The one feature I have always wanted in SOD2 is to be able to expand the base. I would love to be able to expand the drive in theatre, add building points in the barricaded strip mall (on the roof specifically) or even either of the two camps. For example, for 3000 influence and 60 building materials, you could walk off the other half of the drive in. I’m typically against super bases but I think it would be best for long term communities.
@theoldmanandtheking for number 6 my community literally doesn't need beds so yup and if you are a new player you want to find people who doesn't take up beds or eat less that's my opinion tho but higher difficulty is something I i would change
I would have to say the rural police station is my favorite. Located in Meagher Valley for its ability to make smoke grenades. By far the most overpowered item against plague hearts for an overall cheap cost.
@@theoldmanandtheking The other great thing about the Rural Police station is the outpost around it. If you put one at the meds out post a bit southeast and one at the food(barn) in the northwest and you have 2 of 3 infection routes covered. That is one thing I do not see in all the "Base Vids" is can you defend it with outpost/can you block off zed routes into base to funnel them(block with cars). Like Take the Church on the hill in Cascade, you cannot jump the walls and there are only 3 was in if you block 2 with cars all the zeds have to go to the unblocked one to get in, making it very easy to defend.
I like the police station aswell because it has a build in ammo workbench for 9mm, shotgun and magnum rounds and with a upgrade tool you can also build 7,62mm Ammo and cover most of the ammo types you need. the nearby outposts are helping with getting food and meds aswell ^^
1) 23:46 Farmland Compound (Trumbull Valley) 2) 20:42 The Container Fort (Cascade Hills) 3) 17:46 Prescott Fire Station (Providence Ridge) 4) 15:33 Squelones Brewing Company (Meagher Valley) 5) 11:43 Red Talon Daybreak FOB (Trumbull Valley) 6) 8:01 Barricaded Strip Mall (Drucker County) 7) 5:46 Pterodactyl Park (Trumbull Valley) 8) 3:47 Camp Kelenqua (Meagher Valley) 9) 1:59 Church on the Hill (Cascade Hills) 10) 0:51 Wally's Bar and Grill (Drucker County)
I’m so proud of the fact that I guessed the two last bases just at the beginning, but we can all agree that the last one is really the most beautiful and fun base in the game
Might be fun to rank the bases by required number of survivors. All 8 man bases ranked against each other, all 6, all 5 and all 4. Might want to include Farmland in the 8 man category since it is clearly an 8 man level base.
Am I the only one who refuses to use amenities because of how OP it is? It essentially just removes a game mechanic from the game, and I'm honestly surprised it never received some kind of nerf in the game's lifespan. Personally, I would have changed it to allow you to build the large facility from Heartland (can't remember the name) that allows you to get free water and power at no cost. Still would have had the same effect but you'd have to sacrifice a large slot to get it.
Great video! Thank you for the detailed information... Also one little side note for having power and water outposts costing 2k influence, the main drawback is losing the outpost slot... You have to have to dedicate two slots for the utilities, AND you have to pay fuel costs... That's why the moment you unlock Builder legacy, facilities that provide water and electricity become practically useless... But the moment you have builder legacy, you have 2 slots saved + save on fuel + power and water...
Personally I don't like the Builder's Boon. I enjoy claiming utility outposts or moving into bases that offer them or building them myself if there's room. Never had an issue with fuel costs either. BUT, I am a conservative hoarder type player. 😁
Since I usually play on Providence Ridge, it's usually a toss up between Rusty Rosie's and Westen Builder Supply depending on what I need Having the Biker Kitchen as a source of passive influence and morale via moonshine and/or making ethanol for painkillers is great....but if I ever wanna just bunker up and hoard shit, Westen Supply with that warehouse storage and barbed wire fence all the way around is great too

wish thats the case, i realy like the lodges base but its location is just too bad, in fact most bases have bad location, the farm stands out mostly due to this.
@theoldmanandtheking I don't mind if the bases location has been fixed, but let the player custom their bases what we want, sorry about my bad English.
Not seeing the Weston Fenced Warehouse hurts my heart, people always overlook it without realizing how customizable it is and how when optimized, it's on par with some of the larger bases.
Quick question how do you have in each of the maps and bases so much points scraps fuel materials ect... is it some kind of cheat you used for the video or from previous safes
Nah no cheats here my friend, although I understand why you would think that. It's just a long time scavenging, budgeting and building up a stockpile. We've got a video on the channel that should help with gathering resources: ua-cam.com/video/kOrNCaCByLc/v-deo.html As for maps and bases, you can easily swap between them so long as you have an upgraded command centre (once it's upgraded, map exit points will become visible on the map). Hope this helps!
@@theoldmanandtheking i have no luck on lethal mode sadly and was hoping such a list would help me finish the achievements for it if you do make on i think the most needed stats are moral, defense, and supply
I'm going to vehemently disagree with the ratings. First of all the Container Fort is number 1 and Farmland Compound is number 2 at the very least. You considered location, but you didn't mention the map's landmark outposts once for ANY of the maps and that's a factor to consider for each of the maps as each landmark provides different options. The landmark outpost for Cascade Hills is an essentially free Staging Area which is a nice facility to have in most bases to negate the Material Cost especially if you're sticking around the map either because you want a permanent community to house your collection of items, keeping survivors for multiplayer, or simply want to take your time with the game. Material Costs add up if you don't have a Staging Area which means more forced Material looting or being down a large slot. No singular outpost even fully upgraded can match the amount of Materials you save by having the landmark outpost in Cascade Hills. Whilst you don't need to set yourself up for long term that demerit can be considered for ALL the large bases that require more influence to claim or survivors to claim. Camp Kelenqua should be repalced with the Police Station on Meagher IMO. If you weren't intending to stick around a map for an extended period of time the it's hard to beat the Police Station and honestly if you're sticking around it's easy enough to go from directly from a small base to a large one by building allies with a few Enclaves then mass recruiting once you have enough to make the jump, small bases can typically house 4 Survivors well enough and doing missions for Enclaves tends to not be and issue for the most part. All that said if you're taking an intermediate base or are a new player then taking the Police Station has a lot of merit due to it's built in Police Armory. Being able to make 9mm, .45 and Shotgun Shells at the armory WITHOUT finding a press can make a new player's life much easier or allow a player an option to stock up on ammo if they're starting fresh and haven't found a press. Whilst Camp Kelenqua might be the better home, you can't argue with the ability to make gun food if you prefer firearms to the more sustainable crossbows and those are some fairly common ammo types. Whilst the Police Station can't touch the Influence from Squelones, Squelones is more important for extended stays on the map since it takes time and effort to farm that Influence. The wait time to be able to trade it as each enclave only has so much Influence to trade with and the transport time to trade it are definitely more for a longer stay than instant gratification. I'll argue for Lundegaard Lumber Mill on Providence Ridge as well when you consider that you can have the Haven System from Trumbull if you so choose since you considered the free Daybreak facilities for the Red Talon Daybreak FOB. Lundegaard can farm infinite materials and the noise can be used to generate Sieges which when combined with the Haven System it makes the base that much easier and manageable whilst those Materials can be converted into Parts offsetting the Parts requirement to run the Haven System and you definitely don't need a Staging Area offsetting your Material cost when you can just make your own Materials whenever you need them. You can even sell the extra Materials for Influence if you're not getting enough Influence farming Sieges whilst making the those Materials.
Nice list, but I can´t understand why some players sobing about defense. Are they don´t have a fav. poolgroup where they stucked full of stuff from a previous game(s). And has stuff like RT tower, workshop, cleo defense core and as an builder leader even as a builder leader an sniper tower. I have more than 1.3k hours of game time in that great game, are these players don´t use like often their brain to only thinka little bit?
You don't meta game do you? If you did then you would know base defense is meaninglessness. Just dont be at your base. Problem solved. Got a Siege? Wait for it to start and drive away. Come back after the timer runs out and ..profit. For that reason Whitney Field not being on this list is a shame considering its a stronger church on the Hill. Then again im rocking "tough negotiations " on all 9 of my characters. Meaning i gain 1000,10 influence per Siege. If this was purely intended for new players disregard this comment. But for more seasoned ones....i give your list a 4 out of 5. Not too shabby!
I appreciate the 4 out of 5 and good tip on the tough negotiations! I don't meta game no, I just think it's a bit cheesy sometimes. I'd rather play the game with all it's intended mechanics and features, even if that does make it slightly more annoying.
