They do a lot of talking in this video without really saying much.
Yes! "They" are planning to use "technology" to collect "data" to solve "problems" ... That's.... 21st Century Thinking™
NORTH CAROLINA-GEO WATCH exactly sounds like an excuse for global communism if you ask me, Margaret Thatcher was right all along
@NORTH CAROLINA-GEO WATCH I know, right?! Using science, technology and data to solve problems.... so stupid! What is wrong with these people!
I believe that occupational groups should work collaboratively if they want to find a solution.for example people can be encouraged to use bicycle or something like that so some problems can be solved naturally without the effort of a city planner
I personally ride an electric cargo bike, but any mode of personal transport will provide good maneuverability and ability to park : )
The Smart city as a whole is a bigger problem to our freedom than trivial crime.
First step to 15 minutes cities. Virtual prisons
People always see the positive side because that's how marketing works.
The negative sides will be downplayed just by accusing the critics of "conspiracy theories". It works all the time.
Abundant, reliable, and quality public transportaion system can solve all these problems and more.
My thoughts exactly. Simply get the cars off the roads, encourage better public transit or increase the number of bike lanes and walking paths within the city
In toronto, bike lanes are not a great solution because of the long painful winter. PT and walkable areas with their own amenities and attractions are amazing repeatable solutions (we have underground walkable areas in toronto for winter too)
Agree!!!!
Sometimes people / companies try to come up with an innovation but the real solution has been spoken about for decades and it is generally really simple. All architects and urbanists (designers and planners) would be able to solve these problems if politics and economic interests allow them to
ofc it can solve the problem but its some 18th century thinking
they think in 21st century, use tech to collect data then boom problem solved (?)
This is basically CT-OS from watchdogs
CtOS data wasn't open source but I like the comparison
Excellent solution for oligarchs and borg-like cattle alike.
*Here's a fun game:*
Take a shot everytime someone says data.
South Florida already has the parking sensor
Improving the coordination of cars is basically just the modern version of adding another lane... It makes cars more practical which makes driving in the city easier, hence more people do it. Buses and trains have an insurmountable advantage over cars in that the density of people is so much higher. If we had smaller cars that somehow rivaled that density maybe we could begin to think about solving infrastructure with personal vehicles, but anything else is a temporary solution. The only solution is to steer people away from driving, with walkable amenities or transport etc
cars means freedom the criminal bankers who fund the fake global waring scam , want to take away all our freedoms , co2 is 00.049% of the atmosphere , co2 is life , all life is carbon , co2 is good makes all plants grow fast better and produce more fruit , the anti carbon agenda is an anti human agenda anti life agenda , zero carbon means zero humans and zero life , you are being lied too !

Democracy and equity. It is not ok to build a society where some are rich and most others are not. A city or society has to be measured by the happiness or wellbeing of it's people - all people; not just privileged ones.
Kissa Deff This is a shockingly primitive comment.

Put multi story parking lots on every train station (or public transport system), make it only available for people using that system for say ...48hrs. In Sydney People would be more inclined to catch public transport if they could get to them easier. E.g. for neighbourhoods around cities- drive to station, park car - under cover every time, train to 90% of places like shops, take shopping back on train, go to car and drive home. It would feel exactly like a shopping mall... only the mall is the city.
Car rental hub from parking tower or taxi / Uber to span the spaces not covered by public transport system. Monitor the nodes for congestion... not the people.
Piss off you brain-dead sheep.

I learned the other day that in the Netherlands obesitas is a much smaller problem than in equallly wealthy other nations. The difference is explained not by how healthy we eat, but how much we move. Not ecercise but walk, cycle, etc The simple fact that the safety of cyclist and the planners goal of a compact cities alternated by green zones, has meant that we much sooner walk or cylcle to the neerest store or work. Now we know this helps also tremendously with congestion, polution, general health, etc though never intended as a solution to these issues. Technologists tend to look for solutions in the direction of more technology, eg. generating data flows to steer traffic towards parking places. But the idea of a habitable city comes from somehwere else or am I wrong?
Jelle Alkema , In West Virginia the Teachers were forced to wear Fit Bit watches to monitor their daily activity. If they had insufficient activity they got a hefty fine.
So vague... The only concrete thing I've heard is the parking sensor. Look at Europe. The way to design intersections is to make roundabouts. The way to solve parking in parking garages that say how many spots are left. Build tram lines to facilitate inner city transport. Look at Europe where everything is much more dense.
It's also in Europe that most of research on smart cities are made, investment and initiatives too. There is a lot of infrastructural problems in modern urban centers that can be solved by replanning and rebuilding, but it takes a lot more money and time than technological solutions. We really shouldn't put technology on everything that we see, we have to analyze the problem and find the best fitting solution. But considering that in the next years even more people will be drawn to the urban areas as opposed to the rural areas, technology IS a good solution to consider when thinking about the problems that these sudden increase in population will bring

I wouldn't doubt it. "Smart Cities" is WEF speak for NWO and global control. Decentralize, people!
This video pissed me off. He kept saying he puts the data online like 4 time. Ok we go it. You are so transparent. Good job. Why don't you take actions. Why don't you incorege people to ride pike? Why don't you take out some of the lanes and make them bike only? Why don't you take parking space and make it free parking for bikes? Some times you have to be mean to solve the problem. I mean like "froce" people to ride pikes. Really. People some time need to be literally controlled in a not direct way. Sillcon valley think they can reach the moon by writing a code and make it open source. Come one! You have to get down and make things happen. It kinda sad to see so much brilliant human power in Silicon Valley just focusing on the IT industry. I think they can do much more!
fsix YOU are part of a very dangerous crowd....YOU are just one sheep in a large flock of mind-controlled idiots that actually believe the government cares about the good of the people. You believe statistics as if the government would never lie to you. How DARE you say people need to be "forced" into doing things such as riding a bike. I don't want to ride a fucking bike! Neither you nor the government have the right to "control" me. How scary is a person like you! I had to read your comment three times to make sure I wasn't mis reading your message. Nobody needs to be controlled - this is what they WANT you to believe so that you can help push the agenda of a big government that wants control of every aspect of our lives under the guise of "sustainable development" or resiliency or climate change or global warming. It's all a bunch of hogwash and if you weren't brainwashed, the truth would be revealed to you. People do NOT need to be "controlled" indirectly, directly, or otherwise. There IS no overpopulation. Until we are literally should to shoulder in our neighborhoods walking down the sidewalk, I will see it as a lie. Again, you and others like you are the enemy.

I can tell you have reviewed your reply I really like how well it was written. Good job really. The fact of the matter is we are humans and the only things really distinguish us form maybe social animals is the complexity of our rules which literally control us. We are controlled weather you like it or not. And it's not necessary a bad thing. No. Government cares about it's citizen and the well being of it's people or at least that is the purpose of such an organization. It's a good talking point that "government doesn't care about us".

Given the vast wealth of knowledge on how first nation people of Australia have lived for thousands of years without recourse to any material world structures little less electricity or agriculture, the whole premise of a smart city one maintained through greater infiltration of AI marks a significant decline in intelligence masked as technological innovation. The whole problem and solution is mind created. The domain of the heart operates outside the parameters of technology, no amount of technological advances can create community, unconditional love, compassion or generosity. The truth of this is self evident. The need to even have to label a city as smart is revealing in and of itself.

This is an interesting watch - and I'm really glad it highlights how the whole thing depends entirely on user data that is shared. BUT this is also the Achilles Heel of the Smart City philosophy: that of citizens being willing to share their data. We did a video primer on this recently ua-cam.com/video/MJW7tV0sofE/v-deo.html&t= and it really does depend on laws around privacy and data. That's why places like Shanghai might be quicker to develop the Smart City in reality before western nations. So I'm not 100% sure if I agree with your point at 06:45 where you think that Smart Cities will require a well developed democracy. (I hope I am wrong however).

Westerners are really negative about smart cities. We in Singapore are actually pushing ahead to read traffic data and see traffic conditions on websites to gauge if we want to travel on that particular highway. At the same time, we check our apps to see which parking lot in the city has the least charge with available slots for parking. It also helps that we are able to check our app to see when is the next bus/train and it’s current capacity(filled/empty) helping to plan our way out of house to the bus stop or mrt station. We also get integrated governmental services so all process like renewing passport, registering for a new company, filing taxes can be done online via internet. Not sure why it’s all about surveillance people are concern about, if you are afraid of surveillance you guys shouldn’t own a mobile phone. They are tracking all our usage and what we do all the time.

Being a car enthusiast is fine, same as someone being into horse riding is fine. But don't try to hold back society just because owning a car is part of your identity. We can't sustain our big cities if everyone drives and most people wouldn't need to drive if they had other options.
