I made katiev for the first time this weekend while following your recipe! My pot wasn't as big so I had to use less water and less salt/fish sauce etc. But it still came out great! Thanks to you and your mom!
I'm so hungry now and I miss all my Khmer friends. We don't have this in my town in Texas. Thanks for making me feel good and have memories of all my friends.
I made your recipe and it is delicious! Made it a couple times now and I plan to use this recipe whenever I make this dish. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe, especially because it is so important to your family. Thankful for the precise measurement suggestions because I'm not ever sure how much to add of things; it was comforting to hear Khmer in the video also and see both you and your mom at the end
I truly enjoy watching your videos. I was born in Cambodia, and lived there until I was 6 years old, so I was not exposed to a lot of Cambodian food. I know a variety of common cambodian food, but your channel has exposed other foods to me and I am excited to make them :) Au kun jrahn nah pou and om dae dah video tver mahope :)
Mom a real one. Said if it’s not good. Holla at me I’ll make it right lol. Keep it ip bro. I watch your videos when I wanan learn how to make Khmer food. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Wow, luv to hear your slurping which sounded so good and very yummy! Your Mom looked very young and can't help but notice the necklaces you are wearing.....ahhh! I am filled with envy. Thanks very much for sharing.
one of my favorite dishes. your mom is so cute to. she's funny, if we are making this to let her know and she will come over and help is eat it. also she said if there are left overs then your soup wasn't good. lol
I watched a few of ur video! I love the food ur mom makes, but can do on slicing the beef.. There other recipe w/ beef.. Just wondering if she can show me how to slice things the thin. Thx for all the video! :)
Excellent! Sad to hear you eat it only once or twice a year. I ate a big bowl of that almost three or four times a week when I lived in Thailand. Here in Pensacola FL we have a couple of Vietnamese Pho restaurants, but I have always been disappointed. I must try your recipe. It looks fabulous.
Great video and looks damn good! I make my soup the same way but i like to throw in more spices and vegetables, like cinnamon stick, cardomon, and coriander seeds and carrot and celery too. .
LOVE THIS DISH, THUMBS UP, even on a hot day, makin me hungery, do ur mom knw how to make baby fried shrimp cakes, not sure on how u say it in khmer, but would love to learn how to make it, THANKS for ur videos, love them
+Pich Seng Freeze the leftover broth? I wouldn't do that. I mean we usually keep it in the fridge for 2-3 days and by the 3rd day you can tell that the soup has thickened a bit. It probably wouldn't be good if you froze it.
Hi! thanks for all the videos, awesome to know I can find out how to make all the recipes without bugging my mom. Do you know what seasoning/spices khmer street vendors use to make that orange-hued (annatto oil) street BBQ chicken wings? I see them a lot in Philly, and my mom used to cook it but I keep asking and getting the wrong recipe. Unfortunately I don't speak Khmer so it's a bit tricky for me, but I figured if anyone knew the recipe it would be you guys. Thanks!
I love your mom brother I'm gonna try to make this tomorrow I'll come back and tell to let your mom know whether or not she has to come help me eat. :)
Love your videos, they make my mouth water. Btw, the actual name for the “saw herb” is culantro. The green one with the purple stipe in the center are called Laksa leaves.
Love your videos, and my ka tieu yesterday came out delicious!! Thanks!! One thing though, when you boil the bones, the stuff that comes out isn't really "dirt" LOL it's just fat and bone marrow residue.
They are actually parboiling the bones. The first 10mins of boiling gets rid of all the impurities from the bones. The marrow doesn’t come out until much longer cooking
nowishstar So true but many outsider of Se-Asian don't know what it is that why i call it Pho which known to Westerner. Ka-tewi is more of Se-Asian true aboriginal/ native term, example Singalore, Thai, Malaysian Khmer called it Ka tewi..
Oh that is awesome! I would love to learn more about those noodle dishes or if you know where I can go look up some of the ways to make them I would love to learn. And as for the name of the soup sounding almost the same in Thai and Cambodian. It's because both Languages are the base of one another. My mother told me that if you ever want to learn how to speak Cambodian properly, to learn Thai first because Cambodian has more vowels then Thai does and it's faster to learn Thai lol.
Peelmeone: in Vietnam, the soup would be call Hu Tieu (similar pronounciation) Nam Vang. Pho in Vietnam doesn't have all that much stuff in it. As you get closer to the south and western parts, pho looks more closer to this demonstrated version because of the Khmer Krom ethnic group that resides in the area.

The way you make Hu tieu is so different then mine.

Yaaas I'm about to make this!
Khmer Pho is better than Viet 🍜 the taste is incredible like Hulk 😂👍...
+Simone King True. I can have two or three bowls of my mums kuyteav but one bowl of pho is always so heavy you cant eat anymore.
Unfinished Business Thanks for your replying my Khmer Yudas/Judah brother 😁👍...
Why call it Khmer Pho? It's Kaytheav lol much better than Pho in my opinion
nowishstar So true but many outsider of Se-Asian don't know what it is that why i call it Pho which known to Westerner. Ka-tewi is more of Se-Asian true aboriginal/ native term, example Singalore, Thai, Malaysian Khmer called it Ka tewi..
Simone King I agreed way better
