RIP to Scott Bloomquist 🙏🏻
Sounds like the pressure switch might be not working right
@charliewhite3992 yeah, that's what I was thinking to
The Dirt Track Dominator, Black Sunshine will be missed but always remembered. Rest in peace Scott Bloomquist.
Replace the capacitors in the motor and install a soft start system
this
Yep soft start is the way to go 💪🏻
Winfield, TN here When Late Model racing is your passion whether your a driver or fan etc... The News of the passing of Scott Bloomquist Hits deep. RIP and sending Love and Good vibes to everyone. God bless HTF helping everyone being able to watch races and these videos. They have grown the SLM racing world tremendously and I thank you for that. #157Nation #HTF10
Check the MFD of the start and run capacitors on the old compressor and the bleed off switch when the unit reaches full pressure and shuts off.
Also, drain the tank weekly and change the oil annually. Still need tor drain the new one's tank, but no oil in it.
Unloader valve for startup is not working
Rip The Goat Scott Bloomquist. God speed brother
If my ears heard it right, the motor needs new capacitors.there should not be a delay with humming. O, I'm a retired Mobil Engineer...
Sad to hear about Bloomquist.
Rest in Peace to the Best there ever was or will be !!! There will never be another one like you Scott Bloomquist!!!! We will ALWAYS love you !!!!!❤
Check to make sure that the Bleeder valve is working so the pressure that's inside the head when you shut it off is let loose or maybe try letting it build up all the way and once it shuts off or pops off the correct pressure that you have. It said at it should not have any restrictions against it, so it starts easier next time.
Check the relief valve on the compressor that relieves pressure on restart on start up.
Rest in Peace Scott Bloomquist
We used to have a stacker, it was a double car job with a 4post lift. Put one car in the top on the lift and a 2nd car underneath. Works great for loading and unloading and you have a lift that you can work under if you have to. It was more trailer than we needed but something like that would work great for you guys. Love the videos and the Jesus Lives decals. Don't ever leave him out. He's blessed you guys beyond measure
That Sanborn is a good compressor. Take it to an electrical shop to check out the motor and starting components. If that all checks out, then you may have wiring or bad connections on the trailer. Be a good idea to have the tooter generator output volts/amps and sine wave looked at on an oscilloscope by the electrical shop.
Just think of the "story line" if Joseph would've "had problems" that last time he outran Scott Bloomquist for the win in that HtF race?
The HtF Series would be in the record books for all time as the series Scott Bloomquist won his last race but Bloomer finished 2nd and Joseph got a win in his own series
10:21 If the compressor has a capacitor then that's probably your issue. It stores energy so it can use it when starting rather than pulling a large draw on your power source IE your generator to start which would explain why your breaker would be tripping
I agree, most motors have a start capacitor for energy efficiency. That’s why it starts with no air.
I just saw when they pulled compressor, it has both start and run capacitors
Nitrogen is the only gas that should be in racing tires to maintain stable tire pressure as temperatures change. Atmospheric air with any amount of moisture will build pressure as tire temperature increases.
Check your pressures after a race to see how much pressure builds up, thereby changing the spring rate of the tire / suspension combination. Hide the bottle it you need to, and plumb it into your compressor (like everyone else). 😉
Why wouldn't they be running nitrogen? Is it legal in dirt racing?
@@jasonramsey1511 I don't have the 2024 late model rule books from the various sanctioning bodies , however most rules are created to maintain safety, and in some cases limit operating costs. Nitrogen is completely non-flammable & the atmosphere is nearly 80% Nitrogen so its inherently (non-toxic) to humans. Why a sanctioning body would ban it is puzzling, even on a cost basis since an "at the track" compressor (cost) is not needed, or the generator required to run the compressor. It's also one of the cheapest compressed gases you can buy.
The big attraction of Nitrogen from a regulated bottle is zero humidity, and you can fill tires etc. When no compressor or compressor power is available. It's been used safely for decades in all forms of auto racing.
@@jasonramsey1511 Just to be clear, all gasses expand when heated, but moist atmospheric air will expand much more.
Humidity is a function of heat. That's why you hear about relative Humidity- that's the amount of water that atmospheric air can hold is related to temperature of the air. In the arctic at -40 degrees the amount of water the air can hold is basically zero, but in Florida the water content can be very high - watch the amount of water drained from the HTF compressor.
There are ways to remove water from compressed air, but why bother if you're just taking advantage of all the features of compressed Nitrogen. By the way, Nitrogen is the tire filling gas of choice in Nascar.
By the way, using Nitrogen to fill tires on Dirt track cars that restrict the use of expensive bead-lock wheels is even more important.
With Bead locks you can leave the pits at lower than optimal tire pressure without fear of knocking a tire off the bead, but that's a huge problem in more entry level racing classes where only air pressure keeps the bead firmly seated. In these classes your running a big risk if you start the race on low pressure trying to end up at the optimum pressure when the tires get hot!
These classes typically use narrow street tires that are already traction deficient. Ending up with rock hard tires due to high pressure once the tire & wheel gets hot (brake heat) is a way bigger problem.
Bad handling isn't just something that's going to prevent a driver / car from being competitive, but more importantly bad handling is the leading cause of expensive crash damage- something amateur racers need to avoid if they're going to be able to get their racing fix once ot twice per week.
I'd recommend all weekend warriors skip the compressor/ generator route and just get some compressed Nitrogen.
You can run your air tools - very handy at the track, although battery powered tools are pretty common tool alternatives for those that already have them.
@user-vt8dj2wj1l I dont have any real dirt experience. I have worked on asphalt cars most of my life and we have used nitrogen for as long as I can remember. When we still used air guns they ran on the same nitrogen. Now its just battery guns.
Starting capacitor.
Drain that compressor every day before you use it! It collects quite a bit of water just in one day! Good luck at Senoia this weekend Fellaz! Rest easy Scott Bloomquist!
Should run a hose/valve down to easy place to use.
RIP Scott
Possibly the capacitor is bad on the motor on the compressor
It’s the flux capacitor
Water in tires raises humidity which will cause inconsistent tires and wear air tools out faster. Install an automatic drain on it will solve that situation. You should service it change oil and filter twice a year.
New compressor has no oil. But correct about old one. I'd go to junk yard and scrounge some hood shocks for that door.
RIP Bloomer. Black Sunshine will be Missed.
When the compressor gets to pressure and shuts off, you should hear air bleed out of the line from the pump to the tank. This alowes the compressor to start without back pressure on the pump. The tank has a check valve in the tank. The bleeder line should be on the pressure switch.
9500 predator inverter generator super quiet and really reliable for rvs and stuff like y’all are doing you won’t be disappointed!
Oh my goodness didn't know that...I raced with him at muskingum county speedway, donny Moran was my mentor 😢 so long my friend rest in peace 😂
My compressor done the same thing. Found out it was the belt. New belt and adjusted it works great again.
you can also plum an auto drain to the tank and set the timer to your desired setting.
Hope you all have a safe trip and have a great race
Replace the capacitors on the compressor and y'all will be good
Prolly need some blinker fluid and adjust the Johnson rod that goes to the exhilarator carburetor and oil sending filter !!!!!
Sounds like the relief valve is bad so it gets back pressure on the pump and it can't start
Jesse slickkkkk with that catch
2:27
Maintenance boys, maintenance on everything. Slackers 😂
Sad times for Scott bloomquist family my heart goes out to them ❤️🙏🙏🌹
Miss Lydia!!!! You struck again, Jason the love of that little thought's life works the infield safety crew and she runs around in the pits doing graffiti,She used a paint marker on our hauler, And if you ever meet her its a wonder she can even put shoes on one eye looking up on looking down, she would make a great spokes person for birth control,
I remember in the beggining everything was HAND WASHED. It was a big day when they got their first presser washer!
Mount a cooler (you can use an oil cooler as long as it's rated for 150psi or so) between the compressor and tank, it will greatly decrease the water in tank. Get some automatic air bleeds to drain the water and add a line to drain the water down under the trailer. These cheap compressor tanks will rust quickly if not drained often.
Rip The Goat Scott Bloomquist 🙏
You guy's got me using Proline Products, we live down here in Georgia in the winter from Michigan, we will be selling our home in Mi. moving down here permanently but anyway I've been washing people's moterhomes with Proline Products and everyone loves the results,I believe I have a new business here now, I'll be making some extra cash , which with my wife and I on a fixed incomes this is a good thing.😊Thank You for turning me on to Proline 😉🇺🇲
There is a shrader valve on the switch evacuates the pressure out of the pump so the pump doesn't start loaded.
Good ol' Hobo Freight...saving the day..ballin on a budget
Put a new capacitor on the compressor, a lot of times failed capacitors cause the electric motor to start to fail as well. Put new motor that will have new capacitor on it and should fix it. But it looks like it needs work elsewhere on the current compressor,JMHO. But nitrogen is the gas for race tires. B
Put a hard start kit on the compressor. It gives it a hold of extra powers when it starts.
Really like your shop videos even if its outside. Glad you got that taken care of. So lets go get that checker flag Saturday night at Senoia. Go HTF!!!!!!!!!
I am kind of surprised at the cost of a toater trailer and all that the maker didn't ponder installing a drain line off the petcock out the bottom of the pan. At least somewhere convenient instead of running down the face of the trailer leaving unsightly marks down the front of your trailer. Glad to see you had air for this weekend though.
Possibly a check valve on compressor pressure line. Enables compressor start without a load!
I would agree with many others and suggest you look into changing capacitors.. .. Good Luck 🤗
Most of those oilless compressors have a junk regulator. I'd buy a regulator to replace it. You'll have to do some fabricating. They tend to stick and the compressor burns up. Also need to regularly check the air filter especially considering how it gets used. Maybe add some furnace filters to the box inlet? And you guys need to buy & learn how to use an amp clamp.
Would most definitely check the capacitor on the compressor.
I have seen a LM roll off the back of a lift gate years ago at Florence speed way, i was parked next to them
You need to add an external air tank for extra volume to take care of the 20 gallon you removed. I would plum in a 10 gallon portable air tank in the system.
Can we get a moment of silence for the Best Dirt Track Racer of all time Scott Bloomquist
GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN
HEY YOU GUYS AND GALS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
I've got that same compressor. I love it.
The heat gettin to ya up in that trailer 🤪
Good luck guys.
See if you can get a soft start capacitor for the old unit before you junk it out. Also The generator might not be able to provide the proper amount of SKVA (starting kva) to start it when the whole coach is on generator power.
👀 ... That unload looked like y'all's FIRST DAY on the JOB 🫣
... just kidding 😁
Great Team💯‼️
...by the way ...the "3 STOOGES " was a great show back in the day.... Thanks for the remake 😁
Good luck tonight fellas!
Seems like the capacitor that the wires go to, I had the same problem and changed it now it’s fine
Safe Travels and Good Luck
Air compressor has a one way check valve between compressor and tank, dand there is an air bleed(small leak) blerds of air between tank and compressor each time it cuts off.
Plumb drain to the outside of the cabinet then to bottom of the trailer. Easy to drain!
you can put sound-resistant foam around your generator
Grate racing
I got excited when I read the title, thought you guys might have finally hit on what's missing in your setups
Start capacitor😊
Rip bloomer
It’s the air compressor motor is issue it’s like the motor is weak and hard to start just my opinion good luck at the races see y’all there
Power supply problem. Check generator out put or check the circuit. Compressor motor could be going bad and you can replace the motor on compressor.
It could also be the gauge of wire (not big enough) going to the compressor from the generator. It looks like an aftermarket air compressor on the trailer.
Start up capacitor would probably help it.
Valve in tank where air goes in broken, head pressure not letting compressor start. Easy cheap fix 2:41
Can you use nitrogen in your tires
Saving the Clements engine for a "silver bullet"? RIP Bloomquist!
Will definitely be using the Clements for Eldora.
That oil on the outside of the old compressor is a sign of a problem. I'll bet money that once Dusty power washes it and checks everything, it will work fine, assuming he has knowledge of how everything works. Like others have said, weak capacitors could be most of the problem. It would be well worth taking it to someone that knows compressors and have them repair it. Better off having a 20 gallon compressor than a 10 gallon compressor as your main compressor. Also, yes, make sure you drain that water on a regular basis, at least weekly. Good luck tonight at Senoia. Hoping to see the missing man formation for the four wide out of respect for Scott.
Let's Gooooooooooo!!! Be Safe
Good job boys as usual.
Hopefully the new smaller air compressor has enough power for them
Thanks
You can buy an auto drain for the compressor. Then you don't have to worry about draining it.
Capacitor helps boost the startup of the compressor motor.
Harbor Freight also sells an auto drain for the compressor. It'll help with the water build-up in the tank.
More than likely it needs a motor and a clean air filter. Clean oil in the compressor wouldn't hurt either.
I'd start with the low pressure switch for gauge
Your old air compressor being cast iron is probably better. I suspect it has trash in the check valve or is broke and not letting the head pressure to bleed off when the unit kicks off
Bleeder valve is not releasing compressed air in the compressor head!
rained out again 😢 12 hrs we try again again
good luck and nice poster
Compressor was used to much when it was new.
I would put money in the start capacitor. That ones built into the motor it looks like. Just change motor and keep and trucking. .
Check the compasitor
chexk valve on tank may be leaking by putting pressure on top motor
Sounds like you need to replace your power supply box I forget what it’s called but we had to do it in our 5150 for the same issue. It was called like a power control box or something like that.
For about $20 change those start capacitors on the motor and she'll be good to go.
those two humps on the compressor motor are the start and run capacitors there probably weak and need replaced
Compressor head relief must blow off. So compressor does not start against full pressue
Replace the capacitors and keep the air compressor for another 10 years
