I own this lens and totally enjoy it. It may be a bit slower for a fast situation but it is bearable. The sharpness is a class on its own. Glad someone feels the same.
We have the lens and there is no focusing problem. There is only one UA-camr who claimed the lens has focusing problem but she's wrong as that is an issue with the A7IV and not the Samyang 50mm f1.4 MkII. Glad I am not the only one who loves this lens :)
@@pierrelouisvisuals personaly when I searched online to buy it, the videos that appeared from different UA-camrs criticized the AF, so I asked on a Facebook group regarding the AF, and having Samyang 45mm and 24mm I said to myself that the AF can't be that bad... And it wasn't at all...
There's no firmware update. She's too quick for the lens. Also, she used to GM glass... Tudor is right though, the lens doesn't miss focus. But, it takes forever to focus sometimes - deal breaker for wedding photography.
@@thegeorgewinters too quick? I can’t imagine portrait sessions being that fast paced. Plus there are some GM lenses that have subpar AF performance. A lot of the critiques of this lens sounded like rehashed statements from the first gen model. The only reason why I’m skeptical is because they completely rehoused the 50 into a smaller body which should improve focus speed considering the elements don’t have to travel as far. I used the first gen copy and my main issues were the motor noise and the sluggish focus in low light.
That girl didn't even hold the camera in a stable position. Her arms were wide open when every beginner knows it's a principle to keep the camera body stable close to your body. The environment, wind, and her own fatigue could affect the sharpness.
Tudor, I have just purchased this lens and I was planning to return it to WEX, unopened, having seen the appalling review by a portrait photographer. She said essentially that the AF was unusable! Do you still feel that the AF is acceptable? I wanted the Samyang 50mm f1.4 because of its small size, light weight and f1.4 aperture. I’m nervous about keeping the lens and would appreciate you comments. Alun
The af with Sony a7iii, will be ok? I am confused, Between the samyang 50 1.4 FE ii and the sony 55 1.8 fe, which of the 2 has a better focus system? Can you help me because I want to buy one of the 2. What would you suggest. ?

You're referring to Julia Trotti?
@@pierrelouisvisuals is there anyone else who had problem with the AF of this lens? :)

I bought it for video but the focusing is way too slow. Sending it back unfortunately- such a shame
So people aren’t buying this because Julia Trotti probably reviewed a bad copy or didn’t update firmware? 🧐
Probably... I'm using from that moment and no problems on Sony A7RIII who is not the fastest Sony camera in town :)

I’ve been using this lens with A73 and A7R3. No issues. I think Julia Trotti got a bad copy.

The AF it's killing it! I shot small kids running like mad at a party with Sony A7R3 - no problems at all!

@@checkwestgreece1871have you used Samyang 50mm f1.4 II? How is the autofocus?
Can this lens be used on canon m50 Mark ii with adapter?
It's possible if there is such an adapter, personally I would buy a dedicated lens for the canon mount.
I guess you've used electronic front curtain shutter while using large aperture and fast shutter speeds. It makes the bokeh look ugly.
Okay buying now hahahhaa. Is it better than the zeis 55 1.8?
For me yes, I prefer the 50mm field of view and the f1.4. But 55 f1.8 it's also a good choice... But f1.4 it's a magical aperture ;)
Great contents and review!
Thank you 🙏
Tudor, in aps-c you get 50x1.5=75 and 1.4x1.5=2.1. Just the brigtness stays at 1.4.
No its full frame
Saw your video and ordered this lens… i hope my copy of the lens is as good as yours…
Cool, let me know how it will work for you 🙏
@renskapoor how does it go for you? The lens have any issue?
