Photographing a spectacular Sunset - Hunslet Leeds - Railway & Train Photography

- Railway photography is my passion and I do love a good sunset, this video is an hour spent on Pepper Road bridge Hunslet, capturing a mixture of Northern and Freightliner trains under a fantastic sunset sky.
For low light dusk and night railway photography I usually take two frames, one at a low ISO and longer exposure, then another frame capturing the train, at a shutter speed to stop the train but usually with a high ISO, I then blend the two in photoshop giving a higher quality image with much less noise than would be normal for a night railway photographs.

Excellent and informative as ever, Andrew. I find that Freighliner terminals are quite magical places when the darkness falls...
Cheers, Peter, this is a great spot for night time railway photography, there’s quite a bit of artificial light and all the shinny rails add to the scene.
I spent some happy hours spotting the trains on that bridge and the nearby embankment in the early 1980s.
Lived 5 mins walk away.
Many thanks, unlike many locations this one still has a good railway feel and doesn’t suffer from dereliction, we must have watched the same trains, this was my local line towards Woodlesford as a kid in the late 70’s early 80’s.
Another stunning scene Andrew , I am looking forward to your next adventure !!
Cheers Kev
Thanks 👍 Kev, glad you liked this short video, a few more Autumn adventures in the pipeline - stay tuned.
Top banana yet again
Cheers, Mark that's appreciated.
Some very interesting images and techniques. The mono worked really well.
Many thanks, Simon, this is a great spot for sunsets - its only a few minutes drive - but I think i’ve over done it from here now though.
Thank you Andrew for bringing us, yet again, another great video. As usual lots to be inspired by. Autumn is the best time of the year for our hobby so looking forward to plenty of opportunities.
Many thanks Steve, yes I mustn't let Autumn pass me by this year, hopefully we have some bright still days with those Autumn Colours
A very enjoyable watch as ever, i look forward to the next one.
Thanks, Peter appreciated and thanks for your continued support.
Some great night shots there some even looked a little spooky.
Thanks, the clouds were incredible really, giving a super display.
Fascinating blending skills you have! The results are superb.
Thank you so much!
Fabulous sunset pictures Andrew
Thanks very much, its a super spot for sunset railway photography.
More great photos 😀👍
Thank you! Cheers, I do enjoy a good sunset!
Absolutely brilliant photos as usual Andrew!
Many thanks! I do love a good sunset, this is a super railway location when the sun goes down.
Brilliant sunset photos, I do like how you take 2 photos and blend them in
Thanks Simon, taking two shots is a useful technique in getting a presentable image without lots of noise and grain, I do like a good sunset too.
Great work,thanks for share,keep going.
Thank you, I will as we are now heading into my favourite part of the year for photography.
I was only about 2 mins away from here but working but great stuff anyway,Pepper Road is 20 we’ll definitely round the corner to Parnaby pub it is.
Thanks Rob, I’ve had a look and it is 20 mph- there’s some idiots on the road.
@@AndrewShenton definitely is,with this fuel situation it’s kept the boy racers quiet on night near us but no doubt they’ll be back once it’s back to normal.
Super. Prefer the colour to the mono in the last case~!
Thanks Darryl, I'm in agreement, I do prefer the colour version, I do particularly like the contrast in colours at sunset. The reason for the inclusion - I was taking part in a B&W photography session the other night and I'm on the look out for suitable B&W material.
Nice video like and subscribed from Czech Republic 🙂👍👍👍
Excellent - welcome to the channel and I hope you enjoy railways from the UK
@@AndrewShenton you're welcome 🙂
Outstanding images and brilliant video - How were the local hoodlums ?
Thanks Kevin, no trouble from the locals, I usually get a few asking what I’m taking pictures of.
Yet other good one sir how about going to colton junction lots of trains
Not a bad idea John, I've not been there for a while, certainly not since the new wires on the Church Fenton line have gone up.
