We do not go into cold water with only one first stage. Why dont you use your sidemount setup, this would give you a complete redundant system if one first stage freezes. I dive the MK25 with the G260 second stage. This regulator is very popular aside the Apex with divers here in Germany for cold water diving. Never had a freezing regulator so far.
There is a lot that goes into getting ready to ice dive. Wow. I can see that it is definitely worth it , however, because those shots under the water are absolutely breathtaking. Really enjoyed these two videos! Nice to see our cold water State represented so beautifully. 🌊
@@DiveSAGA I’ve been calling around the shops thinking about next winter and haven’t found many for the the Great Lakes specifically most offer some of the local lakes which in sure are great but being from there originally really want to do one of the Great Lakes! I’ll let you know if i find any!
@@paulbaker3151 I did it with Divers Incorporated out of Ann Arbor Michigan and they're a very nice crowd and good friends. The dives themselves were in Munising in the UP so it might be an option for you. I may even see you there next year!

Thank you! Next episode we'll change vibes and go to Florida! 🌞
@@DiveSAGA Great! Look forward to it.
Update! I have found a great guy up in Minnesota to help with my ice diving there next winter I can't wait!
@@paulbaker3151 Great news! Enjoy!!
15:53 for the insta360 shots I’d love to see you film yourself doing the shots. Obviously not in ice now but just how you handled the pole and camera
I will see if I can work it into a future episode! 🫡
@@DiveSAGA thanks Nick!!
Great stuff! Was wondering if you know or have heard of any ice diving spots up in the Great Lakes but in Minnesota?
I don't really know any but I imagine most shops there would offer it in some capacity?

@@paulbaker3151 were you able to find anything more about this? I'm moving back up there soon and want to do some diving on the MN side of Superior
This is great you guys. Makes me want to take an ice diving course. Still afraid my hands will get cold though, ha!
Oberon dry glove rings system will take care of that. You're going to join us next year! 👊
@@DiveSAGA Yea!
Great video !
Thank you!
How much lead did you need?
@@TimVanS I can't remember but probably 20lbs
@@DiveSAGA Damn that’s not much. I need 29lbs for drysuit in winter but not freezing
