Vidmar was an interesting cat, a chess hobbiest that had a 'real' job as an engineer and just crushed GMs for fun. In a 1927 tournament in New York (via Bill Wall) "It was in this tournament that Vidmar lit up a cigar while playing his friend Nimzovich. Nimzovich was irritated by the smoke and complained to the tournament director, GM Geza Maroczy. After consulting with Maroczy, Vidmar agreed to stop smoking and the game resumed. A few minutes later, Vidmar absent-mindedly pulled out another cigar, but was not smoking it. Nimzovich went up to Maroczy and complained again. Maroczy said that Vidmar was not smoking. Nimzovich replied to Maroczy, “You’re a Grandmaster. You know the threat is stronger than the execution.”
Hi eric Its my first time writing you a comment , but im really happy to do that , youre one of my best teatchers your style in explaining is great , your analysis to the lines is really good , keep going on the Budapest gambit more lines your doing so well Greatings from.egypt
Hi Eric, grate video! Suggestions: -Video about the stafford gambit -Video about the best moves in the damiano gambit (even doe it is super silly opening) -Video about the king's gambit and all the traps in it
The Budapest is very fun for black and dangerous for white if they don't know how to respond! Great way to avoid the main lines but still be solid for blitz games too.
Amazing video about the Budapest! I started to play this today in a blitz game on Lichess and had a lot of fun! Would be nice to see more lines if its possible.
Thanks! Would like to see more opening traps where White or Black can dictate play early on, with natural looking moves leading to disaster, I.e., King’s Gambit, Falkbeer Countergambit, Scandinavian, Trompowsky Attack, Center Game ( Danish/Goring Gambit), Scotch Gambit, Benko Gambit, etc.
Great content! But can u maybe make a video about either kings gambit, the halloween gambit or maybe the fried liver attack??? Or maybe play them on lichess??
Thanks for great content and continuing to support your youtube followers! I've watched many of your videos but still struggle against super active queens in the opening. Are there any general principles for a beginner player to shut down queens flying around the board and gobbling up my pieces?
No don't edit anything out. You're my favourite chess youtuber/streamer because you are not pretentious. You even share your lost games which is commendable.
@Eric Rosen The Budapest what is the "budapest counter move" or what can you play to counter the budapest By the way im really happy that i found your channel, you teach so.... relaxed? i dont know how to say that but its simply nice watching your videos!
hi eric, love the videos, keep up the great opening tactics! speaking of openings, i'm learning about the latvian gambit and was wondering if you could do a tutorial video of how black can setup traps or get a good winning position, all i know is.. (main line) 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f5 3. Nxe5 Qf6 4. d4 (or Nc4) 5. fxe4 Nc3, from here I was wondering if there's some traps maybe black could setup or rapid development it would be great if you could do this, I understand you're a busy man so this may not concern you but thanks anyway!
Hey Eric, Nice Video; i‘d wish a Video about what to do in the London-System if Black plays Lf5...the Engine suggests Ld3 but after that we reach a very untypical Londonposition, wich i hate to Play with white. Help :/ Sincerely Juli
I think you should examine 4...g5+(From Black Side) because it is exciting to play and have good tactical opportunities for both side PLS COVER THAT PART IT WILL BE VERY USEFUL FOR US. Also I wanted you to cover After Bb4+ from black what if white play Nc3 instead of Nbd2
Hey Eric..I really wonder should I focus on openings or the endgame..I'm kind of an amateur. And I've heard many people say that focus on the mid games and end games rather than openings only! Please help.
Very nice ! Thank you for your very effective way to consider the opening theory ! Did you ever try the Fajarowicz variation or did you alway stay in the "normal" budapest 3... Ng4 ?
If you really answer questions people ask you, I have one too : As black, after 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 c5 (Benoni) 3. e3 (?). What is the best idea for black now?
Hey Eric, I'm enjoying your Budapest lectures very much. I was wondering what happens if white simply gives back the material to black and going straight for development with the following line: 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e5 3. dxe5 Ng4 4. e4 (returning the pawn and the knight has to move a 3rd time which seems just weird)
Yes the knight moves 3 times but white has made only pawn moves. In my experience black is fine in this line. E.g. Nxe5 5.f4 Nec6 and your plan is a5-Na6 and to develop the bishop on c5 or b4 if allowed.
@@elrodtherocker I wouldn't play f4 that early. Seems a little bit too weaking to me especially without any development. After e4, I'd rather play a3 (to prevent Bb4+) and Bc5 would be slightly inaccurate due to b4 and white gets to put the bishop on b2 with beautiful counterplay. I'd really like to hear Eric's point of view for this line.
6:10 I know theres no comments here older than like 4-5 years and people probably know the main move already but Qe7 is wrong and black should play Bxc3+ instead first

Thanks for making more videos on the Budapest gambit! I have started using the Budapest gambit. Much love from Finland! ❤️
I would love to see a video were you are showing variations of Sicilian Najdorf Poisoned Pawn variation
Yes definitely
Maybe yes Maybe not
As I like Bobby Fischer I think it's a good idea
He doesn’t play the najdorf though lol Budapest is in his repertoire
Hi Eric, grate video!

I love that he left the towel bit in
Your explanation was almost identical to when you showcased it at the St. Louis Chess Club. Good stuff!

Excellent analysis. Great video, keep up the good work.
A strong line for white (if you face this) is to go Qd2 and if Qa5, Rb1 effectively stopping Nxe5
Keep it up IM Eric! Amazing content as always
Amazing video about the Budapest! I started to play this today in a blitz game on Lichess and had a lot of fun! Would be nice to see more lines if its possible.
Eric in this recording makes it seem like the world has ended and he’s recording daily videos of his survival life, like on I Am Legend
Best chess youtuber out there, happy New Year Eric!

Hands down the best chess channel on UA-cam
WE MISS YOU ON UA-cam
Yep, I rarely do Twitch but I'm always on YT
Great video! Could you possibly do another one of these where you show lines for the London and display miniatures?
Very interesting play, thanks.
hi, I would really like to see videos featuring you playing several games with the same opening, or several variations of the same opening.
Hello from January 2nd 2022, Happy New Year from the future Eric!
Great content! But can u maybe make a video about either kings gambit, the halloween gambit or maybe the fried liver attack??? Or maybe play them on lichess??
Eric youre the best chess teacher i've seen

Great video, Eric!
Great one ! I have to admit, short videos are also nice

Probably best for white not to hang on to the pawn too long. Something like 4. e4 Nxe5. 5. f4 gives white a good game.
4:02 respectful It's THE ADAN not a noise
Hey Eric!
Can you make a video on the Nimzowitsch-Larsen attack?

I was telling to tell Nc3 because I had seen a vedio of STL Chess Club in that vedio Yaser serrirewan told that this position is better for White
4... g5 is not check, why did you write + there?
Sorry for that was a mistake
Its funny how you say Milan Vidmar because Im from Slovenia and Milan Vidmar is from there too:)
Eric could you please examine Budapest lines after Bb4* ; Nc3 ; Qe7 ; Qd5?
Hi Eric can i request on some lecture on Carlsbad structure, cambridge spring and Stafford gambit....I will look forward to see....

I played this today after i watched this!!! lol
Can you do a video on the Nimzo-Indian?
Awesome

I can recommend playing a setup combining b6 Bb7 and g6 Bb7... the double fianchetto is nice and leads to a solid position in the middle game.

Show us d4- nf6- if white play nf3 or bf4 because he might know I will play Budapest then what I going to play . please tell me
