There is a 6x6 Apache in real life, a custom build by some canadians, on a M135 military truck chassis. It's yellow and has special bumpers, but it's close.
As mentioned in some of your comments, the Apache 6x6 was a custom built rig. However, it was made famous by the game "Snow Runner" where the Apache 6x6 is a playable vehicle in the game.
Yup love mirror details. if they are missing is like a face without ears, or a gun slinger without gun hoisters. 😆 The honcho will look great with them👍
Looooove those Boom Racing gun metal 16-hole stamped steelies. I have a set of those myself. I also have the fancier looking diff knob center cup upgrades to go along.
There's instant reverse on the remote. The 4 little switches control the drag brake. The instant reverse and more depending when are up and which are down . The manual will tell you which combination warrants what mode. Cheers
I saw a rough CUCV yesterday while I was out driving and tried to chase it down to take pictures for you but he got away. I'll keep looking for that elusive unicorn. Great work Matt and I hope you have a great weekend!
Another great episode. My ‘82 GMC that I drove when I was 16 had a bench seat. I modified my blazer interior and laid styrene over the bucket seats and gave it a bench seat. It did turn out a little narrow so printing one may be better.
If I remember right the American CuCV Pick ups had bench seats, and the Jimmies had captains chairs, Not sure if Canadian CuCVS are the same, but seeing as the limited space in cabs vs wagons id say they more then likely had bench seats aswell.
Probably mentioned by now, the Apache is a homage to the Spintires model, which in turn was roughly based on the yellow custom one running on a duece n a half chassis. Iirc the real one was built by some of your countrymen.
I need to start wearing a drool catcher every time you bring out the Chevy pick up, what a beautiful looking truck and it looks so close to the real thing its insane. Your Chevy and " pardon my newb"s " Dodge pick up are the two best looking RC trucks out there, period. Thanks for showing the CC Hand interior I didn't know this existed and now I may get one for my Bronco. I agree about the 4X4 Apache, that would look much better than the 6X6 since they did such a nice job with the cab. Another great video Matt thanks for all the info, have a good one..Mike.
Good video man. The apache 6x6 is cool. When the game snow runner first came out they had one in the game and it was the best scout vehicle in the game at the time. I enjoyed the game so I may get one just because of me playing with one in the game.
My truck did the same thing with the suspension link I had to make a new hole besides that great truck trying to find out how to put a brushed winch on it with the spare channel
all square body trucks were bench seat civ or milspec. most civ seats were a cloth of some form but the cucvs were clean the interior with a garden hose vinyl as well they had rubber door to door floor covering. blazers and subs and possibly 3+3s obviously excluded. also there were a few dealer addon companies that would offer a bucket center console setup for the civ trucks but gm never did, unless theres some weirdo hippy unicorn special edition that ive never heard of
An idea for you and your TRX Bronco for you, something i did for my wifes Bronco. She wanted interior roof lights so I added traxxas part number #8026X and just used double sided tape to hold them in place. Lights up the interior nicely and looks fairly realistic.
Good stuff. And the traxx ass segments give me time to get a cup of coffee and mess with the cat. The 6X6 was featured in a video game. Can't remember the name. I'm wondering if that's where FMS got the idea.
With the FMS apache, I don't think the steering wheel is actually oversized. Those old trucks have massive steering wheels since they didn't have power steering.
The cucv trucks were bench seats like all of the k30 trucks, but I’m really digging that truck though. I’m on the fence about that Apache as a 6x6 to be completely honest, I like the fms rc’s I’ve got the k10 Chevy. They’re fun for playing around the yard or a smaller scale course, but I’m going to get the trx4m really digging that one.
I love that you're doing a Canadian CUCV. Made me wonder if you're Canadian, if you've said it before I just discovered your awesome channel a few weeks ago and just started getting into RC Keep up the awesome work
@@scalebuildersguild I did not know that you were Canadian! Explains the truck. I had commented on one of your other videos about the headlights, I had no idea these existed. I love that they DO exist, because when I was a kid I had a 73 K10 pickup, and I just did a Google image search and the round-eye CUCV looks awesome!
The FMS Atlas 6x6 appears to be the same chassis but it is definitely the same as the ROC 6x6 Cheyenne. The FMS Atlas has plastic gears that break super easy but the Apache and Cheyenne have metal gears. I am hoping to swap axles overs on my Atlas to these axles instead of the SCX24 axle swap.
Wow! That CUCV project is amazeballz! 😀👌Aaand it will probably be the tipping point for me buying a 3D printer at last! So what printer would you recommend if you had to choose just ONE technology? I’m leaning towards resin but I haven’t decided.
The Apache 6x6 is a nod to the Spintire game. I'm a much bigger fan of the side step bed but I gotta admit, the 6x6 looks pretty nice! Yes, this is FMS's 3rd 6x6. First one was the Power Wagon, 2nd was the Cheyenne. Appreciate your content as always!
I was told by an older gentleman a few years ago that the small blocks in the square body's from Canada were painted gm blue us was orange how true this is I'm not sure but it's a detail to look into not sure if it applies to the canadian cucvs most of ours are 80's models with 6.2l Detroit diesels
Great episode man. The cuvc is really coming along. Great work on the small details. The fms is cool to. Odd... but the body is nice. Cool to see proper interiors for the trx. Well proper ish haha. The scx6 honcho is awesome, and great tire choice. So when is the scx6 x6 coming hahahaha
Love that apache. Are you going to build the apache like the apache from snowrunner? Cucv are k30s. Most had bench seats I don’t know much about the Canadian trucks, but some American trucks had extra lights, and a small amount of them where modified to have skid plates.
I can't imagine there would be much difference between the trucks built for the US military and the Canadian military. Other than the gauges being US and metric and maybe the voltage, I don't know if the Canadian military runs everything on 24 volts like US military do or if they run 12 volt. The smaller details might depend more on which department the truck was built for than the country. Like air force or army; the air force units might be closer to a civilian truck, but they are all pretty much the most stripped-down basic model with a bench seat Chevy made. So, for most of the small stuff you could probably copy a US truck. The serial numbers and unit markings might be what you need to find to really make it a Canadian truck. Honestly the CUCV is one of the more interesting builds, because at least here in the states military surplus vehicles are hugely popular. You can snag even the bigger trucks for under $15k, the Humvees are kinda pricey for being grossly underpowered uncomfortable boxes. The biggest automotive let down I have ever experienced. The only thing I found in a quick search is you Canadians are getting screwed on the price of even beat up used surplus equipment, $25,000 CAN for a 1967 2 1/2 ton truck is just ridiculous.
Maybe you could help understand why there isn't a 4speed crawler on the market. 2speed transmission with a divorce 2speed transfer case would be more scale and more fun!
My k10 came with two gas tanks and zero gas caps hehehe. The steering wheel in the apache may not be oversized, they used bigger steering wheels before power steering. i dont usually comment on youtube, but i have to in this case.... im actually asking a favor from you, that will improve your scale accuracy, because no one really seams to catch on or pay much attention to it... the rain guards, around the top of the two doors, they DO NOT completely surround the top of the doors... they run from just above the window line at the back of the door, above the door handle, up and over the top of the door, BARELY curving over the top front curve of the door, and stop right before the windshield.... please PLEASE fix yours to match the 1;1... many may not even notice it, but its an eyesore to those of us who have perfection/ attention to detail in an extremely high level.... build is beautiful so far!!!!!

I use bass guitar strings for those little bars in between the mirrors and the mount. They look relatively accurate and the best part is they bend.
Actually that is a cool idea, I'll have to keep that in mind.
Cool! That's a great tip! Thanks for watching!

The 6x6 is a comical novelty you wouldn’t typically look for… as your 6x6 Cherokee sobs quietly in the background 😂
The cucv has a 3-color camo that is green, brown and black. And the interiors where normally a brown leather bench seat.
