I actually liked the role tuoba Yu though he was the villain. He was very intelligent and controled in his evilness. I would think if wei young had chosen him, he would have turned good LOL
I like him more than Tuoba Jun. A redemption arc focused on him when Wei Young chooses him would have made this drama much more appealing. He loved Wei Young even when he found out that she didn’t love him that he even risked his life to save her from being stabbed. He’s the classic example of The Bad guy who would kill the world world for the woman he loves compared to the Good guy who would kill the woman he loves for the world.

I'm reading the manga version now, i think it followed the novel closely...the drama version really changed quite a few details. I heard that it was not allowed to have the 'reborn' theme in the drama version so they took that away. Replaced it with switching identity. In the manhwa (manga), she was not a princess from another country but she came back to live her own life again (second chance) from when she was a young girl in the small village before being fetched back to the main household. So she's Weiyang through and through. Not some princess taking over Weiyang 's identity. Also the name of Touba Yu in the manga is the 7th prince. I feel in the drama version, Touba yu is actually 3rd prince character in the manga/ book version (Touba Zhen) .. i haven't seen the main guy's name (Touba Jun) from drama version in the manga yet. I'm suspecting it's actually the 7th prince's character who's the main lead in the manga version, his name is Touba Yu. After she got reborn again, they met in the small village. So she met him first. 3rd prince was the man she was in love before but she was betrayed and killed (first life before rebirth to relive her life again). Me feeling a bit confused since I saw the drama version first ...lol😅 Updated: Since the manga isn't complete, I continue with the audio book version. Oh my, the story is so different from the drama version with a different main guy. Lol. Main guy is Li Minde. The adopted brother in Li's household. He's supposedly very handsome and beautiful in the novel. So that actor in the drama version totally cannot be him as he doesn't have the looks. But for drama version, that actor did a good job as his acting is pretty good. The other half of the story in the novel took place in another kingdom where Li Minde's real father is the emperor. Main girl went there to take revenge for her mom and grandma as they were killed by people sent by the Queen from that kingdom because Weiyang caused the death of her daughter. That daughter/princess have married Touba Zhen and caused a lot of troubles. She have caused the death of Weiyang's sister-in-law whom she was friends with before SIL is married into her family. Li Minde also changed his name to Yuan Lie after he went back to that kingdom and took the identity as one of the emperor's brothers son. Even he is son to the emperor but his real mother is actually emperor 's sister. So he was born out of a incest relationship. Though when his parents first met, they had no idea that they were siblings. They founded out after they had fallen in love so it was too late. Weiyang also took the identity of a daughter from a prominent rich family in this kingdom.

I know this drama is princess wei young and I watched before in TV this is 1 of my favorite historical in chinese drama...
