• Disturbed - The Brave ...
It is part of the bonus track collection "The Lost Children" Disturbed released on the 8th of November.
It's a song from Disturbeds new album Asylum - a bonus track which deals with the topic of the famous TV series Dexter. It's about a serial killer whose old friend is the death because his mother died and from this moment on he cannot stop murdering.
Lyrics:
They are the ghosts of innocence
That have awoken from my dreams
Welcome to your nightmare
Say good-bye to everything
All your past obscenities
They have determined where I stand
Echoing cries, in the time that it began
Hear me now
Feel my plea
There is no more time for apologies
Never let emotions
Take hold of me
Are you ready to begin your trip to the other side
Death is an old friend of mine
You can't escape your judgment
I hear them calling out your name
Do not beg for mercy now
You never showed any to them
Embrace your final punishment
There's not a soul to hear you scream
I have to thank you for letting out the animal in me
Hear me now
Feel my plea
There is no more time for apologies
Never let emotions
Take hold of me
Are you ready to begin your trip to the other side
Death is an old friend of mine
The blood became alive
When I was trapped inside
And I can feel the dark passenger coming
My mother's blood and mine
Uniquely intertwined
Help me father put your memory from my mind
My hunger to destroy
When I was just a boy
It pulled me deeper into something that I now enjoy
The ritual begins
Evil will meet it's end
In your destruction I will finally feel whole again
There is no more time for apologies
Never let emotions
Take hold of me
Are you ready to begin your trip to the other side
Death is an old friend of mine
I have become your nightmare
Say goodbye to everything

This song doesn't sound like pointless serial killing, it sounds like killing for revenge.
Do not beg for mercy now
You never showed any to them
Embrace your final punishment
Makes me think there is more to it
Because it is, somewhat. Pretty sure the song is about the show "Dexter" where while yes, the main character is a serial killer, he's also trying to get revenge on the man who killed his mom. I think he does end up getting revenge somewhat early on in the series, too.
I can smell the edgyness of those saying “This song describes me”.
True. But I'd said most us who havn't lived some absurdly soft and cushy life, can at least somewhat understand it. I certainly can.
🤠
Describes Dexter bro..
2:20 - 2:47 is the best part of any metal song ive ever heard
Fr0ggy0987 I say the whole song bro
My fave song from the Lost Children album. Disturbed are the greatest band ever, they are masters of great chorus lines.
This song is so fucking badass.
Little thing about this song.
Its based on Dexter Morgan from the show and novel Dexter
The line is "Hear me now, feel my *blade*"
This song is an homage to the character Dexter from a book/TV series. Dexter was subjected to violent trauma as a child which caused him to grow up without feeling emotions except for an irresistible need to kill. His adopted father teaches him to recognize people who deserve to die and to only kill them.
The show is basically about Dexter carrying a double life as a family man with a wife and kids while going out and killing murderers and rapists in the night, along with periodic musings about what it must be like to have feelings and to be socially connected like everyone else
Having said all that, I think this song does an absolutely perfect job in conveying all the bad ass, metal aspects of Dexter (both as a killer and as a person)
Thx, I´ll recomend the series to a frind of mine.
He´s crazy about series, and criminology anyway ^^
This came out way before Dexter dumbassasesssesesesesses
@@michaelstuddzz2797 In case you're actually not trolling, Dexter debuted in 2006 and the album Old Friend is on came out in 2010. And that's not even getting into all the *very* obvious allusions to the show and Dexter as a character.
you know Dexter's laboratory? on carton network? this song is dedicated to him.
This song is just awesome every time I hear it and it's about Dexter.
If anyone is wondering: this song was written under the impression from "Dexter" TV series.
i always imagine this song to be part 2 of innocence
"Never let emotions get hold of me" is "Malevolent emotions take hold of me" (I think). Great work by the way!
It is indeed "malevolent emotions", although I thought it was "never let emotions" when I first heard it.
He's right XD
Ya, that's right
It's MALEVOLENT, not never let
It's "never let emotions take hold of me" This song is a reference to the main character of Dexter who is a violent sociopathic serial killer who feels himself void of human emotions and struggling to balance that emptiness with fitting in to normal society and that emotions get in his way of doing what he feels he must. Thus he never lets emotions take hold of him
I can only imagine the Tail of the God Slayer with this.
For those who don't know it The God Slayer was a man who lived a few thousand years ago, he was part of a group of killers who killed for money everyone else prayed for their target and their contractor when they preformed a kill and were all mainly sane. But however one man was nuts he called himself "The Guardian of Insanity" He felt no remorse or regret after a kill and sometimes did it for fun not payment. He never prayed to his gods like the rest of his people.
He opened what is called "The Gates of Madness' (Which comes from the legend of the 7 gates) He spoke with its demon inside its guardian who granted him power.
He in turn used that power to Climb mount Olympus and kill the gods thus earning the title the God Slayer. He took his place on Zeus's throne and after a few hundred years when Christianity took charge he tore Olympus in half severing it into two mountains and set out to kill the new gods (Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and so on) It is said the gods feared him so much they chose a Mortal warrior to kill the god slayer to save themselves. Fate (Their Mother was ashamed of her sons that they feared a mortal just because he killed their older siblings being Zeus and the others) She allowed them to choose this Warrior and grand him weapons that would kill the God Slayer.
After a long fought war the god slayer fell and bound himself away so that he could return to the mortal world and ascend to the heavens to finish what he started.
(God of War got part of their story from this old tail. Its quiet the story really I don't believe it as a non religious man but I enjoy it)
The Story foretells he will be bound one day to another human who's equal to his Madness (His reincarnation none the less) Only to escape and return to his Immortal state through the Maddening body he now has.
I can see this tail in here because I can imagine him being bound to that person and demanding to be set free "Echoing cries in the time that it began" Being his voice demanding to be set free. "The ritual begins" Being him finally giving in and letting the God Slayer out. "Hear my Plea" Being that he is giving reasons to let him out. "Death is an old friend of mine" Being because the god slayer died once before so he can't again now that he has already died and returned. "Are you ready to begin your trip to the other side" Being he is killing the moral soul of his Host sending them to the other side and in return when he ascends to finish his fight they will be there to help him so the two can fight as one.
And pretty much all the lyrics fit this story to a point.
Pretty well though out now I doubt that's what its about but none the less it fits.
Isn't it "malevolent emotions take hold of me?" and "I can feel the dark passenger calling me"?
I prefer "feel my blade"!!!!! That's how deeply heartless people from my life have hurt me!!!!! Yeah I have that old friend to!!!!!
this song is about tv show dexter.
and its malevolent emotions
I prefer 'feel my plea' to 'feel my blade'
The latter just sounds too mindless murderer psycho rather than someone trapped in the killer.
Breeze Ark But alas, listening close enough. It is feel my blade.
And it cannot be unheard.
+Breeze Ark plea*
KronikStrike
What?
+Breeze Ark But "feel my plea" doesn't make sense
+Redstar2613 Imo it kinda does make sense, despite the fact that I know that the official lyrics is "blade"...
Because this song is about Dexter and he always talks to his victims before he killes them, so "feel my plea" could be creative way of saying this in a song ;-)
Its feel my blade, not feel my plea
@zachsparow That was actually one of the worst one of those I've seen. But work on it and you might get something cooler.
I've seen another one with about half of their songs mentioned, and most of them fit naturally into what he said, instead of being forced.
@Spearmintyify
I'm sorry but it is definitely NOT "release" instead of "feel" ;) I think everyone can hear that Dave does not sing release in the chorus ;-)
This song's obviously written for Dexter.
someone should SO make a video of this song with scenes from Dexter... that would be EPIC!
@ThePsychoNecromancer Not trying to be an internet asshole or anything, but I believe this song is loosely based on a betrayal that happened to Dave before recording Asylum. An old friend of his went behind his back on a business deal or something like that. People just associate it with Dexter for some reason.

@DarthEpic Like I said, sorry if I came off as an asshole, wasn't trying to be one. And it was on some interview with David around when Asylum was being release. It was a quick mentioned thing, along with a few other song meanings.
this should of been on the remake of mortal kombat trailer...not AWTD fuckin awesome song
I checked like 9 different sites for the lyrics, 7/9 says it's "plea" and the rest says "blade". I'm still not gonna assume anything, since there's no official and confirmed lyrics released yet.
79 peoples doesn't think so... Sorry... I think you're the only one who thinks that :/
Could you possibly tell me what program you used to make this video? I too make lyrics videos, and have been searching for a program to make videos more enjoyable like this one..
o.o this ish a bonus track from asylum ???? wth i has thelimited edition and it'snot on it what gives how ish this a bonus track o.o??? it's a kickass song tho i wuv it
I love your videos! When are you gonna make more for Disturbed?
@Synyster995 This song was only released on Spotify, and there's supposed to be three other unreleased bonus tracks called "Mine", "Three" and "Emptiness".
@XMercykiller Disturbed is releasing an album in November that contains songs that never made it onto the other albums and this song will be onnthere
@mkadragtonslayer The term comes from old style records, ya know how there are two sides to them. An A side and a B side. Usually B sides are unreleased.
The best way to avoid it, is LEAVE IT ALONE as I kill the MONSTER inside me.
Dexter
dexter.
@mw2godfather2011 Like I didn't realize that, but c'mon man, that joke is just so fucking old. And not even funny.
When I had first heard this song, it reminded me of Dexter. I didn't know this song was inspired by the show Dexter at first \m/
Thix is the coolest lyrics on screen video ive ever seen! And the song is fucking awesome sooo. WHOAAA!
Heh, better than the bonus track at the LE album :P
And it sounds more like "blade" to me :/
When I uploaded this song it was only a bonus track of Asylum and it still is - later they released it also in their bonus track collection "The Lost Children" - of course, I mean it's a bonus track collection :p.
;-)
@MetalDemon17 There's three unreleased B-Side songs, "Mine, "Three" and "Emptiness".
Man, I wonder when Disturbed will release "Mine", "Three" and "Emptiness"...
@dylan18790 well someone just did look at the video reaponses my friend :)
Considering that he probably took an already existing writing format, and then just added the picture in some program like Vegas, and then used Vegas or some other program to put togehter the slide-shows. And then just timed it all in Vegas or perhaps something like audacity. Prolly 1-2 hrs, 3 tops if he was really slow. Time spent coming up with what he was going to do, and how, now that is prolly what would taken time. The work itself could be done in 15-40min tops, for someone with exp.
woah.this is easily one of the most bad-ass lyrics vids i have ever seen.Well done! There's only one (possible)error i saw the entire video.I'm not 100% sure, but at 2:32 I think it says "Help me father PURGE THE memory from my mind." again,Im not completely sure but it sounds more sensible and everyone please dont hate,Im just trying to help.If i am wrong(which is possible)and the lyrics i posted are incorrect and yours are corretc,I apologize.
I LOVE Disturbed, but i wonder if anyone notices theyre, dare i say the 'C' word? Commercial, i mean they have, even still SO MUCH potential, theyre talented as it is an thts what i like, but the lyrics are so obvious in saying the band is commercial, using ones emotions to gain an audiance, an thts what i hate. -.-
I could be wrong, but for some parts, I hear @0:51 '..take hold OF me"; @2:22 "...Dark Passenger CALLING me'; and @2:30 "help me father PURGE your memory..." Like I said, this is based on what I hear when listening to it. What do you guys think?......on another note, EXCELLENT JOB with the video. I Love it A LOT 8D
Hell Yea DISTURBED Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@zachbella I understand. Sorry if I sounded hostile. I enjoy almost every kind of music, and I try to be open minded, but sometimes I get annoyed at those who say only one kind of music is good (Don't get me wrong I'm not saying you said that). So again, my apologies.
@zachbella You say all of that. I say let people listen to what they want. Why should you, or I care what everyone else listens to. Besides, Rock is far from dying. If anything it's stronger than ever. Where did you get your statistics anyway? Far more than 8% of teens listen to rock/metal.
@Arrowkai Let's think of it this way- someone has hurt you.
- you hurt that person back
- you make a plea, stating that you have a right to have your vengance, or the plea being a defense towards all that a person ahs done to you( plea is basically..."defense", or a deffensive action, argument, etc.)
@rockspring11
Thank you very much, thats a great compliment :-)
Nicely done. I could swear it's "Feel my blade", though. "Feel my plea" doesn't make sense to me; not from the standpoint Draiman is singing from. :S I miss when Disturbed put the lyrics in their albums' leaflets. T_T Simplified things, lol.
i didnt heard this song before when Asylum was released but this song fucking ROCKS!! but this song should' have called "karma" haha whatever you do in life sooner or later it ll come back to you.. PS: This song is amazing!!
@RobertTwelvs I agree, the opening theme for Dexter is grating, they should use this instead! Or during the credits, or even just having it playing somewhere in an episode... Though the latter may damage the fourth wall. xD
@MrVlado17 Yeah just read the lyrics, wow, I had no idea, I mean I noticed when he said dark passenger but damn, my favourite band and favourite show, sweet. But yeah, the lyrics would be blade and not plea. It makes more sense.
@HammerHeadScott Well Light never could bring himself to kill his sister.
Anyone else think Light and Dexter would like pretend to be BFFs in their day job identities and then try to kill each other?
Awesome work wth the vid bro.... must've taken a shitload of time to make this vid and altho its not the best song by disturbed its DEFINiTelY bettr thn listening to "disturbed-less" songs out der !!!
no advert, but just saying:
THE 8TH OF NOVEMBER DISTURBED IS RELEASING AN ALBUM WITH EVERY SINGLE BONUS TRACK EVER RECORDED ON IT + A NEW ONE CALLED "MINE".
There. i reported it. good day to every1 :)
at 2:26 it is "I can feel the dark passenger calling me" not "come in me". other than that, good job and great song! thanks for posting. Disturbed for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! \m/ (*o*) \m/
Not to nitpick, but you got a part of the lyrics wrong.
Someone asked David Draiman what the lyrics are and it's "Feel my Blade" not "Feel my Plea".
Other than that, good video.
Awesome video.. just few minor mistakes: It's "Feel my blade", not "feel my plea", "malevolent emotions", not "never let emotions", and "take hold oF me" not "take hold on me"
I know this song is about Dexter but...I think it would fit the God Of War series much more. Sound's waaay too violent and bad ass to be describing a murderer in the suburbs if you ask me.
Love the song, but haha did anyone else notice, "Never let emotions take 'hot new song lyrics dot com' hold of me" in the description? I was like wha...? Then I laughed.
@MrVlado17 well he says "there is no more time for apoligies" "death is an old friend of mine", i don't see why he would say feel my plea? to me it doesn't make scense.
Why do people who does't like Disturbed even watch these videos and why don't they like Disturbed... I just don't get it how can you possibly not like Disturbed...
@MrVlado17 Ohhh alright.I didnt realize there were no official lyrics.that was my bad.
btw your more than welcome for the praise,This video deserves it!
This should have been the final boss theme for shadow's fight against devil doom, played this song over Turbohog's playthrough, and the result was EPIC!!!! =D
A song with the lyrics 'Death is an Old Friend of mine' is dedicated to Dexter's Laboratory? You sure you don''t mean that horror series named Dexter?
its a good song but the dude who made the vid is gonna cause alot of people with epilepsy to have seizures and he will get sued for a load of money.
@DownWithTheHerman Is that so? Where did you hear that? I honestly had a hard time finding this song, never mind anything that said what it was based on.
Dexter!
@dylan18790 Something tells me that the song was based off Dexter. And I agree, someone should do a music video of this with scenes of Dexter.
I know this is meant to apply to Dexter, but it could work with Death Note as well (Told from Light's view, and Ryuk would be the old friend.)
@Synyster995 thats because this song is still in Dan Donegans computer ,which means it will be one of the songs on the next album or so i think.
Someone needs to make a God Of Ear Music Video to this...that would kick soo much ass my pc would explode...wait...fk it I can buy another pc =D
The bonus track from asylum was "leave it alone" and that song was redone (in a more brutal fashion) and put in lost children as well.
@robytzu97 ok I get it they didn't break up, it was just some thing that my brothers friend said, one comment letting me know is enough
@TheBi0Mistake Next time you're on this video, look just above the comments to the video responses and click the one on the right.
@freedomfighter923
Same thing happened to me. At first I was perturbed, and then I laughed a little. Copy/pasta fail, or what? xD
@MaoDaAmargura It's a reference to the Dexter TV show, Dexter doesn't have emotions, (or at least, he doesn't think he does)
If they'd used this as the Devil Doom boss track in Shadow the Hedgehog, I'd just play the last story over and over again. =D
It sounds as if he is saying; "Malevolent emotions" instead of "Never let emotions". It actually makes more sense that way.
Omg. I bought the super-deluxe 40$ version of this damned album and I dont get this epic song??And Leave It Alone??
Sigh.
Yes, because I am INDESTRUCTIBLE!
@mkadragtonslayer yup theres also 3 and Leave it Alone
@OneNationUnderMe arnt emotions supposed to be why u like music?... because of how the music makes the listener feel?
this is the most badass lyric video iv ever seen and i've seen a shit ton if it was any better id have to smack myself
honestly, i love disturbed, but they have done better songs than this. Still good, but they have better songs \m/
Holy fucking shit, and i thought ASYLUM was good already, this song completely rapes it!!! Long lives Disturbed!!
@MrVlado17 I looked at my copy of the Asylum Special Edition and it says Feel My Plea so ya you got it right.
@dylan18790
Or with Hitman...
Dexter Morgan, from the show Dexter. He is a serial killer who chops up other serial killers or rapists.
@dylan18790
Give me a link to a UA-cam Video Downloader and I'l be more than fucking happy to do it. :D!!
@MrVlado17 hey dude awesome job. Just 1 question.what is this song about? would appreciate you answering :)
i want it any download for it?
Some people do not know what a bonus track or a B-Side is... Kinda sucks
