@@woodstream6137 It actually was Canada that tried that, and it was about 25 years ago. It was their own balloon that they lost control of, then decided to be responsible (unlike China) and try bring it down. They fired about 1000 rounds into the actual balloon, and while it did begin to descend slowly.....it actually descended WAY TOO slow to where it finally landed in Finland. IT LITERALLY WENT ACROSS THE ENTIRE ATLANTIC OCEAN BEFORE IT TOUCHED GROUND. And yes, when finally recovered, there were a ton of bullet holes in the balloon. Turns out weather balloons don't pop like a traditional helium filled rubber/latex balloon. The amount of comments that don't understand this are just plain mind boggling... 🤦‍♂️
Also, the missile that the F22 shot into the BALLOON (ie it only hit the balloon, it purposely didn't damage the payload) did not have a traditional warhead. Instead it was modified to tear apart the balloon and nothing else, which it did. Please watch multiple videos closely and in slow motion of the actual hit. It's not hard to tell that the balloon is destroyed, with bits of it flying around, all while the payload is totally intact and just begins to fall straight down.
Unfortunately the majority of people commenting on this video are too lazy to actually look into all the available data.

Plus this is further proof that when the US found out about it. They likely jammed and microwaved that object to the point its sensors were likely fried and the solar panels on that thing indicates it was likely a remote controlled or guided craft. We tend to pay lower costs to Asian countries for their imports, which sometimes is good for Americans. The scary aspect of all this is just how much we depend on them for just about everything. The balloon should have been brought down in a controlled descent so that its payload could have been recovered intact. For example, solid carbon dioxide or similar substance that upon vaporizing displaces the inert gas in the balloon that escapes through a hole in the balloon so that the balloon slowly descends to earth.

Curious question. depending on the payload, electronics etc. is it better to shoot it down over land or water to recover data. i doubt that the instrumentation is encased like a black box on an airliner. Salt water can destroy electronics then again so can hitting the ground from 60,000 feet. i have not seen the Pentagon give a rational explanation of this which would answer i a lot of questions about why they waited. There is a limited debris field if a balloon is punctured and the payload falls down (maybe a few square miles at most). So the argument that they didnt want to hit a population center or property just doesnt fly (no pun intended). i smell coverup.

It just seems people who are super into government conspiracy theories won't accept answers no matter how rational. A helicopter can go up approx 25k feet. That balloon was 60k damn feet waaaaay up there lol. There isnt much in the way of a controlled descent for it. IF they shot it down over land, absolutely it would have been more likely to destroy what it carried, as well as hit civilian property or people causing injuries or death. So, given those two arguments alone, to shoot it down over land would more likely destroy what it had, and or also cause harm to civilians, Shooting it down over sea with boats/ships in place to recover it is most reasonable. But it's like people will just straight to any conclusion for a conspiracy theory.
