Tbh I admire your courage to show off that you don't know how to build prettily and actually ask for advice. I tend to get frozen up when I sense I don't don't do something well, and that makes for a whole lot of stress
Well done man great vid. Just one small tip If you use slabs for floors and only place them on the top block, you save half of your wood and make the rooms feels larger, As far as inspiration goes often see something normally natural or at least an onld building in nice scenery and try to replicate it with a minecrafy taste.
hey nice video! my biggest suggestion for the build is that depth is everything. it’ll help your builds not look flat and help them look less blocky. To do this, i suggest adding framing using logs one block out from the build, and create things like windowsills to help break up the flatness. You can also use texturing to create depth by using lighter and darker blocks to convey light and shadow. Also, I would break up that large window on the top with some log framing and instead of regular glass, use light gray or gray stained glass. And the pillars supporting your house are a bit spindly, using something like logs or planks instead of fences could help. overall though, great start for someone who is just learning! Enjoying the series and can’t wait to see what’s next.
Very nice job for your first real build! For the outside detailing, go for fence posts & gates, trapdoors, buttons, and walls. Even if it's not exactly like the picture, the extra details will help give it more depth.
Loving the series already. It reminds me of my first house when I started playing over a decade ago. To add to the suggestions, your build lacks depth. If you need building help maybe try to colab with capybara. The guy builds awesome stuff on 2b.
I usually create a creative test copy of my survival world that I rapidly test different designs until I find one that I like. Then once I have a design I like, I build it in survival
I love that upstairs window! The whole house is just gorgeous! My favorite thing to do in Minecraft when I have those corner walls is to just put a bookshelf right in front of it. Sometimes I’ll even do the chiseled bookshelves with the idea of putting books I write in it, I end up taking a lot of notes in Minecraft such as important coordinates and what materials I need for what and whatnot.
17:20 I would put some carpet and put whatever pets I may have over there + an item frame with a stake on the floor (dog food) or with a fish (cat food)
Hey, was quite a noob at building myself but learning that the whole block can transfer to slabs or wall/fence or stairs has helped my houses a lot, looking less cubic and more realistic, playing with textures that way makes the wall looks fantastic, you got to try it yourself PS : caring about symetry tooo much was also a huge dealbreaker of mine what you did there with a non symetric design is really good for a first build dont try too hard to make everything mirror like good job mate
a good tip for ur building is you should always make you foundation slightly thicker than your actucual house. also when building with glass never buidl with polar oposites as you did there, replace the whole windoe with balck stainhed glass pains, also stair cases are hard to make work so the safest option is to ether place them in the direct center of the build on wall to make it look best
Good video, I'm a fan for sure, my only advice is when building or traveling on 2b2t is to not build anything visible and mess with the natural terrain, these guys who play this server seriously will see this giant building or a missing grass block why fly hacking and immediately go for grief, never log out or sleep in a base or you will find yourself trapped in lava, always respawn and log a couple hundred blocks away and deep under the surface, always shove important items in an ender chest and always keep moving further away from spawn
Hey man, really great video, I think you have lots of potential for this channel! I'm not a builder myself, but from watching countless videos of others building (Grian), I have some tips that might help: - Make things look less blocky, possibly add more stairs, slabs, other interesting blocks that will provide texture -Surfaces shouldn't be so flat, you could have some things jutting out, maybe some plant pots hanging out or really anything that fits the design. I think the jutting out of the roof definitely made quite a difference, so keep going with that. - Similar to the previous one, but more with the blocks themselves; gradients and changing up the blocks you place for the walls makes a huge difference. You've started in that direction, but I think more variation would be better. - Just make things interesting and out there; if you look hard enough you'll be able to utilise blocks in ways you've never thought of before. Not an amazing example, but you can use a side of the loom to represent an empty bookshelf. - Lastly, I think with that type of build, you might not actually want that much symmetry, but it's completely up to you. In my opinion, the more unevenness, the better, and avoid completely flat walls, even if there's a block palette already there. And for the space underneath the roof, you might just want to block that up, I'm not sure. Great you're putting yourself out there, and sorry for the essay!
Looks cool! ive played minecraft for 12 years on and off through life, I never really built anything I've always been a pvper. This video made me want to build something myself on 2b since that's the last thing I have to do. Best of luck finishing the base.
great vid. just subscribed. I just wanted to mention that you could have used slabs for your roof to get that extra slant. they might not look to bad as an addition to what you have now.
The thing you highlight here is why I stopped playing on 6b6t Going up against players with hacked clients, whilst using a vanilla client can be so demoralizing.
Hey, just a suggestion add mod pack that connects glass...the view from back would be unmatched, and music choice was great tbh ..will be waiting for the upcoming episodes
Hoo hooo great video r1kson i love different ideas like this and i playing minecraft since pocket edition (10 years) but i didn't killed ender dragon in survival mode. damn... but at least i love the game and sometimes it feels like im going to my childhood... but i didn't played multiplayer in my childhood so i don't have any loved server to play. Have a nice day 😊
Ok, for the cows name I think "Brown Streak" 😂 As far as the upper room I think it would be best to wall off the ends with barrels for storage... Finally you should look into spiral stairs to go from level to level... Great Video, looking forward to the series... You're crazy to build on 2b2t after your first temp base was greifed, lol!
The base is looking alright, very accurate to the model, tho i would change the pillars supporting the left side of the house, they look really weak, maybe replace them with full blocks? Ill leave the rest to people as i am zero cretive haha. I like the series, but i like it more just for the fact is still on 2b2t and not in boring singleplayer. You never know what will happen to the base in the future. Keep it up Rickson and sorry i missed todays stream , what a pity, ill catch the next one 100%
You never textured the sandstone and if you put upside down stairs underneath staircases it will look a lot better, I also agree with the comment that the pillars look a little weak.
This is the first video I've seen of yours! It was awesome! This is about to be one of my favorite let's plays i know it! Also kinda bummed I found it at the beginning of the series 😂 now I can't binge!
When I make a build I usually get a general idea of what I want, then look up like 3-5 minecraft builds of similar style and pick and choose what aspects I like and then kinda change it as I build, I never really have a concrete plan, I just build
tbh i think you've done a good job, not perfect but not bad ! i'm really think this is an interesting series maybe next time you can try and make some farms also for your brown cow you need to put it into a boat or it will despawn or name it or put a lead on it
well actually i just wing it. I build with the things that feel right and just look cool. In most of my builds I like to use deepslate bricks combined with dark oak and lots of glass. recently i wanted to use bamboo planks so i built a jungle house where i used my least favourite wood (jungle wood) but it turned out pretty fire. I like to build with stone as a trim and wood next to the windows. What I dont like is to think too much when im building.
Stairs / half slabs to smooth out roof, trap doors (any wood) left and right side of windows for decoration , dirt at ground level windows surrounded by trap doors with a flower or mushroom planted in them, use copper rod above rooftop to prevent lighting strike / fire.... looks great so far though 😉
@@darkuma1692 good point! I usually make like a stone (or other non flammable base) around the rod if I dont want it sticking up too high - made that mistake before 😂
I've played 2b for 8 and a half years and I remember this life. I spent a year just wandering in unenchanted iron armor back then. Actually today I found my first hidey hole on a wdl of spawn from the Archive. That hole is long gone now. My first spawn point is in the water cube now. When I make a build I tend to do exactly what you did. I find real world inspiration and design my build after it. Sometimes I even recreate real world buildings in the game. My inspiration is mainly mid 1800s to 1920s architecture. Places like Paris, New York, and Chicago are my main inspirations for builds. I'm actually designing a map art hall designed after the 1893 Chicago World's Fair Palace of Fine Arts. I can't wait to actually build it on 2b2t.
How much does it cost to skip the login queue on 2b2t? My character has a full inventory, but I haven't played in a few years and my base is probably destroyed.

Trees grow pretty equally if you place them every third block
