My ugly face is in that crowd somewhere. Went to see Teenage Fanclub, ended up seeing Nirvana as well. There was a lot of firsts for me that weekend. Best 40 quid I ever spent.

Cardiacs! Yes they were amazing. I say 'were' coz their later stuff wasnt up to much. I lived in a squat in Derby for a while and we mostly listened to Cardiacs, Sisters of Mercy and New model Army but we also had silverfish... in the carpet. lol.
Back in the day , before you had to endure a full lineup of pretentious pop stars . . . . . . . . . . . .you had Lesley Rankine screaming at you instead . . . . . . . . . . . . .good times . . . . . .
Oh god I loved the festival. I grew up in Reading so I remember when it was mainly bikers and rockers going there, but in the late 80's alot of 'kids' started going too. My first was 1990 when I was 16, my last was 1998. I know I was there when this set was played but I probably wasnt watching silverfish coz I didnt know about them until I heard Vitriola. I was in the crowd when Kurt Cobain rolled out in a wheelchair and I was in the crowd when Donita(?) of L7 threw her tampon into the crowd lol. I was gutted when I found out that no-one liked L7 coz I loved them at the time. Probably my favourite band I ever watched was Die Cheerleader, they were in a small tent and I was really close to the lead singer who is amazing in many ways. Unforgettable. Also, the biggest disappointment for me was when I saw eminem because he came as D12 or whatever his band was called and he mainly played cartoon videos on the big screen. Shit.
I was at this. I brought the Fucking Driving Or What tshirt from the merch stand for 7 quid. Funny the things I remember when nowadays I forget where I put my keys.
met n saw silverfish got there autographs at phoenix festival 1993. as the bouncers lifted us over my cousin accidentally kicked fuzz in the head. good times good band
I lent Fuzz some bog roll on the Monday morning while in the queue. I think I had the only toilet roll on site! Lol! Here I am posting in March 2020 where toilet roll is just as scarce!!! Loved these guys at Norwich Arts Centre when they were promoting the Total F***in Asshole Ep Check the lack of automatons standing in a line with their mobiles held aloft. Moshing was far more fun, you could wear it like a badge of honour!!
They did, however, play at the New Cross Venue the night before, with Hole supporting. I was at both and needless to say it was one of the best weekends of my life.

Same here. In Glasgow they blew Fugazi off the stage.
Quality. Gutted when they split.
