South Africans we need to wake up and start telling people about our country cause our African brothers and sisters are trying to do so on our behalf, I appreciate that but they are failing us when it comes to name pronunciation and the history nje
I hear you. We tend to keep to ourselves waaaay to much. Which is both a good and a bad thing. South Africans are more worried about SA than the rest of the world. It’s the same reason why you barely ever see us doing country comparison videos and all those things. Even though some of us are well traveled.
@@zuluuyasabeka9303 i have been to all South African provinces besides Eastern Cape.I haven't crossed the border.I came close to crossing when I went to Phitshane in Mahikeng just before the Botswana 🇧🇼 border.Apparently there is Phitshane in South Africa 🇿🇦 and another in Botswana 🇧🇼.

I live in Pretoria, have Family in Joburg and Bloemfontein (which i visit once in a while) lived in Cape town for a few years and Durban is a favorite vacation spot for me
Pronunciations
Bloemfontein: the "tein" is pronounced tane
Polokwane: "Pollo-kwa-nê" 3 syllables

It was fascinating watching the Durban section, because I was born there in 1948 and lived there for fourteen years, when my parents and I moved to the UK. That is to say, I was a child and boy during the apartheid years (though not knowing that at the time). It was very much an English enclave, as also the whole of Natal (Kwa-Zulu Natal now), with very little involvement with Afrikanerdom. The city was very lovely, though of course white-controlled, and, now, gosh, just in this snippet, the city is entirely unrecognisable and, quite rightly, belonging to the African peoples. Born in 91 I am a Durban boy..Iv been in Cambodia for 9 months going home in a few days time. Can't wait to get braai meat and pepper steak pie😂..it's winter in Durbs so you know it will be lovely and warm.
@@juciyjcurtis7938 ...So you're 31/32? That's a good age to travel, and I hope your Cambodia visit was an enjoyable enlightening one. I do remember that around the Christmas period in Durban you'd go to the beach with just some cooked chicken and crisps because it was so hot, as was the sand, on which you hopped from one place to another using a towel. It was so wonderful to dive into the sea.

I'm from East London and have always felt like it is an underrated city. Although it is not a big city a the best place and 1 of the most beautiful cities in South africa
Bloemfontein , bloem means when flowers opens we call that in Afrikaans , bloem , for example , the flowers bloem , fontein , is fountain in English .

Polokwane only got classified as a city in 1992 when provinces were about to seperate and Limpopo which was called Northern Transvaal then which in 96 changed to Northern Province was about to be a province on its own.Polokwane which was called Pietersburg until 2002 was just about to be the capital city of The Northern Province.
Port Elizabeth has been renamed to Gqeberha it is located in Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape
Even the list is somehow wrong, polokwane and Kimberly shouldn't be on the top 10 ahead of nelspruit (mbombela) /maf-town ... But I understand the presenter isn't SA'an

Plet isn't really a city , more of a town. The Western Cape only has 2 official cities : George and Cape Town
The commentary in the video you played isn't from a South African, her pronunciations aren't correct for some of those provinces
For easy pronunciation say Bloomfonteen or tane for Bloomfontein
She says Polokween instead of Polokwane, remember guys there's an a in kwane
I'm biased as I'm Cape Townian born, Canadian. It gives me epic scenery for photos that look like a professional took them instead of my phone camera through a car window, while in motion. Thats just how beautiful it is. I'm also Cape Coloured and as someone says below, you guys and me think alike.

but if you have to look at the facts and statistics - Nationally every SOUTH AFRICAN ( if they can afford it ) would like to come down to the MOTHER CITY at least once in their lifetime
people of Johannesburg in particular / - in the summer flood to Cape Town - even though Durban is closer
SO it is what it is - even Durban people will rather spend their holiday
in fact all South Africans would come down to Cape Town if the budget allows it

I just have 2 tiny issues with this video, viz.
(1) although she pronounced the Polo part of Polokwane correctly, she messed up the 2nd part, kwane. It's kwah-neh.
So Polokwane is pronounced: Pollo-kwahneh, and
(2) as a Durban born and bred South African aka Durbanite, living in Cape Town for the past 29 years, the top 3 cities in South Africa, in order, are: (1) Durban (2) Cape Town (3) Joburg and all 3 cities are a must for any tourist.

These videos are not created by South Africans. So they just mess up the pronunciations 😂
The person providing commentary here is obviously not South African, hence incorrect pronunciation of names, incorrect pictures and misinformation. For example the three Rondavels which are in Mpumalanga province were shown under Polokwane which is in the Limpopo province
there is a lot of places to visit in pretoria but she just skipped, not mentioning rustenberg and mpumalanga but let me say i understand, it would be best to get a south african doing that video because she butchered a lot of things.
