@@RipperRoo92 Definitely wild times seeing that at 12. Especially seeing as you’re as old as the protagonist was at the time. I also saw it pretty young too. Stuck with me ever since
@leonbrando9892 Facts bro I forgot to mention that I watched FLCL when it aired for the first time in Adult Swim but on the Summer Nights I could still remember the light bugs, stars in the sky, light breeze going through my window hearing the crickets singing. The adolescence days ☺️😌.
That means a whole lot to say it’s the best. I very much appreciate it. And yeah Last Dinosaur is such a hype song. It’s one of those songs where once you hear it, you just start running lol
I have been a big fan of the anime since my brother introduced it to me and it interesting the seasons are named after genres of music progressive, Alternative, Grunge, and shoegaze
Yeah it’s pretty different for something to be named after music like that. Speaking of music I’m waiting on the Vinyl for Grunge/Shoegaze. I have the Vinyl’s for everything else so I’m patiently waiting for that to drop
hope this gets more views! this is a great video and because of it i may revist alternative and shoegaze, but flcl is rlly important to me and i dont hate the sequels but its just off to me side note i believe that khara (the evangelion studio basically) could have owned the flcl IP, but gainax sold the IP to production IG instead (I got all this info from stevems video on hideaki anno feel free to fact check me) id like to think that studio khara would have done a better job but who knows tbh all I want is for kazuya tsurumaki to perhaps maybe something new at khara again great video!!!
I really appreciate the kind words. And yeah after rewatching the sequels like you said. It just felt off. Like something was missing and after doing research on it you could tell why things felt off. I’m glad you enjoyed the vid cause I had a blast making it. And also you get bonus points for having a Hanekawa pfp. (I love the Monogatari Series with every fiber of my being lol)
gotta wonder how much the failure of Grunge's art is due to strict deadlines and low budget from Adult Swim or if the studio just wasn't qualified for the job
Funnily enough as you said that Adult Swim was more than pleased with the reception of both Grunge and Shoegaze because they had really great ratings as they aired. It wasn’t necessarily a thing about budget so much as it was a style change they wanted specifically for Grunge that didn’t land with people. Cause Shoegaze had infinitely better animation
its awesome how FLCL has inspired so many anime and manga nowadays. its artstyle was so unique for it's time and imo still holds up to this day. A anime earlier this year called magical destroyers used a similar vibe for its opening sequence and i thought of FLCL instantly. also 55 min video, that was awesome
I actually watched Magical Destroyers and the OP/ED was one of my favorites this year. And yeah I made this a long one lol. I had so much fun editing this and putting everything together. I was going down memory lane working on this vid and I’m glad you enjoyed it. Means the world to me! ❤️❤️❤️
@@altier1014 I try to add different music in the vids but Ridge Racer has some phenomenal songs that will be sticking around on here. Same for Neon White lol
How disappointed I was when I discovered the FLCL sequels were Asult Swim Original (Toei Dragon Ball GT), it was created by the corporate company against the original creators wishes. The original creator of FLCL said that the series was a one shot and finished the way he wanted by leaving the ending in a cliffhanger and for the thoughts of the viewers to filled.
It’s fascinating too because he didn’t want to make sequels until Adult Swim pushed for it so he just created the ideas. Wanted them to take over and well…not everyone was pleased to say the least lol. It was really interesting looking further into the production of the show. So many things I didn’t know originally
Yeah. I haven't actually watched the sequals because it just seems like a slap in the face to the creator. I remember waiting for MONTHS to get to borrow the series from my library around 2005ish. This and Evangelion absolutely defined my teen years (along with gundam wing and sailor moon)
Original FLCL was bottled Lightning. They struck absolute gold with that first season and they never were able to replicate it. I rewatch it all the time. Brittle Bullet is one of my favorite episodes of Television as a whole lol
Straight up this was a good video about all of the seasons to flcl itself And as someone that never watched flcl as a kid but seen the original series later on when they was currently 17 at the time back in the 11th grade i got to say it was a good series but later seasons not so much alternative i really like when it came out at the time Shoegaze was good but it could have been longer instead but all in all i think that the later seasons of flcl was a big letdown to a lot of people because it didn't try anything new not being different enough but all in all i ultimately think that a lot of fan's for the original series that had way to many high expectations overall
I really appreciate the comment. FLCL OG was such an impactful show for a lot of people for just being so different that when those other seasons came out it just felt like just another anime. And the seasons wanted to be ambitious but they just weren’t fully realized. Shoegaze 1000% needed more episodes because it could’ve been a lot better with more. And yeah it’s safe to say the fans expected something as good if not better than the OG. The bar was just set way too high off the bat
@@nickwatts5269 Glad you stumbled on this video though. It’s one I’m very very proud of and I had a lot of fun making it. Just going through the history of the entire series and putting some Toonami history in there was a blast too
How'd you all stumble onto FLCL?
i woke up one night staying in a hotel after seeing some pink haired girl on adult swim, then a couple years later i found out it was called FLCL
@@spicy1615 That’s pretty funny. I feel like the majority of people that got into it was through Adult Swim
Adult Swim, Late Nights in the early 2000s
What a moment and what a time to be alive a 12-year-old in the twilight of my teenage years.
