The bit where Bill said "Imagine someone doing this to you" which made the Doctor stop wiping her mind reminded me so much of Donna. It literally broke me.
I think he did - he knows Clara existed, he just doesn't remember the details about her. Plus, they played Clara's theme in that scene, so it was definitely more about Clara than Donna.
I Z, in the written script for Hell Bent, it explicitly mentions that the Doctor remembers who Clara is when he sees the mural of her on the TARDIS. We were supposed to get that from his expression upon seeing it, but I suppose that was lost on most viewers.
Blue Sparx I think the idea is that he knows what she looks like now and he pieced together a few of there adventures yet he will never remember her in them
LOOOOOOOVED it! That was the doctor I soo missed!! I missed him for being away so long, and I missed him for being happy to show all of the universe to an excited Bill!!
Am I the only one who thinks this channel should post full episodes? This is the OFFICIAL Doctor Who channel. They can't get copyright strikes from themselves.
I have never commented on a Doctor Who video, but that was phenomenal. I am in utter shock, Capaldi, Bill and Nardole have the best chemistry and it was full of shocks and I love it!
I'll admit that The Pilot may have made me cry... Just maybe. I've been waiting for this so long, and it's so truly amazing to start yet another new adventure in the TARDIS. Here's to many more!
absolutely loved the episode. one of the best opening episodes ever, in my opinion. Bill surpassed my wildest expectations. She's just the right mix of inquisitive and funny and asks all the right questions but in ways we haven't seen before. Can't wait to see more of her! Also, loved the Fan Show discussion! gonna look forward to it every week! really interesting to gather some behind-the-scenes knowledge. I need the lava lamp and the promo poster!
aaw my gosh Pearl is so awesome, I can't wait to see where her character is going! and Steven is just so adorable, I worship that man! this season will be the fandom's big regenaration
"One day I'll learn how to do this show" - Steven Moffat 2017. As for the episode, I loved it! Can't wait for the rest of the series and for Capaldi to go out with a bang!
I enjoyed this episode and it looks like a sign of good things to come. It serves as a excellent introduction into to Doctor who but it also had references which long term fans would understand.
My twin brothers, Leo and Oliver, celebrated their ninth birthday today - and this was a lovely present from Doctor Who to them. One of them, Oliver, who is really into the show and particularly loves Colin Baker and Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, went to check the bath was fully run out after the episode, in case any monsters came up through the drains...Pearl was ace as Bill, the character is developing nicely and Peter Capaldi utterly embodies the Doctor, he's such a wonderful ambassador for the childhood hero that he grew up loving for fifty years and then became, there's surely no finer success story than that. The Pilot seems to have gone down really well indeed.
Honestly, brilliant. Well done all, especially Pearl, for making me instantly care about Bill. Well done Steven, for an excellent episode. Thought you were going Waters of Mars for a bit. Really looking forward to seeing the traces of my childhood's Doctors, and running with you all this season.
The interview was fantastic from beginning to end plus the bonus footage of all fan media in all its art forms the video art of Peter Capaldi was terrific especially him in the opening credits from Doctor Who (1973) cannot wait for it to be on DVD because Series 10 looks to be epic :D
who else litruly shouted at the TV when Bill wanted to join her crush. I was like, "noooo!!!!! don't do it. BILL IMMA WARNING YOU NOW!!!!!" Such an amazing episode by the way. I've fallen In love with nardole and his one liners!!
I loved this episode. Especially when the doctor said 'Never underestimate a crush.' how very true. I've seen my friends do everything to be around their crush, so no doubt they would travel through time and space just to keep a promise and be with them.
Am I the only one who noticed Clara's theme playing while Bill was telling the Doctor about the memory wipe?!?! I really hope the Doctor remembers her and she can come back to comfort the Doctor as he regenerates... PLEASE MOFFAT!!!
The Pilot was so cool. Really felt like a soft reboot of the series. Bill was delightful and touching at times. Nardole is fun comic relief. Was scary at times, and Daleks! Peter is amazing as always, overall one of the best series premieres to date. Well done, and sets up a very exciting season.
I loved the episode!! It was funny, scary, emotional, intelligent and more! This showed me how much I'll miss Peter Capaldi. Also, I thought Pearl was excellent, Bill seems such a down to earth character (even if she isn't on earth)! Plus Matt Lucas had me in stitches throughout. And seeing the snippet of John Simm at the end got me so hyped! I hope the whole series continues like this. It'll mean Capaldi and Moffatt can go out with a bang which is what they deserve. Long may this continue because I love this show so so much! Keep it up!
I quite enjoyed it. Back to basics, no overly complicated story arc, and a companion I actually quite like. Bill is shaping up as someone who is a bit more relatable compared to Clara or Amy, and I am quite happy. It was a nice straightforward story, and it had some genuinely creepy moments. Bill is great, good job, Pearl Mackie, you hit it right off the bat.
I missed the first episode being aired but I've just watched it on iPlayer and I absolutely loved it. Nardole is going to end up one of my favourite characters by the end of the series and bill was a breath of fresh air as a new companion. I absolutely loved her and the dynamic she brings to the show. She's so new and quirky and, as demonstrated in the episode, not afraid to stand up for herself. Nardole was hilarious and after the Christmas episode last year I was wondering how he was still alive after the husbands of river song but that was cleared up at the beginning of this episode. All in all loved the episode.
Great episode with some great character moments by accomplished actors. I really liked the tardis intro, with the sense of awe and wonder brought back. I thought Peter Capaldi was much better in the quieter moments than the more bombastic episodes of previous series. I'm guessing it will unfortunately be less character driven in subsequent eps, but I'm crossing my fingers.
Steven moffatt has done it again. It was fantastic and very very funny. I think im going to love the companion due to the hilarious lines she has been given. Oh and the doctor was wonderful as always 😉It has definitely been worth the wait 😊
This episode is amazing! I love it! I already love Bill and her character. And the music. Oh, the music is so great! I love everything in this episode and I'm excited for the other episodes in series 10!
How do we get that lava lamp?! LOVED the episode by the way! The characters were awesome, I thought Bill and Heather's relationship was really touching, the music was excellent, the hair was excellent, the cgi was excellent, the humour was excellent! I really enjoyed Bill's introduction to the TARDIS, both humorous and magical, and really stood out from the crowd.
Time Lordian01 I thought it would involve the Ice Warriors because they were involved with the flood but I think they might continue that with the Ice Warriors episode
Oh wow... I.. Am speechless after watching The Pilot. Pearl Mackie is such a great actress!! The Doctor was amazing in this episode and so was nardole!! And OH MY GOD JOHN SIMM IN THE NEXT TIME TRAILERRRR!!!
Awesome episode the sad ones are always good (lump in the throat) Awwrrr😢 the doctor went back in time to get Bill some photographs of her mum because she couldn't remember her and didn't have any (that's why bill saw him in the mirror, taking the photo of her mum)
This pilot reminds me of Rose's first episode, because the episode is mainly focused on her. I also really liked the opening scene, it just draws you in and makes you wonder what is going on. What I really liked about it, was how horrifying it was. . . it really was brilliant.
What did you think of Bill's first episode, The Pilot? Let us know in the comments below! 💙💙
It was excellent! and the entire series looks incredible I cant wait
IT WAS PERFECT
We're off to a good start
Doctor Who honestly i love bill but i still can't think about anything else than that picture of river

I couldn’t take my eyes if it I NEED IT!
The bit where Bill said "Imagine someone doing this to you" which made the Doctor stop wiping her mind reminded me so much of Donna. It literally broke me.
Jerry To And because he had his own memory wiped when he forgot about Clara.
I don't think he remembered that though
I think he did - he knows Clara existed, he just doesn't remember the details about her. Plus, they played Clara's theme in that scene, so it was definitely more about Clara than Donna.
I Z, in the written script for Hell Bent, it explicitly mentions that the Doctor remembers who Clara is when he sees the mural of her on the TARDIS. We were supposed to get that from his expression upon seeing it, but I suppose that was lost on most viewers.

The Pilot was amazing.
My siblings got terrified when ever Heather screamed lol 😂

Doctor Who my mum jumped all tje time she was do scared I could not stop laughing
Anyone else get a vibe from the "water on Mars" episode?
yes, also Midnight vibes
Cap yes I guess she was repeating Bill
The water creature was a combination of the flood, the midnight entity and the ghosts from series 9.
That TARDIS console lava lamp is amazing!
I just watched the pilot it was so awesome
Angry A4 Gamer and Vlogs ikr
alfie Stapleton me three it was scary and awesome
Angry A4 Gamer and Vlogs yup.
i just love Steven Moffat, he's such a dedicated fan that he has taken the show to a whole new level. He will be really missed 😕
LOOOOOOOVED it!
That was the doctor I soo missed!! I missed him for being away so long, and I missed him for being happy to show all of the universe to an excited Bill!!
What a brilliant aftershow! Great presenter, and I'm so glad we have something to fill the void that DW Confidential left us.
Feeling very privileged to have my animation showcased in this week's episode of the fan show! ☺️
Really loved this episode the show looks so shiny and new :)
Am I the only one who thinks this channel should post full episodes? This is the OFFICIAL Doctor Who channel. They can't get copyright strikes from themselves.
When an episode of Doctor Who makes you cry, you know it was fantastically brilliant.
Just watched it here in the US and loved it. I think Pearl Mackie was fantastic in this episode. Good Job, keep up the great work.
I have never commented on a Doctor Who video, but that was phenomenal. I am in utter shock, Capaldi, Bill and Nardole have the best chemistry and it was full of shocks and I love it!
I can tell this series is going to be the gift that keeps on giving
I'll admit that The Pilot may have made me cry... Just maybe. I've been waiting for this so long, and it's so truly amazing to start yet another new adventure in the TARDIS. Here's to many more!
Excellent! Good to have the Doctor back. It has been too long. Pearl Mackie is great!
absolutely loved the episode. one of the best opening episodes ever, in my opinion. Bill surpassed my wildest expectations. She's just the right mix of inquisitive and funny and asks all the right questions but in ways we haven't seen before. Can't wait to see more of her!

Well done Mr Moffat another brilliant episode keep up the good work and good luck on your future endeavours
There was proper jump scares lol, it got me really well and was off guard! Great episode and I want more! It's the beginning of the end!
John Simms and Michelle Gomez together?! This is going to be a good episode
ryanbelcher25rb Correction....... It's going to be a GREAT episode!!!
IT WAS SO GOOD THERE WAS ALSO A CLARA REFERENCE!!!
DaDC709 where
Clara's theme was played while Bill as trying to explain to the Doctor who it feels like to have your memory wiped.
Cowmoo83 yeah maybe Clara and game of thrones person will come back???
Hopefully they don't
DaDC709 Yeah, i cried at this moment. ;-;
I FREAKING LOVED THE EPISODE
All I've taken from this so far is I want a TARDIS console lava lamp!!
I loved the video of them making impressions of the Day of the Doctor scene! Their voices were practically spot on!
aaw my gosh Pearl is so awesome, I can't wait to see where her character is going! and Steven is just so adorable, I worship that man! this season will be the fandom's big regenaration
This episode feels less like a single story and more like a chapter which is great
"One day I'll learn how to do this show" - Steven Moffat 2017.
As for the episode, I loved it! Can't wait for the rest of the series and for Capaldi to go out with a bang!
Title is missing the exclamation mark
Yep!
That episode was utter class, loved it, well done team xx
I enjoyed this episode and it looks like a sign of good things to come. It serves as a excellent introduction into to Doctor who but it also had references which long term fans would understand.

WHERE DO YOU FIND THAT CAPALDI SEQUENCE AT 16:33??! Incredible.
The link that pops up in the corner leads to the video, I think.
I love the expression on bill's face as she realises what she seen in the consul room
My heart could't bear the awesomeness of that new episode... I LOVED IT
The episode was awesome!
Honestly, brilliant. Well done all, especially Pearl, for making me instantly care about Bill. Well done Steven, for an excellent episode. Thought you were going Waters of Mars for a bit. Really looking forward to seeing the traces of my childhood's Doctors, and running with you all this season.

This is going to be the best week ever! I get to re-watch "the pilot" at least once a day until Saturday
I love Bill, she's definitely what the show needed! Loved the episode!
who else litruly shouted at the TV when Bill wanted to join her crush. I was like, "noooo!!!!! don't do it. BILL IMMA WARNING YOU NOW!!!!!" Such an amazing episode by the way. I've fallen In love with nardole and his one liners!!

Chibi Who NO
Origin of the Nardole hair lore.
Thought this was a great new introduction style for a wonderful character! I loved Bill a lot more then I expected!
Yes Dr Who is back! Loved the episode! And really enjoyed this extra bit.
Time Lord eyebrows are not hair.
Best piece of canon ever
I liked how there were photos of River and Susan on the Doctor's desk.
That episode was amazing, jumped about 3 times with the jump scares 😂
Super excited!!
Loving the new show format, and the tardis blue shirt...nice touch
The Pilot was so cool. Really felt like a soft reboot of the series. Bill was delightful and touching at times. Nardole is fun comic relief. Was scary at times, and Daleks! Peter is amazing as always, overall one of the best series premieres to date. Well done, and sets up a very exciting season.
I love Bill's reaction as she turns to see the consul room
Great episode, the story and new characters were great and Capladi as the Dr! Awesome as always
to quote a previous incarnation "FANTASTIC !!"
this was such a good episode loved it so much can't wait till the next
I loved the episode!! It was funny, scary, emotional, intelligent and more! This showed me how much I'll miss Peter Capaldi. Incredible first episode, Love ya Bill (Pearl Mackie)
I absolutely love Bill, best companion since Donna!!!
Pearl Mackie blew my mind!!
Just from The Pilot you can tell that Series 10 is going to be SO EPIC!!!!!
Just finished watching the episode, I really enjoyed it!
There were some stupid things in the plot, but still liked it.
Can't wait for ep 2 next week!

Benovix The Epic Gamer why didn't I think of that!? XD

I really enjoyed Bill's introduction to the TARDIS, both humorous and magical, and really stood out from the crowd.
Is the alien in the first epsiode a brother of the flood from waters of mars?
i thought the same
Omg I never noticed it might be connected to the flood
Time Lordian01
I thought it would involve the Ice Warriors because they were involved with the flood but I think they might continue that with the Ice Warriors episode
I think it was implied that it was some sort of sentient liquid shape shifter,a bit like the founders in DS9 I suppose.
No, it's spaceship fuel
Steven Moffat's voice is so reminiscent of Gordon Jackson's. Oh, and have loved the first and second episodes.
Oh wow... I.. Am speechless after watching The Pilot. Pearl Mackie is such a great actress!! The Doctor was amazing in this episode and so was nardole!! And OH MY GOD JOHN SIMM IN THE NEXT TIME TRAILERRRR!!!
I need that lava lamp and that poster of Bill and the doctor in the TARDIS, they're so cool
You stole my whiteboard !!!!
Loved the new show from South Dakota, USA!
I have to say I 💘 pearl mackie as Bill right from the start
Loved it. Great pilot. loved Bill. Really exited about this series
Pearl was brilliant as indeed were Peter and Matt. A great start to the series.
I loved when bill said its bigger on the inside and how the Doctor and Nardole reacted
`Pearl Mackie is such a great actress, Bill is probably my favourite Moffat companion
what an amazing introduction to bill
yep you right moffat. the conversations are much more interestinger than the explosions.
I think this episode was fantastic! And you know what? So will this season!
Fantastic start to series 10...Well done all involved and roll on next week! :)
Awesome episode the sad ones are always good (lump in the throat) Awwrrr😢 the doctor went back in time to get Bill some photographs of her mum because she couldn't remember her and didn't have any (that's why bill saw him in the mirror, taking the photo of her mum)

That lava lamp TARDIS console though! We wants it!!
I love Steven Moffat, "All the weird obsessive - of which I am one - can sleep at night now we've fit that scene in!"
What a great episode!! My mum could not screaming her head off it was hilarious!!!!!
The monster was basically a mix of The Flood and The Midnight Monster. Still a great episode!
Running away from a puddle is one way to put it.
This is like the best episode especially the coming soon trailer
Favorite line: It's like a kitchen. Favorite memory: Pictures of River Song and Susan Foreman on his desk.
