Perfect coloratura, high notes like a laser beam, beautiful phrasing, distinctive and unique voice. Florez is unsurpassable in this repertoire.

Words don't do justice, Flórez is my all-time favourite tenor. I can't describe what I feel when I hear him sing this, also the musicality and the amoroso section and the beautiful legato right in the midst of all these coloraturas that sound clear and like sparkling champagne. This is superb. Best rendition of this aria.
JDF is perfection, but amongst the perfection is the divine middle, lyrical section, that sets him apart from all other Almavivas!
JDF does justice to a difficult bel canto aria often left out in other productions.
People know all about the Figaro intro but this is vocal virtuosity on a rarely paralleled scale in opera history

One of golden JDF's arias in his golden yesrs! Such a pleasure to hear it again and again!
I heard this production on the radio in March of 2007. Actually all I heard was this aria. I left home to run a quick errand. I quickly realized that I needed to pull my car over or I was going to run off the road! It was just stunning. The next morning at church choir, our director, a voice professor at the U. of S.C., asked me if i had heard it. It turned out that he and his wife were driving back to town on the Interstate and he had to pull over to listen to the end of the opera.

What an amazing vocal feat! And this great tenor makes it look effortless. Few are willing or able to take on the challenge and so it is simply left out - but it's the crowning glory of this wonderful production, which was performed as Rossini meant it to be.

God had JDF in mind when he created Rossini. I can't say how many times I have listened to this and it still blows me away. I also love his version from the Royal Opera House (also with Joyce DD). Best Almaviva ever. But this entire production from the Met is among my favourites as well, the whole cast performed amazing and the staging was perfect, too.

Folks, listen also to Francisco Araiza in this repertoire. They are both top notch. Araiza in Cinderella with an outstanding Frederica von Stade remains the best all round version of this opera to my mind. Enjoy.
