You guys are clueless about Austin! Seems like you're just driving away from the known spots to hang at. Like Rainy st. Or even drive to the Domain on the north west side!!!
It's actually comical listening to y'all talk about Austin because it's obvious y'all don't know what you're talking about. Simply because you drove thru Austin on I-35 does not mean that you "seen" Austin. There's alot more to Austin than I-35 and US HWY 183. On the Westside of Austin is the Eastern edge of the Texas Hill Country, the hilliest part of the South outside of Appalachia. There's some beautiful breathtaking scenery out there, along with the Texas Highland Lakes that stretches about 70 miles from Downtown Austin to near Spicewood, Texas. Lady Bird Lake in Downtown Austin, Lake Austin, Lake Travis all within Travis County. Then there's all the live music and bars on 6th, Street, The Warehouse District and Rainey Street. Austin is one of the best party cities in the country. It ranks right up there with Miami, Las Vegas, New York City, L.A. and San Francisco. There's also plenty of good food to be found in Austin as it is considered a "foodie" city. You folks really did yourself a dis-service by not checking out Austin more than what you did.

we travel all over USA.. we i see a place thats this bland i know to get BK and head to the next town. San Antonio on the other hand was dope. lots of culture and awesome clean safe suburbs
Austin traffic can get bad especially on IH35 because there aren't alternative highways compared to other cities. Austin a cutie of it's size doesn't have a loop.
Tx is bland but people finds the fun. Mostly at rivers and waterparks. If you don't live in tx then you won't really know. Austin has lost it though. It's been trashed for awhile now. It's sad. I remember I loved Austin is hs (2006) and it was waaaay cleaner back in those days.

You sat through one cycle of that light, that’s not traffic. Try I-95 between Fredericksburg VA and Washington DC or try I-4 in Orlando FL. An hours drive can take 2 hours.
