I'm from Macau and still holds a Portuguese passport. I just wanted to point out that Portugal didn't revoke 200,000 passports. Those Macau residents without Portuguese citizenship were not qualified for a Portuguese passport even before 1981. The change of nationality law was not meant to "revoke" citizenship for those who already had Portuguese passports, it was meant to confer citizenship from Jus soli (by place of birth) to Jus sanguinis (by blood). Those who born after 1981 cannot acquire Portuguese citizenship by virtue of being born in Macau. You only get Portuguese citizenship if one of your parents is a Portuguese citizen (that is my case). For those who already possess Portuguese citizenship, the 1981 law had nothing change to their citizenship rights, and their rights to pass citizenship onto their children.
I’m a Macau citizen. I hold Macau SAR, Portugal, as well as US passport. I chose to not renew my Portugal passport as it is way too expensive and only valid for 5 years instead of regular 10 years. The only Portugal document I keep renew is Portugal ID as it valid for 10 years.
In portugal people from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan buy Portuguese passport and driving license with money. Then they go to Switzerland. How it’s possible for a European country let this kind of things to happened! Danger in road!!!
As a citizen of Hong Kong and Macau, the Brits and the Portuguese should have never given up Hong Kong and Macau. What a collective mistake the world governments have fatally made. The UN is F up! Britain and Portugal should have never listened to the UN.

Realistically, the UK had no choice - most of the territory included in HK was leased as part of the 1898 2nd Peking convention and was going to revert to China (which means the PRC, since that was the entity that the UK recognized) when the 99 year lease expired anyway. At that point, HK would have been reduced to HK island and the part of the Kowloon peninsula south of Boundary St. - which would have left it in a completely unsustainable state, since most of HK's food and water comes from the northern NT. It would also have left it with no airport, since that's on land attached to Lantau, which was also part of the 1898 lease. You should direct your anger at the UK, who went out of their way to specially create a basically useless BN(O) "citizenship" that gives no right of abode anywhere - presumably to avoid the unbearable prospect of a load of HK Chinese moving to the UK.
That is not entirely true, Portugal didn’t tried to conquer China , they just wanted to establish commercial exchange route to Asia to bring new goods to Europe. And after fighting against the Dutch pirates that were tormenting the Chinese fishermans on China seas, and the Portuguese got rid of them, as a reward China gave us Macau to be settled as an important port to be established by portuguese to continue the trade routes with them. It was an collaboration between these two countries and was defined and agreed by completely different reasons than was Hong Kong by the British empire.
The native people from the former Portuguese colonies in Africa were denied full Portuguese citizenship, only the native people born in fomer Portuguese India untill 1976 and Macanese were treated as full Portuguese citizens. The law from 1981 was changed to bring the diaspora togethe At the moment politicians in Portugal are debating whether to resume the jus solis principles.
If I recall correctly, Portugal only changed its nationality law to embody jus sanguinis rather than jus soil. What that means is that the civilians born in Macau from 1982 onwards needed one of their parents to have Portuguese nationality in order to attain said Portuguese nationality. But since everyone born in Macau on or before 1981 was granted Portuguese nationality regardless of their parent/guardian’s nationality so long as they were born in Portugal proper or her many overseas provinces, that means everyone born in Macau from 1982 onwards should also be entitled to Portuguese citizenship since their parents (assuming they were born in Macau and did not denounce their nationality) have Portuguese nationality already, meaning this passport likely never came into existence. Furthermore, no sources on the internet to my knowledge confirm that a passport named “passport for the aliens of Macau” exists, and even the title of the passport only says “passport for foreigners/aliens” in English which has a more broad meaning. If you read all of this, I would love to hear your response! EDIT: it turns out a large influx of mainland emigrants moved to Macau due to WW2 and the Communist Revolution, so there probably was a large percentage of the Macanese population who didn’t have Portuguese nationality nor had children before 1982 😅
Macau, Portugal or other portugese country should be allowed to move freedom even independentes as they have things in comun between them and i Think china also recognized the contribuition of peace in that area from Portugal.Portuguese born in Macau from portuguese parents they have a double nationality therefore they shouldnt be excluded from macau or Portugal.

Indeed, for those that already had a Bilhete de Identidade, their children would get one straight away too...
