Hey.... It's because it was 100 degrees with 100% humidity during this dyno. I've never experienced those weather conditions at Brentuning. The dyno at Brentuning reads normal.
What's with the "hot day" nonsense? The dyno can correct the actual numbers to bring them into alignment with standardized testing conditions. 6th gear (with stock gearing) is overdrive dyno’s always done in fifth. The results are….. low. In an old video you managed to push the bikes beyond 200+ rwhp even my old panigale is over that!
The BrenTune‘s are notoriously, weak on the Ducati’s. If you switched over to SLR, Woolwich, or Deussen I bet the V4R would probably beat the S. Note the only bike without the BrenTune is the bike that won the shoot out… Not a coincidence.
I agree, I don't like any canned tune. I prefer Woolwich, def. if you are running a wideband. You can pull the logs and make changes while on the street. In addition, you will be able to have a cleaner part throttle mapping.
Honestly I’m really not surprised at the results, especially with the heat wave we’ve been dealing with. I’d propose doing this same test again in October, and 1 last time in January. Im sure there will be different results, especially with some good ole free Nos with cold air. but also there’s 1 thing that is also hindering these numbers, and it’s the fact that I haven’t seen 1 dyno tuner that has a fan strong enough to produce the wind velocity of your bike doing 150+, thus unable to account for the ram air that most modern bikes have. I’ve seen 1 shop that after they dial it in on the rollers they take it out with a data logger and then further fine tune. Because I’m sure that air/fuel ratio changes with the ram air. So while manufacturers claim a horsepower number it makes sense you usually don’t see it on a stationary dyno. I’m only saying this because we know we don’t race on dynos, and while the graph may say one thing, the real world can produce a different outcome. IB you know you my man, and I’m not saying anything to be negative, I actually think this was a very informative video, as per usual.
