Excellent instructions dad and daughter. A help might be to give us a little more coaching on the ghosts role and how the cards work. Once intuited and going however we finally got it.
I know this is a year old , but just found it and ordered it from Amazon . I have watched a couple of run throughs and you did explain one thing differently . The ticks and crosses counters to obtain clairvoyant cards , you say once used that's it they go into the discard pile and out of the game for the rest of the time 28:20 . Other reviews I have watched say that you get those tokens back when the clock strikes 4am , on the clock face itself is a marker at 4am that does look like it depicts those tokens .
Just wanted to point out that on a 4+ player game you only use the culprits, locations, and weapons from the player's correctly guessed sleeves for the true culprit part. I think its weird in the 2-3 player variant were you randomly have to add 2 sets of culprits, locations, and weapons that were previously wrong. I know why that had to do it but thematically its goofy.
+Michael Cross Agreed. I know it didn't make it into the video review, but I think I mentioned it in the blog post. In the 2-3 player game, the final part makes no sense thematically since you are narrowing down everything, only to bring in 2 random sets that make the first part of the game meaningless.
+Dad vs Daughter Also, the final game cards have to point each an element of a set. You cannot choose to make all of them point the culprit: one the weapon, one the culprit, one the place.
+Tony Collins We publish new videos every week so there's always something new. If you have Facebook, I'd suggest following us there too as we talk about games we are publishing for the month as well as looks as to what is coming later in the year, etc.
Finally got a copy of mysterium and played it on this passed Halloween 2017! Fun and thematic game! Was curious when you chose your vision cards for the last round, you chose all three vision cards for clues leading towards the person alone. I thought you are only allowed to play 1 vision card for each person place and weapon? Wondering if you just house rule this? Thanx for the video
+Paul Jeffers Because of the the way game works, in a two player game it essentially would end in a 50/50 guess even without the vision cards in play. Therefore the addition of more suspects sets are added to the game in order to make it a little more challenging. However this does break the theme and immersion quite abruptly.
She could have won, because she got the item by the end of hour 5, and she moved the timer to hour six, and then the ghost changes it to hour 7 within the same turn. plus doesn't the rules say that each card needs to be representative of each component (you cant have all three cards be about the person card, etc), but put more emphasis and focus on the person card (have the strongest, most "dead giveaway" card be about the person)?
+iwishiwuzbella Yes, we did move the clock hand one more than we should have and the vision cards should have been a one for one match up with the cards instead of multiple pointing to the same card. However, the end game guess is a one time thing, so if you get it wrong there, it doesn't matter how much time you had left on the clock.
+Dad vs Daughter is that in the English rules? if so that sucks. I may just stick with Polish/Ukrainian rules then (as long as you still have rounds available you can guess)
I've just bought this game and watched your tutorial because I will mostly be playing it 2 player, so thank you for helping me understand the rules! I have a question that might be obvious, but who knows! In the final stage of the game when there are four sets to choose from, Does the ghost choose a random set for the killer or is there a reason behind it? Thanks :)
To be honest, it's been a few years since we played it 2 player and I don't currently have my copy handy to check the rules. Maybe another viewer can help us out with the answer? Thanks for watching!
According to the rules for 2 players, you first create two extra groups of cards using psychic cards that you discarded during the game (Character, location, object). There will then be 4 groups to choose from and not just 2. The previous correct guesses among groups 1 and 2 are irrelevant. The ghost here chooses secretly a numbered group of the 4 groups. So here, it can be 1, 2, 3, or 4 and the rest of this Phase 2 consists of the ghost playing 3 vision cards FACE UP so that the players can interpret/choose ONE of those groups to see if it is correct. (From back page of instructions - also available online). Hope this helps and better late than never lol ;)
Ah Mysterium. If Clue and Dixit had a baby. There's been a lot of mixed reviews about this game. I'm still really excited to play it at some point, but a lot of people said it ended up being over-hyped and wasn't as good as a lot of people made it out to be. I hope this isn't true when I finally play it. I still have high hopes for this one.
+Wonder Creation Studios Initially I wasn't buying into the hype. Is it a great game? Well, it's probably not going to make my top 5 for the year, but I have enjoyed it with 2 & 6 player counts. I think the game shines better with 4+ players. My gaming group has enjoyed it.
+Dad vs Daughter Fair enough. It seems lots of reviewers say they loved it and it was everything they could have wanted, while others were saying it was okay and then some people didn't care about it very much. I still can't give any solid opinions because I have yet to still play it. I know one thing that will affect my opinion of it is if it's over-priced for what you get. The components do look good though. Hopefully it's worth the price.
+Wonder Creation Studios As with all games, I really think you have to play it and then decided for yourself it's a game for you. I know I've played and really liked many games that some in my gaming group (and other reviewers) have hated....and vice versa.
+Wonder Creation Studios I do think it's a great game and very accessible for people who aren't into gaming. BUT it doesn't have the best longevity if you keep playing with the same people over and over again because people start to have lots of knowledge about what the cards could mean based off of previous games. If you rotate some of the game group out and change up who is the ghost that keeps it fresh :)
+Rum & Board Hey Rum & Board!! Good to see you on here, it's me Boards & Brews! The awesome boardgame couple from Indianapolis reviewing board games weekly on our blog. XD Wow, that sure sounded like a mini product pitch. Under a different name on this account. ;) I appreciate your response, that is helpful! Hey if you're going to be at GenCon this year, I'll be in the press room. Cheers!
Hej there. BIG THX for your helpful play through and explanation! You answered our questions because the rules aren't that clear. It was fun watching you play. Hope to see you soon. Your review is the best online for mysterium if you ask me. (: I subscribed your channel. Have a good one. Greets from germany, berlin.
+Jay Exonauts We're enjoying it. Check back on Halloween as we will be presenting a special encore play through of Mysterium, this time with Daughter as the ghost!
Just out of curiosity. Does the game come with more than one sand-timer? That way one can be resetting while another is in use? Or is there only one timer?
This game looks really fun. Watching various videos and I like this explanation a lot. Thanks for the upload!
Thanks for watching!
I've had a love-hate relationship with Mysterium. Thanks to you, guys, from now on: I love it.
Excellent instructions dad and daughter. A help might be to give us a little more coaching on the ghosts role and how the cards work. Once intuited and going however we finally got it.
Glad I watched you play this. I am way more excited to get this game now. Thanks for the tip on not throwing away those tiny tokens!
Love the play through. Would be great to see you guys play again but inverting your roles now, Megan the ghost and Tim the mediums :)
+Roberto BC Might be a Halloween 'Special'
Thank you guys, this really helped us get started!
Thanks for this playthru.. was looking for how to play with my brother at two players.
Fantastic video series. Keep up the great work !

You are correct. You do get those tokens back at that time.
Thanks :)
I thought you didn't use them at all in a two or three player game?
Just wanted to point out that on a 4+ player game you only use the culprits, locations, and weapons from the player's correctly guessed sleeves for the true culprit part. +CrowMercury True. I was trying to get things that also overlapped and I didn't explain that well in the video.
Just got this game. Very clean explanation of the rules. This is very helpful :D
+Steven Fox We're glad it helped you. Thanks for watching!
Just wondering if you have any new videos coming out. I teach my daughter how to play based on your instructions.

I don't understand why you place 2 more sets of person, place, object cards out to figure out who did the murder.
+Paul Jeffers In a 2 player game, you put 4 sets out.

Thats why this game is best played with 5-6 players

Yes, though you could house rule it.
Thanks to gameplay.
My mom and i will play now

Only 1 timer is included but we've really never needed more time for it to reset during turns.
