Like THAT song, it was on the group's THIRD ALBUM with Thom Bell , "ROCK AND ROLL BABY" But Avco Records pulled a fast one : The Label's Owners, Hugo and Luigi, cut Bell out, took his LAST HIT song, YOU MAKE ME FEEL BRAND NEW , and put it on an album that THEY produced, "LET'S PUT IT ALL TOGETHER" ....while withdrawing Bell's ROCK AND ROLL BABY album from sale . That made their "LET'S PUT IT ALL TOGETHER" go Gold, but denied Stylistics fans the far superior "ROCK AND ROLL BABY album . It took YEARS before THAT album was re-released on CD. Had the group remained with Bell, PAYBACK IS A DOG would have been the NEXT SINGLE . BUT it was STILL a popular ALBUM CUT.
Love The Stylistics. These guys are great in concert. Saw them two weeks ago in Detroit. Eban has great showmanship and gets in on the dance routines. He doesn't have to copy anybody, he's gifted. I like Russell Thompkins too, but this is the group.

These 4 never sang a note of this song in recording studio. Russell Thompkins Jr recorded this song alone. Eban hired to mimick Russell when Russell left.. He finally got tired of copying someone else's songs and also left. Good for you Eban.it was past time for you to go on your own, sing the songs you write. .are your voice famous. Well tedkay, remember, the Temps won Grammys with Dennis. David was his own worst enemy. And Ron Tyson is still with Otis to this day! Eban Brown was the perfect replacement for Russell Thompkins, just like the gentleman who replaced Steve Perry in Journey. The groups didn't miss a beat except that musical styles changed. The Temps had some great leads, even after Dennis left, Ollie Ali Woodson, Beau Henderson (he did the last Temp hit, "Stay"). The beat goes on!

The Stylistics did it right! not like Otis Willaims replacing David Ruffin with Dennis who sounds nothing like Ruffin~~Trying to replace Eddie Kendricks with Ron Tyson~ when the closet one to Eddie Was Baltimore's Own Damon Harris!~ we as Fans of the Tempts, Stylistics etc the great One's! we want the artist regardless of the member changes, stay true to the sound that got you on top!~Otis blew it! even though they did well! Thom Bell didn't think the other Stylistics members were very good singers so he used various studio singers to backup Russell Thompkins. Bell has said bluntly that Russell Thompkins IS the Stylistics. That fact is undeniable regardless of how this particular tribute group sounds. They're just singing the songs Thompkins made famous.
