    From North Korea's perspective, this arrangement serves multiple purposes: gaining diplomatic favor with Russia, potentially receiving economic or military aid, and showcasing the strength of its own forces. However, this also risks escalating tensions with the West, as North Korea's direct involvement in the Ukraine war would further isolate the regime diplomatically and economically.

  • @jamesvalpuesta

    Russia has concluded a strategic agreement with North Korea. Ukrainian forces are surrounded in Kursk in the town of Suja.
    Instead of advancing Russian forces have halted. Why ? Rumour is North Korean forces will have genuine war practice eliminating the cornered Ukrainians and their supporting mercenaries.
    Very bad luck for the Ukrainians. The usual made for western media ra ra project turned into a disaster; planned by NATO the USA and UK. The usual disaster by Zelensky who should have pulled Ukrainian forces out after a few days because the objective of capturing the Kirsk NPP was never on and we know Russia is always slow to react and then grinds the opponent down. As usual Ukraine holds on to impossible to keep territory and as a result on this occasion has only lost 25,000 on its Kirsk incursions. But some of the cream of its forces including some 12-13 battalions.....
    Genius.

    21 percent interest rate set by the Russian Central Bank, up from 19 percent only one month ago. The economy is overheating faster and faster. All the interest rate rises can't fix it either, only slightly slow it. Because it's not consumer borrowing that's driving inflation, it's government spending on the war. This kind of reliance on external forces shows that Russia's traditional recruitment metgods - conscription, voluntary contracts, and mobilizing reservists - are not meeting the demands of the ongoing war. Despite efforts to boost recruitment by offering financial incentives, the fact that Russia has to double its payout for contract soldiers indicates difficulties in attracting sufficient numbers of volunteers. This aligns with broader reports of war fatigue and the hesitance of many Russians to get involved in the conflict.

      "flagging military capacity"... when you made this comment, how many milliseconds did it take you? You reckon 1.5k North Koreans, who do not speak the language and do not have the same training will be a "calculated saving move" to a 700-800k well trained, equipped and experienced army that is on a roll? I mean mate, just pass it through the most basic ridicule test maybe.

      @serzh1950 3 дні тому

      As it turns out, Article 4 of the treaty on strategic partnership between the DPRK and Russia speaks of providing military assistance if one of the parties is subjected to a military attack and invasion.
      Article 4: "In the event that one of the Parties is subjected to an armed attack by any state or several states and thus finds itself in a state of war, the other Party shall immediately provide military and other assistance by all means at its disposal in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and in accordance with the legislation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation," - this is the verbatim article of the treaty.
      Thus, the NATO PMC "AFU" may actually soon encounter North Korean special forces, which, in full compliance with international law, will destroy the accomplices of the imperialist dogs (Kim Jong-un's wording), most likely in the Kursk region.
      Thus, the connection between the DPRK and Russia will become unbreakable, all plans of the USA to strike the North Korean Republic through its colony South Korea are already insignificant, because the Russian army will come to the rescue.

      @@jimphillippi616 What is not true? The number of Russian troops deployed in Ukraine? What is it then? 100k? 10 million? You are trying to dispute something just for the sake of disputing it. Or maybe the amount of North Koreans in Russia? 1.5k is the only number that has more or less been 'confirmed', all other numbers come from the Ukrainians. Do you have any evidence of the that number being greater? I mean, sure, when I see it - I will believe it, until then this is a silly speculation. What 'facts' exactly are not true?
      Now, as for Putin, you are doing what people like you usually do: lie by omission. What Putin said was that Ukraine it its current form, i.e. under the rule of this particular regime, with neo-nazzies calling the shots, insistence on NATO, insistence on strikes deep into Russia, and repeated talks about the nukes IS A THREAT TO RUSSIA. So what? Would you disagree? Do you really disagree that it is threat? I mean, Ukraine is doing everything it can to prove Putin's original point and the motivation for starting the conflict being right. Great job.
      You do realise that outside the "collective West", very few view Ukraine as a 'victim', and the conflict as "unprovoked Russian aggression". But hey, being inside an echo chamber is comforting as you never need to contend with reality.

    The deployment of North Korean troops to support Russia's war in Ukraine is largely driven by Russia's urgent need to address its significant manpower shortages. The staggering casualty estimates - around 650,000 by various sources - alongside the exodus of about a million Russians evading conscription, have severely reduced Russia's domestic recruitment pool. As a result, Moscow is relying on external sources of manpower, including foreign mercenaries - and now North Korean troops.

    For Russia, the deployment of North Korean troops adds mass, filling a gap in numbers on the battlefield. These troops, particularly if they include North Korea's special forces, also offer tactical expertise in unconventional warfare, which complements Russia's broader military strategy. Given that North Korea maintains a large and highly disciplined military force, Moscow likely views this partnership as a short-term solution to its manpower problem.

      MANPOWER PROBLEM. 700-800k large army with 30k+ recruited every month. What a tremendous manpower problem indeed. And how does one solve that 'problem'? Why of course, by injecting 1.5k of North Korean troops who do not speak the language and have an entirely different training. All this makes perfect sense.
