      Im not sure if you've seen anything from this guys YT channel; Clayton Crowley. 8 great videos, "Making the Case" for the goat 🐐 of Basketball 🏀. The video for Larry Bird, 😳🤯... All of these videos are about 3 years old, but I'm pretty sure and everyone can agree that Kobe (RIP) 😔 and Curry could be added to this list. jmo

      Sorry, ya talk over what Doc Rivers said. It would explain why the Hawks bench went crazy like that. He told them all 'rainbow, into the trainers lap.' And did that chit. Those were the starters that had already been torched on the bench. They put the whole team on him that game. You see, Bird told everybody days before he was going to break the team scoring record against them, and did just that.

      Yup. I'd point out as far as the "transition offense" comment, if you watch the "Bird greatest passer" video there's about a five minute stretch where it's just cross-court dimes. Sometimes inbounding the ball from under one basket all the way down to a player under the other basket.

Larry could (and often did) attack EVERY SQUARE INCH of the court FROM anywhere ON it - including from OOB from underneath the opponent's backboard and/or from the far baseline coming off a DEAD FREAKIN' BALL! You only got a mere taste of his passing ability here b/c as The Logo, Jerry West, said, "He was the most complete player I've ever seen."
    Side note...that blue twitter bird? His name is "Larry" for a reason....

    For those that think Larry Bird was not as good as he really was. This comment is for those whom never had the chance to see him play.
    Little know thing about Larry to those that never saw him play , he could effect the outcome of a game and never take a shot, thats how devastating his passing skills were. Here is one thing that most fans (people) either don't know or try to ignore, prior to Larry joining the NBA there was no such thing as a three point line, that came in when Bird was starting his first year in his NBA career. Just think about what would todays game be without the three point line or if the line was one foot farther out like it was when it was first introduced also the three point shot was viewed by most as a gimmick. Bird used it as a strategic weapon to end a game. Food for thought.
    At that time it was not about the individuals stats it was about the win. But if you need some stats here you go:
    Here are some of Larry Bird's notable career achievements and statistics:
    Three-time NBA champion (1981, 1984, 1986); Two-time NBA Finals MVP (1984, 1986); Three-time NBA MVP (1984-86); 12-time NBA All-Star (1980-88, 1990-92); Nine-time All-NBA First Team (1980-88);
    All-NBA Second Team (1990); Three-time All-NBA Defensive Second Team (1982-84); NBA Rookie of the Year (1980); NBA All-Rookie Team (1980); Three-time NBA Three-Point Contest champion (1986-88);
    Career-high in points: 60 (March 12, 1985) -- tied for franchise record with Jayson Tatum; Named NBA Coach of the Year (1998); and Named NBA Executive of the Year (2012).
    Larry Bird, was the first player to accomplish the 50-40-90 achievement, and one of two players to achieve the feat in multiple seasons.
    Career averages:
    24.3 points per game
    10.0 rebounds per game
    6.3 assists per game
    88.6% free throw percentage
    49.6% field goal percentage
    37.6% 3-point percentage
    If you need more proof, just look up the February 14, 1985 game Celtics vs. Jazz where Larry Bird was one steal away in the third quarter from being the second ever quadruple double in league history but he wold have been the first to record one in regulation play. The first one was recorded in Bulls vs. Hawks in O.T. October 18, 1974 that is Nate Thurmond,
    Now we can't forget that Bird famously played with two injured ankles and a notoriously cranky back that forced him to lay down on the floor during practice breaks. After season-ending foot surgery just six games into the 1988-89 season. The final thing most are unaware of Larry Bird played with threats against his life.

    Bird is the GOAT. I said what I said. Better than Jordan. Compare the stats. Bird played only 9 healthy years, and had more career offensive and sensible rebounds, and assists than Jordan (which is unforgivable since Jordan was a GUARD and Bird was a Forward). Their shooting percentages were identical, and Bird was a WAY better passer than Jordan. Jordan's Bulls were 11-34 against Bird's Celtics, and got swept out of the playoffs twice.

    8:49 he knew as soon as he released it that it wasn’t going in. Watch again and you’ll see him start for the rebound immediately. He had a coach in high school who taught him how to anticipate how the ball would bounce off using angles and speed. That’s how he was able to average 10 a game and get into position for some of those tap passes. He was just a savant on the court.

    Okay, so I just found your video here and your channel this morning. Mainly, because I'm seeing so many folks in your generation finally seeing what I grew up watching.
    And you're right young Fella. Bird was better than Magic. Larry actually had NO holes in his game and was, and still is just by recorded NBA stats alone, regardless of watching his play, an all-round player, who could've played ANY position he wanted to. Also, Magic said, while they were both in the game and their primes, that "Larry is the only one I fear."
    Considering the level of historical competition on those days, whether Dr. J, Moses Malone, Moncrief, Bernard King, Clyde Drexler, Ewing, Dominique, and Kareem? Yeah, Bird was dominant over all these greats. Did he miss shots? Of course he did. Was he also the first member of the 50-40-90 club? Yes! And had multiple seasons with that alone? Yes! Did he win 3 mvps in a row, after Bill and Wilt? YES! Did he get 2 Finals MVPs? Yes! Did he win the 3pt contest for 3 yrs in a row? Yes! Was he in the top 5 of mvp voting multiple yrs in a row? YES! Did he win "Rookie of the Year " over Magic by 60 votes? YES!
    Was in tbr Allstar game every season? Yes! Did he make all-nba teams 12 times, YES and won the was an underrated defender by generations after he played? Sadly, yes. See Bird was dangerous with the ball in his hands but was even more so after he passed it. He was constantly moving to set a pick, or running around a screen. He was always doing something and THAT is what made him so lethal!
    I can't tell you how many weeks I WEPT after we watched his retirement that, thankfully; they aired foe those of us who couldn't be there in person.
    There has never been another player quite like Bird. Have some players, like Dirk, and Luka, and the other guy Yokich (sp?), watched film of Larry's game? Oh yeah, I know so.
    I mean I believe Larry is actually credited with inventing his patented "Stepback Jumpshot." Before he came into the league, right after the merger of the ABA & NBA, we hadn't seen play like what he and Magic brought. To say it was rough and explosive would be a HUGE understatement!
    Okay. I'll stop now or I may never. There will never be enough space for me to write out how AWESOME he was, from DAY 1!
    THANK YOU for showing my Larry and MY GOAT some much deserved love!
    Take care,
    Lady Aszneth

    I think Kobe is definitely better and greater than magic, but I'm sorry Magic Johnson is the greatest as in most accomplished PG to touch a basketball, I personally think it's not fair to compare eras obviously the newer one is gonna be better you gotta take it for what it was if you had your favorite superstar born and grew to play in their time they would be nothing like how they are now but they would still be great

    Bird is DEFINATELY better than Magic.. Magic only PASSED better than bird.. Bird did EVERYTHING ELSE better, PLUS he was a great passer too..
    Kobe greater than Magic? well i see it this way.. Basketball is a TEAM game.. so if i'm building a TEAM, im picking Jordan, NOT Kobe.. im picking Bird next after jordan (my stretch power forward, averaged 10 boards a game during the rough 80s and was LETHAL in the post), then a Center like Kareem.. Then a point guard, and that wont be Kobe.. gotta be Magic.. then i need. a small forward.. Kobe? na i dont need a Jordan clone to play alongside Jordan.. I'll give it to Lebron (yikes).. Kobe can be my 6th man off the bench..
