that he is able to achieve here is significantly more realistic than yours. This is either clout chasing, your acting delusional, or you're genuinely serious and comically wrong. Chose your path, white man.
You took time out of your limited experience on this planet to skeeze on somebody else's video(which took multiple hours), making ANOTHER video(again taking at least an hour)... for what? Dude, get help.
For the shoulder pad the guy he is critiquing is correct you absolutely should dilute the wash or contrast paint, you can’t just slap that over the yellow pad and get the same results that the guy he is critiquing. You are sad get a life brother
A lot of people are giving this video a hard time because of the negativity. But read through it, to hear if these methods work or don't work. I think there are some good questions asked, why did you do this if you can just do that. In terms of what paints to use, and what to water down and so on.
…this would be true, if he were actually *correct* in those ‘why would you do this, you should have done that’ moments. Correct criticism, no matter how brutal, can be useful- but there is scarce little correct criticism in here. One brief example being his inability to understand what makes Agrax Earthshade and oil washes behave differently, and why people use them for different applications. The description does SAY this is satire, and it may very well be that this is some elaborate caricature/character he’s playing throughout the video as a joke, which would explain some of it… or maybe he’s only using the word ‘satire’ to try and stay safe from UA-cam copyright. Either way, I’m not brilliantly intrigued by both- if he’s playing a satirical critic character, I can’t imagine what the pay-off is going to be. If he’s being sincere… I think the state of his own Iron Warriors models may have put a round through the back of his argument’s head.
@@toastle8005 Except that some of what he is saying is true. Some of the steps and thinning down of this and that is kinda pointless and lost in the paint of the model itself. It adds almost nothing if anything at all. Now maybe there is something to be said for "this is just a different way to do it, if you have these paints only" but that isn't how the video is presented in most of these cases if ever. It's just the artists or painters way of doing this shade or wash of X. Which I find often to be more convoluted then it needs to be and adds little value. As for the satire, I think that is some of the over the top reactions, it's clear that even if some of these things are mistakes or some of these things are worth criticism then they aren't worth it in terms of the semi extreme nature, I think that is where the satire is intended. I get it though, it's not everyone cup of tea. I have seen on many of these videos just people calling out and saying, "we don't want you in the hobby, you are so toxic" which in and of itself is toxic... kinda funny when you think about it that way.

There's nothing wrong with this video in all honesty. It's your opinion, your view, and you get enjoyment out of critiquing something to make it better. A lot of people in the hobby space for miniature painting are wrapped in cotton wool and they force positivity onto others or else it's 'toxic'. @@jhminiatures7867 - The problem is that a lot of people make content to please others, rather than making content to please themselves first. It's like, stop making content if you're going to get 'sad' if someone wants to critique it in a video because people critique it off of a UA-cam video anyway.
