- In this intermediate blues guitar lesson we will play some fun blues guitar solos with only 4 notes with-in the E major pentatonic and the E minor pentatonic scales. Here is a link for this fun blues rock backing track. • E Blues Backing Track ... . This concept is simple but sounds so good.
rusty I’ve been playing guitar for my whole life and I’m mostly a rock and metal guy but I really enjoy your videos because you show how to have fun with the guitar and the theory that you’re teaching is fantastic because you make it understandable. It’s the way you’re teaching. It’s just easy to learn. It’s cool.
Also, the fact that you’re a brother in Christ is fantastic!
This is a great comment! Such an encouragement to me! Thanks so much. Blessings to you, my brother.✌️🙏
@@rustysguitar1 Thanks Brother! I don't know you in life but...I'll see you at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb!
Mind-blowing lesson!💥💯👍👍👍 Only 4 notes and so many possibilities.🎸 Great video, Rusty,😊👍 Have a fantastic weekend!✨💟☮
Thanks for watching Colourful Girl! Much appreciated! Have a great weekend also❤️
Another great one Rusty..........your lessons are so consistently great and easy to follow.......I eagerly await each new tutorial from you.........thanks so much Paul from Ireland
Thank you, Paul! That means a lot that you look forward to my weekly lessons! Cheers from Chicago, my friend👍
You're not rusty at all, you're a well oiled and polished gem. Thank you so much for all this great content.
Good one, bro! I appreciate the comment and thanks for checking out my lessons😎
Always look forward to your new lesson, as well as enjoy and learn. At a beginner level this one will be easier to get down. Thank you for sharing your experience knowledge and passion with those of us trying to make music. BEST AND PEACE
I’m glad to hear that Chuck! And I’m always happy to help! Thanks and have a great weekend👍
Me too Rusty.
Step by step, with simple limitations is much more easy to learn to walk and make real music, thanks Rusty!
Well said Rafa! Thanks so much for your feedback and support! Enjoy your weekend 👍
thanks for keeping it simple Rusty, much appreciated
Simple, but effective! And most importantly, fun! Thanks for checking out the video Lee👍
Hey Rusty you make the blues fun! 😊God bless
Thank you Heather! It is so much fun! Blessings and enjoy your weekend 🙏
Indeed lots of fun.
Thanks Jack! Good to hear from you👍
Well, this is another great lesson & even though, it's Clapton-esque with that 1/4 step bend, I'm reminded of the late great Freddie King, a fellow Texan blues master!
I love me some Freddie King Guitar! Thanks a lot Gearmeister! Catch you later ✌️
Thanks Maestro. Much appreciated Rusty .
Wow! Thank you for supporting my channel like this! Means a lot to me👍
My pleasure Rusty. It took me a while to figure out how to financially support the wonderful guitar lessons I’m receiving. I donated the other day a couple of times after I finally learned how to financially compensate you for all the expenses, time and energy it takes to make one seemingly simple video. It’s a big process. ☮️ ❤. I’m stoked about my lessons with you.
Excellent lesson Rusty! Simple but efficient! I like it! Thanks a lot !
Good to hear from you Patrick! I’m happy that you liked the video! I appreciate your comment and thanks for watching 👍
Haha first to comment. Sounds great Rusty. Sort of minimalist blues. Less is definitely more. Eric in the Bluesbreaker days.
I appreciate the comment! I love some Eric Clapton guitar! Thanks🎸
Thanks for posting! This type instruction is most useful. Building on these riffs really help my play!
I’m really glad that the lessons are helpful! Thanks a lot for watching👍
Ha brilliant presentation Rusty 👍👍🎸🎸
Thank you for watching Tony👍
This is really good fun Rusty. Having a blast with this one my friend 👍🏻 tried in other areas too, sounds amazing. Thanks for yet another awesome tutorial and have a great weekend with your family. Speak soon 👍🏻🏴🎸
Good to hear from you, my friend Dave! This is a simple concept, but I really had a lot of fun myself with this video! Always appreciate your feedback and I hope you have a great weekend also mate! Cheers 👍
Another fun lesson Rusty! Instead of running up and down the pentatonic, it’s worth to concentrate on a small part of the pentatonic, where there is already much fun to be had 👍🏻😎☀️
Sometimes it’s good to keep it close to homebase. Then we don’t have to think too much.😂 I did have fun making this video! Thanks so much for the comment and for all your support William. Enjoy the rest of your week buddy.👍
Thank you Rusty, this type of tutorial is so valuable and appreciated. I have noticed that many other UA-cam channels will talk about soloing with just 4 notes, and then the tutor blazes away to showcase what it possible, but if we don't know the basic techniques such as you have shown here, those lessons really offer very little in the way of instruction to us. Not to say that people need to be spoon fed everything, not at all. But what have shown is a great 'kick start' to get the creative engine running! I was going to mow the lawns just now, but my guitar is right here beside me, and you know what that means!! Thanks heaps Rusty....have a great weekend :)
Good to hear from you, Neil! I really appreciate your feedback here! I had a lot of fun with this video because of the limitations of the four notes. It forces us to create phrases instead of playing up and down and entire scale! I hope you have fun with that Guitar! thanks for all your support buddy! Let’s talk soon👍
Again WOW great lesson!
I’m happy to hear it SR! Thanks✌️
I hated playing blues until your fine instruction. Thanks Rusty!
Thanks for watching👍
Great stuff Rusty thanks
Much appreciated, James!👍
Great video Rusty! Fits perfectly with the lesson I am taking now. Keep up the amazing work 😊
I’m happy to hear that Chris! Let’s keep working on this stuff together! Later buddy ✌️
Hey this is a great lesson. Great concept. I often get so carried away during blues pentatonic solos. A great reminder (and example) to stay in one place and be patient. This makes me more likely to play melodies rather than licks. Thank you!
Well, said Aaron! You are so right! Thanks a lot for checking out my lesson and have a great weekend👍
Amezing guitar player very good
Thank you 👍
It's all in the fingers. I'm betting you played in a few bands in your day, Rusty.
You’re right Max! I was definitely a rocker back in the 70s and 80s! Thanks for checking out the video lesson. Catch you later Max.✌️
What a fantastic video Rusty have a wonderful ❤weekend 😊
Thank you! I appreciate you watching the video👍
❤❤❤ pretty cool lesson ...makes me feel good about playing
Thanks Bryan! I’m very happy to hear that 😎
Very helpful, thanks❤
I’m glad that the lesson was helpful! Thank you Paul 👍
Hi Rusty, Great session, perfectly explained and I could follow along quite well. Being a long term learner, I just need some magical speed cream to rub on my hands. Anyhow keep doing what you are doing and I will keep practicing. Also keep looking for that hand cream. Cheers Sean.
Hey Sean, let’s keep working on this stuff together mate! Thank you taking the time to watch my videos. Cheers 👍
Only Rusty can play just four notes and still look like he's shredding the daylights out of it.
(Well, maybe Stevie Ray, too...)
Fun stuff Crash! Always good to hear from you buddy 👍
I’ll bet that’s a good book
It certainly is! I read the Bible every morning in my studio! Thanks for checking in Steve🙏
Me too!!
@@brackinsteve Blessings my brother 🙏
Oh I’m all over those notes in those boxes like a cheap you know what 😂
Nice! I know you are rockin it😎
It is more than 4 notes really but who`s counting
It is more than four notes if you bend the note. So you’re right! Thanks Tony for checking out the video.👍
Two frets with bends to change notes, not frets.
You could get 8-16 notes easy in one position. Easily enough to create an interesting solo without moving position.
Great stuff as usual Rusty. Can you please clarify when we should change from major to minor pentatonic when soloing over those backing chords? Thanks!
The point of this video that you can play over the chord changes with just the four notes of either the major or minor pentatonic scale. You can certainly switch scales, but I didn’t in this video. Thanks for checking out the video, Jack! Keep rockin bro 😎
I love this lesson. I will subscribe now. Thank you. However I cannot get the tabs to show during the lesson. Any advise?
Glad you like the lesson! Sorry, no tabs. Just pause the video and make sure your fingers are in the right spot. When you figure it out that way, it will sink into your brain so much deeper and you will never forget it. Thanks for subscribing to my channel! Enjoy your weekend.👍
Thank you. It’s just that yesterday it did have tabs and today it didn’t.
Rusty, can you still do the major notes if you count down 3 frets from the 9th fret? Great lesson! Thanks so much!
You can easily use this concept in any key. Just by locating the root note of chord, progression. Then find the box for the major, and then the minor pentatonic. Thanks a lot Robert for checking out the lesson! Have a great weekend.👍
@@rustysguitar1 Thanks so much! 👍👍 Have a great weekend!
@@roberthancock2563 you’re welcome Robert 👍
can you teach me Jack wieldy guitar training
Ya
I never used to use a damn metronome in the past, what a mistake, because it’s essential to learning the feel of when changes should be taking place, and however you decide to get there, you have to be, you wanna be in that pocket
I’m just a feeble minded guitar theorist, so what do I know 😂
I know you’re having fun doing it Jonny! Thanks a lot for watching my videos and enjoy your weekend👍
@@rustysguitar1 Is there any other way to really feel about it, I’m a lifer
@@rustysguitar1 pleasure is truly mine brother, god bless
@@JonnyDank888 Thank you bro 😎
Yes it is 4 notes. Using 4 notes to create others doesnt count as a note because your finger is still on the same 4 notes.. so bending an sliding dont count
Ok
Thanks. I have to work on that.
You’re welcome! Fun stuff here👍
