The DIMACS Workshop on Computational Approaches to Vehicle Routing with a Tribute to David S. Johnson emphasized methods and algorithms for solving vehicle routing problems (VRPs) that perform well computationally and/or have high potential for doing so. It built on three recent computational competitions in vehicle routing: 1) the DIMACS Implementation Challenge, 2) the EURO Meets NeurIPS competition, and 3) the Amazon Last Mile Challenge. Presenters included members of teams that competed in those events, as well as leaders from the broader research community who specialize in computational methods for vehicle routing.
