I got my set in yesterday. Went to the range today. Much improved. I was about to sell off my new Python I was so frustrated with the rear sight. This saved it. Thanks.
@@yowtf5792check out Optics Planet, if you haven’t gotten yours yet, I bought 3 sets of WC Combat (within the last 3 months of 2023) sights for my Python and Anaconda snake pit….good luck….send it…!
I earned Most Accurate award at my local IDPA match yesterday with this new WC Rear Sight on my 2020 Colt Python. Carry Optics and Pistol Caliber Carbine guys ate this wheel gunner’s dust on accuracy :-) Seriously, the WC rear sight is a significant improvement over the factory one, especially in harsh sunlight! And it works with Colt’s optional fiber optic front sight that I already have installed.
Okay, Wilson, while many of your items are out of my price range. This particular offering was definitely a win! I installed your fiber optic and also new rear sight on my python and oooo-wee what an improvement! Colt should take a lesson from you on this upgrade! This now makes the python the perfect wheel gun!
Thank your for that video. On the factory front sight i recognized a small angular deviation if you looked from behind. The sight was not exactly parallel to the barrel. There is some lateral tolerance for better insertion, so I recommend to adjust the front sight parallel to the barrel before the final tightening. At least the Wilscon Combat sight is straight now but could also be due to the better qualtity of course. There was no need to remove the smal screw completely, you can also leave it in the thread as soon as the sight starts to fall out and directly reuse the orginal screw which seems to already have some loctite on it. In any case i am really glad that Wilson Combat parts are available here in germany. The factory sight is clearly not of the same quality as the rest of the Python revolver.
A word of warning, not all 1/16" punches are created the same! I had to purchase 3 before I found one that would fit the roll pin hole. I ended up sanding and polishing the punches down a fraction to allow them to fit the hole, believe me you don't want to get your punch that is oversized stuck in the hole or worse yet break off in the gun. Go slow and cautious. Better safe than sorry!
This is a really great video. It’s quick, concise and has clear and easy to follow instructions. The Wilson sights are really easy to install and the sight picture is much improved. Thanks!
Very pleased with the Wilson Combat rear sight and front Gold Bead. Just installed mine today, however I will say my Wilson replacement roll pin was significantly more difficult to tap in than shown here. It was a tight fit for sure.
Thanks Wilson combat for coming out with the great adjustable rear sights, now I can actually hit my target The factory sights were loose and sloppy I was soo mad at spending lots of money and see my sights flopping around
The easiest way to take out the rear sight is try to shoot a 50rd box of full power magnum loads it basically Fall out, or at least be loss enough to pull out with fingers.
I had a 6"nickel Python in the 80's-what a gun, nothing to not like about it! Sold it in the early 90's to build a 7STW, as it wasn't a practical gun for carrying while living and fishing non-stop in Alaska. So, I just bought a new 4.25 incher. Doesn't hold a candle to the old one. 6# trigger pull, front site blade not parallel to the rib, set screw stripped, rear site flopping in the breeze and the windage locking set screw screws down, then just spins! But, what do you expect for $1400!!! I've read many posts about how Colts' customer service sucks, so I've ordered a WC rear site and will find a 'smith to lighten the trigger pull. It still won't be the Legacy, but.......
I may be nit-picking a high quality instructional video but here goes. Perhaps you should point out to the less experienced gun modifiers out there that you were using a vice already fitted with padded soft jaws. I'd hate to see a well intentioned novice damage the finish on their new Colt. Call me pedantic, but after 45 years as a mechanic, the last 14 teaching and a lifetime of shooting, I think I have seen it all.
Nice sights and good installation video. But I wouldn't use that thin masking tape to protect the barrel from the vise jaws. 👎 I would use a heavy duty thick piece of rubber tubing instead.
Thanks much...followed your instructions exactly and install was quick and easy...great improvement over the stock sights, build quality and fit superb, typical WC quality.
My Python suffers from DA misfires and of course the dumb rear sight. I replaced the rear sight with the excellent Wilson and now the gun is with Colt for repairs. I hate to send in a gun for minor repairs but no parts seem available. To me at least that's a black mark against the gun.
move the back sight the way you want the impact to move. if your shooting high and right move the sight down and left. if your good in elevation but shooting to the right move the sight to the left.
It's a great video but your procedure differs from the instructions on the Wilson Website. They say to tighten the rear sight elevation screw down all the way before removing the roll pin (same with reinstalling). You removed the screw first. Guess it doesn't really matter? Also, I didn't hear a detent being mentioned (it was in the instructions). Does it go on top of the spring? Not being critical. Just ordered one today and want to get it right. Thanks.
Way easier to replace those sights than it is to convince your wife the gun needs them right after you paid $1600+ for a gun you explained to her is top quality, best of the best! 🤪
Great video! Also, any chance for fixed tritium sights, front and rear, with an orange or green hi viz front sight circle like the Sig X Ray sights or D&L Sports does? Would love to incorporate a more self defense style sight with my Python 😁
Just got a new Anaconda several weeks ago and I can attest to the fact that the stock rear sight is absolute garbage! I had to shim it up so it didn't wiggle around in its channel due to the fact that Colt is continuing to use ones that are oversized. Lost the little detent ball that's about the size of a flies balls from the elevation adjustment screw hole and I think I already stripped out the tiny Allen set screw (you'll need size 0.050, because colt is too cheap to provide one) you need to loosen to make windage adjustments. I just received a shipping notice from Wilson Combat for their replacement sight and couldn't be happier.
It would be Helpful to give a good close up of the sights. Good video otherwise. I've noticed my stock sights are a pretty shaky affair. Do I get these from Brownells or direct from Wilson? Best Wishes from Montana! M.H
Note I worry about his vice setup I don’t see he mentioned soft padded or at least wooden planks To secure but not damage finish . Please to work on the table unscrewing elevation screw when you have a vice setup. Not stable you slip you scratch your finish
I kinda like the factory front sight that comes on the gun. If I replace the factory rear sight for the Wilson Combat one will it be compatible with stock front sight in terms of height etc?? Thanks
Questions about the rear sight options. There are two different options, a rounded and a squared notch. Why would I choose one over the other? As far as front sight, which is easier to pick up in bright light, red or green? Just bought the 8" Anaconda and want to order the sights. Site doesn't really explain the differences. Thank you for the help.
Hi Guy, watched your video sometime ago since purchased sihts for both python and Anaconda. My anaconda has an 8 inch barrel with a rear sight bottomed out with no more adjustment. It shoots 3 to 4 inches high at 25 and 5 to 6 inches high at 50. The.180 front green fiber optic sight is not tall enough. Customer service said there is no solution at this time. Wilson combat does not make a taller front sight Wilson combat. Please make a taller front sight.
Now I've seen and heard of a ball beating type tbi g in the rear sight. I'm nervous to remove the rear sight as I do t want to loose that part. Mine is a 2020 colt python. Looking to change sights.
So far I have not shot one of my new Pythons! They are new in the box. What would you recommend cleaning or lube wise to prepare it for the first day at the range? Thank you in advance!
Great! Once again, it's a tutorial on improving a colt. These or anything Colt are very expensive. But none can really be used like a normal firearm without fitting, parts swapping, reliability upgrades. Why do people buy these? Just for the name, I guess
