Great list! I was surprised to see YAMAM on the list since they are a police swat unit and not military but they are definitely former special force operators that make the unit.

Itay Gil of Protect Israeli Security Solutions is the former chief CQC hand to hand combatives instructor of the YAMAM. His brand of Krav Maga is top tier. If you ever considered learning Krav Maga for self-defence any dojo associated with Itay or his company would be one to go to imo.
Same about YAMAS...undercover unit similar to DUVDEVAN but belongs to Border police. Very successful unit

YAMAM is a unit in the Israeli Police. The Border Patrol has a very elite unit called YAMAS. They are part internal service / part police. Don't know where they would fit in but they also a top notch unit.

I was serving in the IDF HANDASA IN THE 70'S IN SINAI CLOSE TO SHARM EL SHIEK .
The hercules planes took off from there as it was the closest place to uganda.

I have so much respect for these guys, whatever the unit, but mostly from Sayeret Matkal. If you had to compare some superheroes to real life fighters, I'd compare them with Matkal. They are top secret for a reason, and it will never be discovered.
I met Moreno's brother once, the legendary officer and hero who died in action from Matkal, it was such a touching story, I really have big respect for this man. May he rest in peace.
He was the real life Batman, and I am serious about that. If he was alive today he would have been prime minister of the current year.

@@edan_alexander119 As a former reservist Sir I actually respect all of IDF"s Spec Forces and I'm a huge fan. But I also have a love and respect for my British cousins across the ocean. Yes I like the SAS. They are the best and the IDF are right next to them. The US SEALS are also good but they've had too much press. When they're not to discuss or disclose any info. The SAS have never talked or disclosed about their missions. More is now known about the SEALS then the Green Berets, Army Rangers,. But they're all Rough Tough Warriors. No Force is ever for the cameras. Love and Peace To All.

I would put yamam as number 1 since you have to serve in a special unit for at least 2.8 years and only 1 precent of those who apply become fighters in the yamam. It is said that they credit some of their operations to units like shaldag/matkal/shayetet 13

I am Israeli. It’s a very well made and fast paced video. Good Job! Sayeret Matkal is the most secretive and the video doesn’t show them, there is almost zero footage of what they do. YAMAM are composed of experienced retired Special Forces operators very small percentage is selected and they are operating against terrorists on almost a daily basis which gives them a unique experience, so they are probably the best in the world in hostage rescue and counter terror. But, they operate inside Israel and they are Under Birder Police, not the IDF.

I always thought shayetet 13 is Israels best unit.. was surprised to see them in the #2 spot but Sayeret Matkal must be an insane unit
They are. They operate everywhere, sometimes we might think they are Mossad agents, but they are actually from the unit. They are extremely smart, yet some don't look tough, they just have some great minds, and I do not exaggerate. I was lucky to meet one officer back then.
They are as prestige as sayeret matkal and shaldag but their is no comparison honestly, they do very different things

Great work by the IDF on putting these units together. When I think of Israel's 669 unit they remind me of the US Pararescuem ( PJ'S).
The only diffrent is that the 669 unit need to act in the air, ground, and sea. Every place that someone can be hurt, they learn how to rescue there, and they are also amazing fighters and soldiers, like any ather comando unit.
The big diff is, 669 soldiers are trained commandos, not just paramedics on helicopters
669 is quite a unique group, they also track their enemy which makes them a super elite force.
@Alex Glenn i promise to you that they are simmilar, but definetly not the same. The 669 unit are soldiers, in the most combat units in israel, and they are also rescuers, in the levels of the pj's, and maybe even more, because they work alone. Read more about it.

But yamam is not the part of IDF, they related to police.
There is a secret unit that only the Commander in Chief and a few as well know. They take some of the best and make of them members of another elite force. It is not Ghost unit.

Sayeret Matkal is awesome, sharply trained like a killing knife, camo, tactics, recon, weapons experts, psyops, infiltration, rescues, medical, assassination, counter terrorism, they never stop training. Their location, surrounded by enemies, means they can never lose. Give respect where respect is due.
As a former IDF soldier myself I have two corrections: 1) Egoz specializes in explosives. They are the demolition battalion's elite force. 2) shaldag specializes in infiltration behind enemy lines and marking enemy targets/sites to assist the air force bombard the site accurately . The list sequencing is pretty good. However I wouldn't put Maglan in the list at all. They are a simple elite unit not too special and there are much better other units that can be listed. Sayeret Golany would go in or Magav's Mistaarvim (same as Yamam but under the Border Patrol unit).
Can't understand why Mistaarim is not on the list. Undercover, dress and speak Arabic. Reconnasance and infiltration

My guess is #2 Shayetet 13 due to the intense physical training as well as mental coolness . Mistakes underwater can quickly result in disaster for the diver .

A couple points. 1. Yamam isn't a military unit its a police unit which should be left out even though its comprised only of former operators from these very units. 2. If you were to keep Yamam it should first place, I can explain why further if you want. 3. Probably should have included Yahalom, the militarys special tactics EOD unit.

Sayeret Golani a great unit was involved in the 1974 ill fated rescue of school children not Sayaret Matkal. YAMAS - the police mistarviim (undercover) unit is also quite prestigious.
In 1974 Sayeret Golani was involved in three missions, Maalot, Kibutz Shamir and Kiryat Shmona.
In my opinion the Yamam is Israels premiere unit. I have heard that many memebers previously served in other special units while in the IDF (many of the list) a long with the GADSAR recon units of the Infantry.
