I've lived in US most of my life, and china for a short while. Not everyone is very political, most of us only care about the living standard and how convenient everything is. Your problem is you think like a Taiwanese, thinking you're different than the people in mainland China. In the eyes of any other races other than Chinese in everywhere else, we're all the same. Thinking like you're a different race just because of where you live and slightly different legal system makes you feel trapped. There was a time that people living in Hong Kong Island and Kowloon look down on people in New Territories, if you think that was stupid then you're thinking exactly the same way. Think of China as a bigger HK and you're just shopping in New Territories cause the things there are little cheaper.
Sure you are an original mainlander. Hongkongers never look down upon people in New territories. You are dreaming and made up this crazy comment. Sure I live in NY more than 30 years and is a middle class there. I still do not make friends with mainlanders because they are aliens. This is a disgusting race!
Mainlanders should be in communist China; how dare you come to our US? Expect Trump to make America great again and follow R Reagan to free communist authoritarian nations . Keep original US values !
