There are also a lot of symbolism about racism. Like the police beating Morpheus reminds me of Rodney king beating. And when Morpheus breaks his chains during his escape. Also everyone is white in the matrix and mutilcultural on Zion.
There’s a big cross that appears on neo when he sacrifices himself and massive golden wings of light appear behind him, it’s at least a little bit about Jesus/Christianity.
I said the exact same thing. They just jumped on the social hype train when they saw an opening and ruined my favorite scifi series as a sacrifice for admittance to this gay club
He's saying that the movie isn't exclusive defined by the elements that make it up. The matrix is a story about breaking out of a computer world told with familiar archetypes.
In this very video he doesn't deny it. It's just Matrix is very allegorical and ambiguous, so to come out and pigeonhole it for some political points cheapens it and robs people of their perspective on the movie.
I don't get the trans matrix analogy, it's kind of like comparing robocop to jesus christ Sure there are hints and the author said that's the idea but if you watch the movies you have to jump through hoops to make the rest of the comparisons Literally the only strong points both movies make is that neo chooses a pill that's red and robocop came back and he saves us all or something
I agree with Nick here actually. Sure, it's undeniable that the wachowski sisters would had the trans-experience in mind, but it's only been explicitly connected to it only after the sisters came out. The film is generally about living in some kind of false society/consciousness and overcoming/waking from. It's too broad to say that it's specifically about being trans. Also, I disagree with Stavros, once the artist had put the art out into the world, they to become just another a secondary interpreter of that art
@@TheDamnWinner But it wasn't relevant because they only started transitioning recently. Fun fact: the Matrix plot has been really stolen, but from an Italian comic book by Stefano Disegni named "Razzi Amari" wich came out up years before the movie, in 1992 to be precise. I shit you not, the story (altough in a lighter mood) is the SAME. Look it up.

Basically robot revolt from abuse, form their own country, humans attack and start war that reduced humanity to the situation in the matrix.
Gonna enjoy this clip before the age verification thing turns it gay.
Alternate title of this video: Nick explains the plot of the Matrix to Stav
gta v driving makes for some good background footage, nice video
The gayest approach to enjoying film is identifying a sub-narrative string and entirely focusing on that, where "the point" is a composition of scenes of widely varying narrative importance that make up a minority of the film yet with respect to the sub-narrative are of equal or even inverse importance.
This movie isn't about anything other then cool ways to use bullet time.
phillip k dick in 1977 (i think) said to a a group of people at a book convention said that he believed we were living in a simulation.
Which is essentially a meaningless statement.
@@RootinrPootine well.
I think theres actually video of that.. it was from a convention in France I think. I've seen pieces of it somewhere. He comes off like a crazy person.
Anyone else get a little boozed n drive in GTA like a normal person n listen to podcasts/music? It’s kinda fun tbh.
Better yet, first person with a motorbike. It’s hella smooth.
Props to Mullen for seeing Wizards that movie is fuuuuucked up lol
I watched that movie when I was 10 blew my mind
The Matrix is clearly about doing an unironic version of Fight Club
The plot twist being the jews all along fucking annihilated me, and also the agents making neos asshole close two insanely funny bits
It was us this whole toyim
The one time adam deserved to be torn to shreds and he wasn't
I have never seen the Matrix. Gotta agree with Nick on this one
It’s based on the book simulacum and simulgaytion by Jean baudrillard
It also references many other nihilistic gnostic ideas
Boydrillhard
@@douglasbacon8382 I mean the book is literally in the movie
@@charlesgraham1759 yeah I know
There are also a lot of symbolism about racism.
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is a masterpiece for only high-level autismos. One of us!
Nick denying any allegorical, symbolic, or mythological meaning is absolutely amazing.
The Wizards is actually about that every problem in the end is solved with a fucking gun.
Like that damn "Closing Time" song by Semisonic. They say it's about child birth...no it the fuck isn't. It's about a bar at closing time.
That Joey Pants impression is dead on
Saying every hero story is about Jesus is like people who compare everything to Harry Potter.
Read another book ffs.
As a deeply closeted trans-woman i’m
proud of Nicc for sticking to her guns here
Nick Mullen is very angry with Jesus 😂😂😂
I need the bit where Ian Fidance is in the Matrix
I don't get the trans matrix analogy, it's kind of like comparing robocop to jesus christ
Sure there are hints and the author said that's the idea but if you watch the movies you have to jump through hoops to make the rest of the comparisons
Literally the only strong points both movies make is that neo chooses a pill that's red and robocop came back and he saves us all or something
The Hidden Figures but it’s The Matrix but had me crying 🤣🤣🤣
Crazy part is that Stav was right Matrix 4 was about becoming trans
Nick is 100000000% correct.
Nick takes it so personal
animatrix touched on why the robots are evil--
It's very convenient that The Matrix became a narrative for the trans movement right around the time the Wachowski Bros became the Wachowski sisters.
I think the creator of the art can determine what their intention was
@@TheDamnWinner OK miss wachowski
@@TheDamnWinner But it wasn't relevant because they only started transitioning recently. Unless, you know, they discussed how they were both trans and agreed to add minute subtext about their real world perspective in a movie they were creating 20 years ago about hacker jesus and his group of cyber ninjas...
and then can an artist really just adjudicate what their art is supposed to mean with no context or questions asked? p.s
I'm very gay
ps really really gay
@@SomeGuyHowGoesIt shut up it’s the Wachowski Beings now.
"ergo it would not be a good look."
Fun fact: the Matrix plot has been really stolen, but from an Italian comic book by Stefano Disegni named "Razzi Amari" wich came out up years before the movie, in 1992 to be precise.
I shit you not, the story (altough in a lighter mood) is the SAME. Look it up.
What if most of the black people just get white avatars in the Matrix? Then Morpheus is freed and like, wtf, I'm a *boop*
