I live in Huntersville. I have lived in the Charlotte area for 42 years. The area has changed enormously in that time. The traffic compared to big cities doesn’t even come close. Love the Carolinas. If you are moving here please leave the politics, which may have ruined where you are currently living, at your current state. Vote low taxes and less intrusive government
Good luck. Democrats are like locusts - they destroy one area then move on to the next.
Stay where you are! Don't come to N.C. plz
There are a ton of people moving to the greater Charlotte area!
Yea causing massive traffic problems. Driving price of real estate through the roof. Bringing the same ideas and behaviors that turned the last place they lived to crap. No thanks. Stay where you are.
I glad someone else feels this way! I left NY for a reason!!
Yes agree
Charlotte is full. The moose is closed. The sooner we shut the border the better.
@@raydavis4446 I didn’t move here from a bad area. I came from a great place and assumed it would be the same way here. Beliefs and comments like yours make people feel very unwelcome.
Please stop pushing the Carolinas…..we are closed…..
Amen!
Yes..I agree!!
😂😂😂😂
Tell it brother
SAy it louder
I live in Matthews. It’s a sweet little town, albeit it’s mostly bars and restaurants, which is actually quite nice. We walk or ride our bikes to town and we just love that. We enjoy friday nights at Seaboard for pizza and a beer. Saturday at O’Malleys for fish and chips.
Matthews is an awesome town. Exchange pizza is our favorite pizza too :)
I Really enjoyed living in Matthew school system is awesome it’s a small town with amazing people. I only say small town because I’m from Chicago
haha, that is changing quickly. So much growth in the Charlotte area.
I would rather stop promoting Matthews! It’s getting too crowded and too expensive. 😆
@@oneunitedgirl I don't really see mathews as it's own city or town anymore. Charlotte seems to me, to have eaten it up and consumed it. Erased all characteristics it had a few decades ago.
347,000 dollars for a home is not affordable for most people. Especially for first time home buyers. Not only that, there are high rise apartments going up like mushrooms creating corridors where where there once were homes. And, not to mention the fact that we are now in the throes of corporate entities outbidding people who just want a home. Plus you underestimate commute times. So, if you are making in excess of 120,000 it is just possible you could find a place, other than that, from Rock Hill through Monroe up into and around Charlotte prices are great for high wage earners. This goes for waterfront property as well. But I suppose you are not speaking to the average person of modest means who is looking for a home. Charlotte is a nice place overall, and so is Matthews as you said. Watch out for the 485 widening, the occasional accident that shuts the freeway down, and the trash along the highway by careless people.
Investment companies plan to own 30% of the housing market.
They are promoting the moth that young people do not want to own their own homes.
Would HOA passed an amendment that makes an investor own a home for a year before renting.
This has deterred many investment companies .
So true. When we moved here, country side was green with trees, now
Trash and cars everywhere. Rent is high property taxes are rising as well. This guy must be rich or in real estate. Crime is also on the rise.
Kinda funny story about the Matthews area. When people in Matthews see someone in a car throw trash out of their car they honk their horns at them. 🤣 And no, I didn't throw trash out but I've heard the honking when trash was thrown out.
Lived here for 30 years- traffic has been brutal for 30 years- wherever you live! Go for areas off main corridors of city, find home close to work, uptown fun, new cluster of apts. $$$$!!!
Looks like home prices are the key in pushing the top places to live. I myself live in Concord and we have everything from low income homes to million dollar homes. Plenty to do here with Charlotte Motor Speedway located in the city along with the Zmax dragstrip and dirt track and Concord Mills Mall which even though it's a mall, is the #1 tourist attraction in the state. We are close enough to Charlotte but far enough away and unlike places like Davidson and Cornelius, we don't need the interstate to get us to Charlotte's uptown area. Plenty of back routes to avoid the traffic during the peak times. This city also has an excellent tax base which is growing even more to help keep our taxes down and services high. There are manufacturing buildings going up at the old Phillip Morris site and across the street, Eli Lilly announced plans to invest $1 billion to build a new manufacturing facility that will create 600 jobs. Plenty of re-development also taking place in the downtown area.
Yah, I assume that is one thing they look at when compiling their top list. Concord has seen a ton of growth in the past few years & you can still get into a home at a reasonable price
I laugh at people who brag about living in a swamp,,,, oh sorry it's called Ballantyne now. We were so in shock when they developed that land, It's so funny people live in Pineville and think they are in Ballantyne.
What are you driving to cornelius in, an airplane? It take 45 mins at least at any time. And to eat out on the weekends i have to go to Mooresville. Apartment rents went up by 30% at least.
Lol, traffic can slow the commute down! however, the toll road does help
There are A LOT of long standing Negative’s about several of these “Top” Area Communities where , per usual , Snobbery has Prevailed! Because , per usual no one in Tega Cay would EVER speak of the decade long issues of Sewer problems due to bad Private Water/ Sewer Company Management ; gee I wonder why ??? And Snobbery? That is why Davidson is ranked # 1 and I’m just so Happy My area was kept a secret as long as it was but unfortunately not anymore. I would recommend doing Your homework with some “former” residents of a area .
Thank you for your honesty! It is such a fallacy to portray life in North Carolina as so fantastic. They are selling it HARD. They have gotten people from large Northern cities moving here in flocks and herds, so the cost of a vile hovel in the ghetto here now costs what people paid for a mansion in a nice area only 5 years ago. Renting a one bedroom apartment is for the wealthy ONLY. STAY AWAY FROM NORTH CAROLINA! There is no work here but with the big banks or the hospitals, both of which will....more than likely....tank very, very soon.
About those rush hour drive times: Did you forget to say that’s using the toll lanes ?
I actually tested it in google maps (with tolls & without tolls).. The times didn't change. You are correct though, traffic can really be difficult some days & that can alter drive times :). The toll roads can really come in handy
I actually used the toll lane for 1 exit..cost $4 and change..never again. This is why it's mostly empty! Charlotte is getting stupid and rediculous!!
I have lived in cornelius for 5 years. To get to charlotte in less than 45 mins, you have to take the bus or the express lane.
When I was was a kid, Marvin was a school and a church, that was it.
When u say get to Charlotte are u meaning uptown? Bc mathews and Weddington is literally on the Charlotte lines. Like if u live in Weddington near 84 and providence, u are literally in Charlotte in less than ten minutes at 485? So when u say get to Charlotte, do u mean q specific point?
Yes! very good point - meaning uptown Charlotte! Parts of Matthews are just minutes from Charlotte
Bought in Fort Mill last year and love it here!
Fort Mill is awesome!!
Great places- Weddington, Waxhaw, Blakeney, plaza midwood- great restaurant/ not much parking/ park at the Harris Teeter.
Dilworth- great resurants- not a lot of public parking. Be careful where you park because they will boot your car fast
All very good areas! & 100% agree. As the city grows, parking becomes harder and harder to find
Please stop coming to our city!! So many bad people are moving here including the traffic. My family is 6 generation strong from Davidson and the fake snobs are exhausting. North Carolinians know wealth and these new comers are just a bummer. We're closed!!!
I don't know why we attract snoody snobs. Please expand on your definition of "bad people"
Brutal truth is that newcomers from big cities have changed Charlotte in a very negative way… It’s sad…
@@reglook1 People who think that because they live South Charlotte they're elite !!
He sugar coats the commute times & what he doesn’t inform you about, specifically the towns south of Charlotte is that the infrastructure can’t support the traffic. There are no immediate plans to alleviate traffic. Local governments allow rampant development, caveat emptor for sure..
Hey! You are right, traffic can be congested at times. I really appreciate your opinion & insight.
Yes, I always question, WHERE'S YOUR TAX REVENUE GOING?? CERTAINLY NOT BACK INTO OUR COMMUNITIES!!
Especially commuting in to Charlotte from Monroe...deadly. And out bound beginning around 2:30 pm through the peak hours of 5-7. Occasionally I drive in from the University City area on 85 around 4pm, and traffic is thick along 85 from 77/277. And if you want to go to Concord Mills on a Saturday afternoon, that is a story in and of itself.
Please do not sleep on Harrisburg, NC which has some great communities being developed as well as shopping and restaurants on the way! I built a home in Harrisburg in 2019 and I have way more square footage for less, my home is 5300+ sq ft for about $515,000. Also very low property taxes compared to Charlotte! Come check us out in Harrisburg NC!
Harrisburg is a wonderful city! I am sure when they update this list, Harrisburg will be on the top 10 list of suburbs.
You're including only the highest priced places. Indian Trail is a fantastic area and is close to Matthews. Start looking up toward Concord, University, Locust…
Hey Shannon! yes, Indian Trail, Concord, University & Locust are all great areas. We were only reviewing Niche.com's list of top suburbs.. We will be shooting more videos highlighting other areas soon!
I lived in Indian trail. It’s ok, but it has no town center.
@@bootburner4544 You're sure? I was dictating, so I'm very sorry for not being perfect.
@@LivinginCharlotteNC-Vlog Thanks Josh. I totally understand and appreciate your kind response.
@@shannonprintz3599 You are welcome :)
I live in Rock Hill. Or as some of the locals call it “Rock Trill”. Or city of football
Oh yes, I know first hand. I went to Clover High School & played football. Rock Hill High, Northwestern & South Pointe High were always some of the best teams in York County
In this video you mentioned you would share link to the "worst" suburbs to Charlotte, but I did not see it.
Hey! strange, it should be in the description in the video.. But, heres the link: ua-cam.com/video/33ZP8Yv08-g/v-deo.html ||. This was the older video - we did just reshoot an updated best suburbs in CLT. And will probably update Worst Charlotte Suburbs in the near future.
Mint hill is awesome. But don’t move there! We want to keep it small
Have you looked lately? Not small anymore. New housing everywhere.
No Gastonia? Great! We’re super happy
With the growth in Gastonia, I am sure it will make the list in 2022 or 2023
@@LivinginCharlotteNC-Vlog I sure hope not!!!
Eww, Gastonia trailer park..yucky
@@Theblackbumblebee that’s what I was thinking.
Gotta agree with @Theblackbumblebee always the image I imagine
Very interesting that you didn’t include communities west of charlotte, Belmont,Mt Holly,Cramerton
Agreed!! We were just reviewing the top rated communities by Niche.com.. Belmont made the list at #14 (A bit low in my opinion).. We just didn't make it down to #14 in this video. I am sure Belmont will be MUCH higher on their list the next time they review the list.. & we will start seeing Cramerton & Mt Holly on the list as well.. I put the link to the list below!
Link: www.niche.com/places-to-live/search/best-suburbs/m/charlotte-metro-area/
Mt. Holly sucks. Don't move here .
Shhh, those are wonderful communities you described, however they are very separate very nice, nice towns.
@@LivinginCharlotteNC-Vlog oh So we are Low!?!!!!!!!!!!! In Belmont. What's low about a quite town with low taxes low traffic Low Crime and helpful neighbors who have been more like family members, they are the Salk of the earth and You are Low!
I live in belmont right off 85 … 7 miles from the airport and ten miles from downtown .
Nice! How do you like living there?
Please do not send anymore people to live in Belmont. STOP Sending people period in North Carolina.. . .it is overcrowded!!
@@missc9813 why is everyone’s first instinct is to say dont move here. So unwelcoming. Anyone relocating wont effect YOU personally. Dont be such a bitch
Concord just made list of top 100 Cities in America. How is it not included???
I know, there are quite a few suburbs that did not make Niche.com's list, that I believe should be on there. I am sure it will be on the next list they publish!
No, Concord is crowded enough. I've lived here for my entire 54 years and it's become too much already with everyone moving here.
Concord has been ruined. It is mostly gang members now.
Concord , Gastonia, Mallard Creek is trailer park anything east or west is pockets of trailer people. Naw!!! South is the only area of Charlotte is completely all nice.
When I lived in Kannapolis/Concord area, people would tell me they tried to NEVER drive into Charlotte if they could help it. At least the freeway is wider, but the drive time is still tiring.
By the way I'm in Indian Land South Carolina right across the border from Charlotte ballantyne waxhaw and such and it's awesome here
Yah, Indian lands location is awesome! How long have you lived there for?
Good video but the music choice and volume almost made me turn it off 😣
Hey! Really appreciate feedback. I will keep this in mind for future videos.
Any info on Kannapolis?🤷🏿♀️👊🏿
We are planning a video on Kannapolis very soon!
My sister lived in Tega Cay for 13 years. I went to visit her for a week. Tega cay is nice but fort mill is soooooooo boring place to live. I’m all about being laid back, quiet place just chilling but that’s a place I would never move. When we hung out there for the day I was thinking. What’s all the hype about fort mill.
it depends on where you go. If you visit Baxter Village, or Kingsley, you will find quote a few great bars and restaurants. But it is more family focused. If you are looking to be in the center of it all you would want to look at South End.
Moved here from d’town Chicago, traffic is nothing in Charlotte. Very vanilla place to live, thought big city would have big city energy… without children and not a beer drinker, wasting space for someone who lives for both of those…moving out in 30 days, not ready yet for my life to slow this far down
You are correct, Charlotte is still smaller than some of its counterparts like Chicago, Atlanta & New York. Where are you planning on moving too?
I’m surprised you didn’t include Waxhaw
Niche.com had it at #12 & we did not have time to go that far down. Waxhaw is a super cool town! We will be shooting videos referencing Waxhaw soon!
@@bootburner4544 I really appreciate the continued critiques!
Me too, but I’m fine with it 😜
The growth on Providence Road is killing what used to be the rural charm of Waxhaw.
@@WFTL14 Waxhaw has grown a lot in recent years. They are keeping the charm alive in downtown Waxhaw
I'd consider a suburb to be that of around Charlotte .. Davidson is not a burb , lake Norman isn't a burb , Matthews isn't a burb niether is Cornelius or Concord .. these are towns and not even close to a suburb ,... Madison park , Myers park , Cotswold , Eastland , etc ... THOSE r suburbs
Stay Tuned! We will be doing neighborhood tours highlighting some of Charlottes best neighborhoods soon!
These are people not from North Carolina, eww, he named area's that's new "looking". I'm like Davidson, Cornelius and Concord. My family from Davidson and Cornelius and its hardly not suburbs. He doesn't know the history
Seriously? Try using a dictionary.

Where is Mint Hill Indian Land Indian Trail Harrisburg Mooresville Denver Belmont Mount Holly Concord Wesley Chapel. how you forget about Waxhaw
Those are all great Suburbs! We focused on the Niche.com List of top Charlotte Suburb.. & worked to fit as many top ones in the video as we could! We will be doing more videos in the future highlighting many of those towns! We just released a deep dive into Belmont, NC yesterday. You should check it out!
I want to move to Waxhaw. It’s still a lot of ‘country’ and 15-30 min from everything in Rock Hill and Charlotte. We’ve been in Rock Hill for 3 years and are almost ready to buy a home. I’ve done a ton of work in Waxhaw (electrician) and love that area.

As a lifelong resident, please be honest about the racial divide. No drama. Just tell the truth.
I have been here 58 years. Charlotte has been welcoming to all races. We were quick to integrate schools. As far as SC and many outlying areas it can be a different experience.
I'm white and have asked several times as to why aren't they including diversity on any of these scales about price and distance and all that. They won't.

Suberbs???
Suburbs! :)
Been 5 years this place blows, from Brooklyn everything closes super early 8pm to 11pm restaurants and bars, and poor lighting on roads and local intersections, fast foot capital of the world, you name its here especially chicken themed. Weather is absolutely unpredictable the humidity in charlotte will suck the life from your soul regardless of pool and whatever you feel will help. The pandemic has caused a influx of new homes and 700 people a day are moving to the Carolinas, which has increased traffic and quality of life, the expansion we are experiencing is meant for 13 years time lapse, not 18 months, real estate values have sky rocketed for no apparent reasons and cost of living is perhaps a fraction more affordable here than ny state. stay where you trust me.
What part of Charlotte do you live in?
It’s supposed to close. It’s the south. Nothing good happens after midnight.
Go back to Brooklyn have fun in nyc. It’s terrible because New York people moved in and didn’t assimilate to southern society.
Been here three years and agree 100%.
You should go home too: please
@@jorgy1470 right , if you don’t like it here move…
North Carolina is the best state. Mountains including the tallest mountain on the east coast and the best beaches in the country. Warm weather, actual seasons , snow that goes away by lunchtime and the absolute best Spring and fall weather anywhere.
If you’re out after 12 midnight you’re up to no good anyway. I kinda like the sidewalks rolling up after 10. I wish everything was still closed on Sunday.
Fort Mill❤️

Charlotte native here.
Charlotte has all the problems of nyc high crime high homelessness high overpriced houses and zero land to go with them.
Used to be a small town and have small town feel and friendly, not anymore.
Stop advertising Charlotte. It’s already ruined by Yankees and democrats. Ruined all the original Charlotte neighborhoods and all of mecklenburg county schools. Overbuilt neighborhoods and track houses.
Have a nice day
Bless your heart.
How racist. I think it is ruined by your attitude. Your heart needs blessing.
@@Kimmi-le6vg why do you assume that I’m talking about different races. It’s definitely not about race. It is about culture and assimilation to the area state or country you move into. It’s expected that when a person moves in they need to change and adjust their attitude and actions to the place they move. Nothing to do with race. We don’t care how you did it where you’re from. Also it’s the reason nyc and big cities now are cesspools of crime, high taxes, homelessness and void of jobs for low and middle income families. Driving those down south to again implement the same terrible policies and politics that ruined their home state.
Charlotte used to be a place you never locked your doors, knew your neighbors helped them and others with life. Now how many murders does Charlotte have a day and how many burglaries. The bad section of town was just that and it kept to itself if you went there it was on purpose. Also most of the new houses and neighborhoods are apartments, townhomes, and track houses that you could spit and hit the next door neighbor’s house or stand between and touch both houses simultaneously.
Look at north Davidson ave. Always was a terrible area and now it’s a bohemian area with high price houses surrounded by high crime. Newell is gone completely, Hickory grove no longer exists and is overrun with crime and rundown houses. It’s truly sad because that’s where I grew up and we were forced out because of the situation and the 6 lane road they put through. University area next door is exactly the same way used to be a place you took family to eat and shop no longer it’s overrun by the college and the bar crowd.
It’s the same problems as our whole country; people care more about feelings, progress ,and coddling others than the truth and the facts of life.
I don’t do that. It’s about direct honesty and being objective. We can fix Charlotte but it going to take hard and fast decisions and getting rid of the progressive mindset and return to the basics of common sense and liberty.
Kim I hope you have a nice day and a great weekend truly. I care a great deal about my city and my part of North Carolina it’s the best state in the country 2nd only to Texas. I want my home place to change back for the better and stop the relentless reckless progress going on now.
Look up history in Charlotte and the Piedmont see what it was from the depression to the 80s. And I hope you see what happened in the 90s to now and the unmitigated problems it brought.
Dallas, I agree! Native here as well, and it's become too much.
As for the "racist" accusation, that seems to be the go-to when someone disagrees with someone. There wasn't anything remotely racist in your comment.
@@dannyjacobs6734 I’m starting to wear the your racist comment as a badge of honor. To me it’s like the news… how dare you tell the truth! The “I don’t like your opinion”Answer.
Another thing is our infrastructure can’t handle much more growth without breaking.
Another Charlotte native here - you are exactly right. Charlotte has become a hell hole - STAY AWAY!
