Fuck yeah this song is badass. If you wanna hear more good primus tracks check out “Welcome to this World” off the same album or “Goldenboy” and “The Chastising of Renegade” off of The Brown Album. They had a new drummer for that album and it leans more toward the funk side than the prog rock/metal side
He was, they all recorded this album while they were high. They were also extremely anxious.
The middle part of the song is straight up Jazz Fusion & Funk.. Get you some Frank Zappa, 70's Miles Davis, Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock etc..

Primus is underrated for me. Incredible musicianship. Best power trio since Rush. I know Les Claypool gets most of the shine, but their guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Tim Alexander are essential for the Primus sound. Larry is one of the most unique guitarists in popular music. Heavy Zappa influence.
Larry is a bastard. But for real. Dude is one of the best guitarists for sure just his style and his background and past.
Don't worry about the lyrics. They are secondary. The star of the band is the bass, played by singer Les Claypool. It's all about the bass and the overall feeling. It's a jam band. Just get in the groove and kick back. Some songs are better than others. This isn't a fave of mine, but the bass shined, as per usual. They are one of a kind.

Yes it a bit strange and you're right; the vocals are in the background and its not really "singing" anyway - Primus is all about the playing/music. and it's definitely an aquired taste haha

@@elysehfm8797 That also was a gimmick used by Primus fans. You can even hear Les Claypool say : "We're Primus, and yes like we do suck!" at the beginning of "Those damn blue collars tweekers" Woodstock 94 live version.

Not hearing much appreciation of the great hi hat, tom and bass work. This song in pretty much in 4/4, the time sig isn't special, there is just great syncopation. I feel like you missed a lot of cool nuances to this track.

EliseHFM, I love that you asked this, because I wondered myself, and meant to ask. I looked at his playlists last night to see if there were any I missed, and saw vegan recipe videos. I just recently became vegan as well, after being vegetarian for the past 24 years. It's been a great transition! I wish I would have done it ages ago. Teez, props to you. I'll watch you even more now lol.

I totally disagree first time ever listening to primus and they sound great great riffs.
It's okay, Primus is an acquired taste. Songs like "Candyman" or "shake hands with beef" are easier on the ears.
