Remember watching this at 9 years old with my dad and after that catch jumping into his arms hugging him and celebrating was my first great memory of Hawkeye football and got me hooked
Chris Balz doesn’t get any better than that!!! I’m a LSU fan, and this was a heartbreaker. But I def have fond memories of watching games with my dad (RIP)...and these type of moments can’t be replaced by anything!!
Tennessee fan here. I remember watching this in a local Walmart that had a McDonald’s in the back of the Walmart (weird setup I know), but THIS game was on and I remember watching that play from Tate to Holloway happen vividly while sitting in that McDonalds at about 9 years old. Ever since then I’ve been a secondary Iowa fan. Tennessee got the best of Iowa today, but I’ll always be a secondary fan of Iowa and root for them whenever I see them on TV mainly due to this play. Go Vols & Go Hawks!
I was 7 years old and I will never forget this. When they scored my dad was holding me and I was sitting on his lap. When the touchdown was scored my dad jumped up and by excitement jumped real quick and he picked me up and got a dent in my little head from the ceiling hahaha. No Iowa fan can forget this moment and game. So awesome.
Fun Fact. Howard Jones is the only coach to go unbeaten and untied as the Iowa Head Coach. He also holds the record for longest win streak at Iowa at 20 games. Yale has 18 National Championships in football, the last was coached by Howard Jones. USC has 11 National Championships in football the first was coached by Howard Jones. Howard Jones won his first National Title in 1909 at Yale, he won his last in 1939 at USC.
I love finding good quality smaller sports youtube channel, SUBBED!! I have my own college football you've channel.... Gold and Blue Dude check it out of you get the chance!!
Why you no post the 2014 Outback bowl? The one where Iowa fans came in all cocky and got punished by an average LSU football team. Hawkeye fans were some pretty shitty people at that game. I've had much better experiences with them since, but they were repeatedly trying to fight LSU fans after the game. Iowa fans were livid after that embarrassing loss.
@@adamealey8802 Iowa never had a chance in that game. The game was so lopsided. It was quite boring because the outcome was never in question. BTW, LSU won by 7, however LSU allowed Iowa to score with 1 minute left in the game making the score much closer than it ever was. LSU was a FAR superior team than Iowa and LSU played super conservative and played not to lose, making the game terrible to watch. Iowa barely had any yards in the first half, the woke up in the second half, nut Iowa looked like a middle school team in the first half. It happens when playing SEC schools. Big Ten schools are used to getting destroyed in the New Years Day games every year by the SEC. It's just part of life.

Y’all should have been in the stands after this game… It was glorious!
We need to tell the networks to bring back those intros because that hyped these games up and made u watch even if you weren't a fan
This was one of the most hard hitting and physical games I have ever watched.
