It wasn't the Oregon layoff rust, it was Ohio State beat them down. It didn't matter if they took off 3 days or 3 months, they were in trouble when they got on the field.
OSU had the same 3 week layoff after the regular season as Oregon did after the Big 10 Championship and came out and beat Tennessee like a pegged goat. Given that, I 100% agree the bye week excuse is just an excuse.

Penn State is snake oil; Texas, Notre Dame, and Georgia all present unique challenges and advantages that leave little to no margin for error for their opponent. Kirby is clearly the best coach remaining in the playoff. Notre Dame has not yet fully unleashed their dynamic QB/RB tandem, or their opportunistic defense. Texas has the best player/best QB for the class of '21 and '23 on their roster.

Rich, None of the teams in the CFP field seem to have analyzed the Michigan game to see how the Wolverines handled the Buckeyes. I am tiered of everyone harping on the OSU receivers, however good they are. and not going deeper to get some insights on Michigan's game plan to keep everything ahead of them and not give up the big plays. Twice there was pass interference calls against Jemeriah which was deliberately done to take away the big plays and force the Buckeyes into a shorter field which Michigan was able to defend easily as it collapses the field and does not give much room for the OSU receivers. Again, TN, Oregon did not study this aspect of The Game. That being said, OSU is indeed a very good team, if not the best left in the field. But they are beatable!

So where is Michigan now? They certainly aren’t playing now. They’re sitting at home eating popcorn watching Ohio State win big for the last two games. Yes I’m Ohio Ohio State fan and yes, I do not like Michigan at all. They are cheaters and they are sitting right where they deserve to be, and yeah, Ohio State may have lost to them, but that last put fire under their butts to win the way they have these last two games and I’m sorry but Michigan deserves to be sitting on the couches at home because cheaters don’t deserve good things happen to them
