My friends and family tell people all the time that I am vegan. My literal name now at school is ‘vegan’. All everyone talks to me about is being vegan. @anyways both regular and halal slaughtered animals feel pain.
      Halal: cutting the throat does not stop pain nor does it cause them to be unconscious immediately. What you say is the effect of cutting someone's head off completely.
      In the Netherlands the law prescribes that in halal slaughter an animal must be stunned if the animal is still conscious after 40 seconds!
      Further, they perform tests to check whether the animal is still conscious. One of them is pinching the nose with some device but the checklist literally states that this does not work well for halal because the pain of the throat cut is so much worse than the pain in the nose that the latter will not even be felt!
      Stunning in regular slaughter also causes suffering and pain. You can watch this video which compares gas chamber stunning to electrical stunning. This is not an under cover video but advised by the communication department of slaughterhouse Vion, I called myself.

    Seems like a lot of people think that the bolt is what kills the animal which isn’t true, it’s only to stun the animal before killing it.
    And at least here in Sweden the bolt is mainly used with cows and with pigs they use carbon dioxide. These people talking about ”humane slaughter” should be shown what it looks (and sounds) like when pigs are being subjected to that.

    • @Lerian_V
      @Lerian_V 4 роки тому

      The mode of killing an animal is an ethics issue, not a moral one. The best method is to stun and then slit its throat and allow it to bleed out. End of story. The vegan moral argument doesn't really hold up because the purpose of existence of these animals is to serve us in terms of food, security (dogs), leisure, work, medical research, etc. Knowing the purpose (reason) of existence of anything in the universe is key to knowing how to use that thing. That's why the moral argument for veganism is the weakest of all the other arguments.

    • @mikk5540
      @mikk5540 4 роки тому +10

      Lerian V Don’t know why you commented that here? I’m not discussing what’s morality and what’s ethics. My comments was aimed towards those who doesn’t know the process of killing animals within the meat industry.
      But for the sake of replying to what you wrote, animals existing for the purpose of being of use to humans are nothing but your beliefs, not a solid fact.
      We don’t need to consume animal products to live a good life, a lot points to it being actually better than to keep consuming animals as we do today.
      I could continue this but I feel that my reply is long enough.
      Just to finish off, you have the right to believe that animals are here to fulfill your needs but framing it as a fact is just plain wrong.

If so, ask yourself what's more important, our sensory pleasure when eating an animal, or that animals life? I get where you're coming from as 3 years ago I couldn't possibly imagine myself being vegan but now my only regret is not doing it sooner!
      The good news is there are now so many plant based alternatives to meat, cheese and eggs that taste very similar, some even more flavoursome!

    Hey ed, just wanted to thank you for something. I recently had an assignment at my college for extra credit to go to a vegan activist's lecture and then present my thoughts on it. I did it and it went really well.. we got to discuss it afterwards and I was able to answer everyone's questions thoroughly and even convinced my teacher to start going vegan by the end of the entire project. I think watching your videos and researching the ideas you bring up has really helped equip me to inform others with reason and facts. Thanks for all you do, you are making a big change.
