We were a bit hesitant to start off with as you just served spring rolls, what a huge mistake. Wild is amazing, you should be very proud of your achievements.
@@ForRiel Yes, they are really something special. I was so turned off when they gave me the menu and I realized they just westernized spring rolls....but after eating them I just had to order more and more. :D
We know that people can be a little bit perplex when they see our menu the first time 😅. And it's a big reward for us, when after a meal, they tell us they actually like it! So thank you very much, it means a lot to us 😍!
Oh no! We watch Curiosity Incoprorated (ua-cam.com/channels/gclKg8oaVlkuCurCxo2hOw.html) a Canadian channel, and Alex was talking about how cold it is there. I can't imagine what it's like living with those kinds of temperatures. Everything must take so much longer, too.
26 degrees celsius here today with a beautiful cool breeze. That rain was gladly welcomed. We are heading out soon for lunch to a place called Fat Panda looking forward to it. I never really thought about visiting Canada but Alex and Wes ( both youtubers) have changed our minds.ua-cam.com/video/9VpqpNU9ufA/v-deo.html
You will always have a special place in our hearts, Jim! Really appreciate you being here. We have Indian around once a week. It's good to have a bit of a break from local dishes, much as I love Khmer food.
Wow that food not only looked delicious but was also presented beautifully, think Wild was my favourite the garden and the seating outside so relaxing, these places should be full of tourists enjoying this amazing food, but who knows when that will be. Thank you for this enjoyable tour, take care.
Yes we are spoilt for choice here. Wild is a little further away on the other side of the river, but definitely worth the effort. Their garden setting is lovely, and you're right - super relaxing.
Nice vid Claire - The Lab looked the goods! So fresh and lots of nice greens. It’s also nice to see some of these little places are surviving too. Cheers 👍
Thanks Marc! Sorry to hear about the situation in Victoria - I hope 5 days is enough to get things under control again. Yeah, the good places seem to be doing ok. There are still a lot of expats around town, probably more than you'd expect this far into the pandemic. Jeremy and I need to branch out and start going to some new places. We have a small list of restaurants on high rotation and need to spread the love a bit more.
I was thinking the same thing I'm glad they are still open. I used to like 5 son's but they closed down, the same with spoons and marum. I even did dining in the dark when I was there. Very hard with no tourist

Hi Brian! Happy Year of the Ox to you as well! I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with tofu. In the noodle salad dish it was really nice - a bit crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Other times I have had it and really didn't enjoy the texture. My Little Cafe has gone from strength to strength and has a steady flow of customers all day (I know this as I can see from the office window, and it makes for great people-watching). The Vietnamese place only does lunch Monday - Saturday and it's often full. Try Me is a very good restaurant, but we are often the only table in use when we have lunch there. Thanks so much Graham! I posted in some of the expat Facebook groups asking people to tell me their favourite dish in any restaurant here, and I now have a list of 100 things to try! It will be a fun way to add some new places into our rotation, and we'll definitely be making more of these videos :) The 🐔 pad thai is SO good.
2:50 Those funeral songs always touch the heart when I hear them in-person. I sure miss that, especially since funerals in Long Beach are not the same as the one's in Cambodia. There's more of a connective energy in Khmer Funerals in Cambodia than in Long Beach, especially when the community is allowed to share in the morning. The street processions with the monks and people wearing white especially is something we don't have in Long Beach.
I know what you mean about the funeral sounds. I imagine they wouldn't be allowed to take over the road for 6 days for a funeral in Long Beach! The procession is a really special sight to see, and the community involvement makes it really special. Thank you so much for watching!
Nice to see the standard of Indian food really getting great in Cambodia . . . In Siem Reap . . . VANAKKAM INDIA was a great find , hope its still there as its been a while , . . . JUNGLE BURGER also great for ice cold beer and a treat of Western Soul Food
Absolutely agree! We have found that in general tandoori chicken is amazing here, and every Indian restaurant has great bread. I've found the curries to be a little inconsistent, and now avoid them in favour of the chicken. Jungle Burger is a great spot and they are doing well in their new location. They have definitely upgraded in terms of space and feel of the restaurant.
Fun Vlog, we eat out a lot as it's sometimes cheaper than cooking at home. Well I tell myself that, plus it helps keep the restaurants running during this hard time.

Oh yes, we have been to Viva a couple of times for the frozen margaritas. It's a good time there, that's for sure. Siem Reap will be a very different place when it opens up to tourists again - the roads will be amazing once they are complete. Thanks for watching.
That is just 5 of at least 100 different places in Siem Reap. The amount of restaurants and international airport is what attached us here, it's been just unfortunate that Covid happened. We try and eat out as must as possible or get it delivered, as this helps keep them going( plus it's way easier than cooking).

They look great l liked the look of no.2 the soup, and 3. My spot for breakfast and lunch is Rathas mum and dads cafe in the west end of the Old Market. Ratha and her mum make the dishes the 4 girls do the cleaning up and dad collects the money. The cafe is one of the 2 big side by side cafes at the west end. You should try it, I’ve eaten there since 2014 so I must have had 1000 meals there I have soup and iced coffee. If you get there ask Ratha , for Gary’s soup , Ratha has really good English...
That sounds amazing! What kind of soup is it that you have there? The fact that they have been around for 7 years says a lot, and that is a long time for a restaurant to last in Siem Reap.
@@ForRiel not sure how long they were there pre 2014, but I had a gf at the time and she took me there. Before that I would have breakfast in one of the restaurants on the North side of the Old Market It’s a noodle soup with 2 meats , potato and carrot and tastes amazing, I have the same every time, I just like it so much I call Rathas mum , “mama” and she often gives me something extra when she has it, Ratha is my best friend in Siem Reap Now I’m stuck in Melbourne we talk often on messenger.
i will try that chicken phad thai this week the rest i pass.prefer viva, temple ,red piano, pot&pan paris backery, my favorite foodstalls didnt survive covid i guess
The pad thai is fantastic! Pot & Pan do really nice pizzas and we are big fans of Temple coffee on the Wat Bo side of the river. Never eaten at Red Piano - what do you have when you eat there?
I think My little Cafe looked the best to me!. wow, great prices again, I own a Burger barf in The Kingdom of Tonga, and would love to open a place over there selling Doner kebabs and Burgers, if there is a market for western foon. the people are supposed to be very nice from what i am hearing.
Mmmmm, yes and mainly no. At Western run restaurants mainly yes, but it's very lacking at other places. I try and wear one as much as I can, to stop the dust, keeps the sun off your face and maybe helps stop the spread of C19.
a Tip for you - You have to monetize so UA-cam will recommend your vids otherwise people will not find you. i know you do not do this for money. Just, if UA-cam doesn't make money then they won't promote you. almost at 1000! soon you'll be making LUNCH MONEY!!
Yeah! Once we get to the big 1000 we will do the things that UA-cam requires. I think it will start with a tiny trickle, but that's ok. We're happy that more people are starting to watch our channel! Thanks for watching and commenting :)

@@ForRiel Please don't remind us about the price of beer in Aus vs KH Claire!! $50 for a slab of Angkor in Springvale...sigh....
Here is the list of Siem Reap dishes and restaurants: bit.ly/SiemReapEats. There are 73 restaurants and food stalls to try!
Very interesting. Where on River Rd is the Vegan Salad Kitchen?
This map is accurate, except for the pin being on the wrong side of the street: goo.gl/maps/gWpPojiUjhJExEFZA
@@ForRiel Wonderful! Thanks. I pass that spot daily, and had never noticed it :)
She is a lovely happy owner. You may be lucky enough to see the monkey that no one can catch.
@@BIGJED75 Cool :)
those green must be mixed in the food Jeremy.
Haha yes I think they would have tasted better mixed in!
Green Kitchen Cart is now located in Sala Kamreuk: goo.gl/maps/cRT5Arm9drx88B4J8
Hi which side is The Little Green Cart on please
Old Market side - this map is pretty accurate: goo.gl/maps/KmEFKqMYJ7D7XhBCA
Before that I would have breakfast in one of the restaurants on the North side of the Old Market
It’s a noodle soup with 2 meats , potato and carrot and tastes amazing, I have the same every time, I just like it so much
I call Rathas mum , “mama” and she often gives me something extra when she has it, Ratha is my best friend in Siem Reap
Now I’m stuck in Melbourne we talk often on messenger.
Gary are they still going? I will have a look next time I'm down there.
@@BIGJED75 yes they are...Ratha always says when they have a day off...the last one was a couple of days ago
@garyroberts3859 do you have a Google Maps link for Rathas?
...asking for a friend...
i will try that chicken phad thai this week the rest i pass.prefer viva, temple ,red piano, pot&pan paris backery, my favorite foodstalls didnt survive covid i guess
The pad thai is fantastic! Pot & Pan do really nice pizzas and we are big fans of Temple coffee on the Wat Bo side of the river. Never eaten at Red Piano - what do you have when you eat there?
Those prices on the blackboard are legit!
They just won't quit!
Prices have gone up since then but still excellent value 👌

I think My little Cafe looked the best to me!. wow, great prices again, I own a Burger barf in The Kingdom of Tonga, and would love to open a place over there selling Doner kebabs and Burgers, if there is a market for western foon. the people are supposed to be very nice from what i am hearing.
Sounds great! My little Cafe is still open and doing well.
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
Great places for lunch, But I’m a little disappointed, I expected Claire to do her best imitation of Mark Weins , regards Peter ,
Haha, I haven't got my eye roll, or as he calls it, my 'delicious face' down just yet!
Food Vlogging is a art form he has mastered. Plus I think we would burst into flames if we ate that amount of chilli.
Cesar spring roll
Yeah! They are my pick as well :)
I get extra sauce and crumbs, mmmm. That's a pro tip.
❤️❤️❤️
The vegetarians cost almost nothing😂 thank you.😍❤❤
You're welcome 😊
Isn't doesn't get any more riel than this!
Such great food! Green Kitchen Cart has moved but is still going.
Are masks being worn? Wow a lot of food!!!
Yes, masks are required in supermarkets, and many people wear them a the markets here.
Mmmmm, yes and mainly no. At Western run restaurants mainly yes, but it's very lacking at other places. I try and wear one as much as I can, to stop the dust, keeps the sun off your face and maybe helps stop the spread of C19.
a plethora of Indian restaurants there and none made your list?
We love Indian but we don't generally have it for lunch. That's why none in this list of 5.
@@ForRiel We've been to Siem Reap half a dozen times, last trip was just to eat at various Indian places. 🤣
a Tip for you - You have to monetize so UA-cam will recommend your vids otherwise people will not find you. i know you do not do this for money.
We are going to donate every cent back to Cambodia. So hopefully we can buy lunch for many people in the future.
