I've fired several small 25's, and found all of them - even the cheapies - to be surprisingly accurate and no problems with feeding. For a small pocket gun, they would be my first choice. Of course, we have all been told that they lack power to stop a fight. Strangely, I have never heard this from anyone who was shot with one, so I'll withhold judgement for now.
I recently heard a statistic from a credible LE source that said the in larger amount of murders committed in the USA in a year where a firearm is used is done with small caliber guns like these.
I was under the impression that the .25 acp was designed to be ballistically equivalent to .22 long rifle with the reliability advantages of a centerfire cartridge, certainly appears to be the case.
I remember watching my first Paul Harrell video, it was his analysis of the FBI Miami shooting. Paul is a great teacher, and a good video maker! I would love to take one of his classes!

The original James Bond gun in Ian Fleming's James Bond books was a Beretta .25 before graduating to a .32 Walther PPK. A Walther PP was used in the movies! I once had a .25 Beretta, which I had no complaints about, but sold it and bought a .22 Beretta because of the cost of ammo. I put over 5,000 rounds through it with never a misfire with CCI ammo. I never really saw any difference between the .22 and the .25 either, back in the 1980 s, except the price of ammo.
Ian Fleming was issued a .25 in WWII, and he kept it and it wound up in his estate. Listed as a Browning .25, the 1908 model with grip safety, possibly a FN , however the serial number matches a Colt 1908, .25 .

Thanks for another great vid Paul. I spent over 35 years handling firearms in law enforcement, and everything you tell us Paul, is absolutely 'spot on.' You are one of the very few utube presenters I just can't fault. One thing that was brought home to me over my working years is that in a self defense situation, providing that it is in good working order and you have the necessary skills, any gun is much better than having no gun at all. Yeah, that price surge lasting as long as it did got me out of shooting it. I sold my gun and over 1000 rounds of 22 ammo. I had plenty to shoot, but I just couldn't justify spending comparable cost per bullet to 38spec or 40S&W
In a day of over blown, and I do mean over blown presentation. Paul's careful considered approach is relaxing, refreshing, and even on things I know well, and have put a great deal of thought into, Paul has a way of just adding to it. He is one of the few gun guys that I will actually rewatch videos from.
I can tell youre a smart guy Paul, most of the other ammo comparisons on youtube fail to see the subtle nuances that can skew results from being perfectly fair. Good job brother

Paul has seen the Elephant (more than once) and came out on top. There is no substitute for that and if I'm gonna listen to someone else on this subject it's close to a requirement.
I've been shot with a .22 lr from a small pocket pistol. let me tell ya... IT HURTS A LOT!!! i was lucky and only got shot in the arm. (Bar fight where two guys were fighting and i was an innocent bystander in the bar. one pulled the pistol and fired missing his expected target and hit me in the arm) I can tell you from experience if you get shot with a .22 lr you are done. you don't want to keep advancing on someone. Pay no attention to people who have never been shot who come on youtube trying to tell you that the .22 lr is too weak for self defense. They have never been shot by any caliber firearm. so they are not speaking from expertise or experience. They have no clue unless they have been shot with that caliber. one bullet was enough for me.... nevermind getting shot more than once....
I agree that I'm probably done after getting hit by a pellet rifle but there are definitely people that wouldn't even notice. Especially if some kind of drugs are involved
Ray Davis You were not fighting and likely weren’t in fight or flight mode and weren’t overwhelmed with adrenaline so of course you felt it. When pumped up on drugs/chemicals I.e.adrenaline, it’s not the pain that stops a man, it’s literally stopping the functions of the body. Please think about different ends of the spectrum.
i been shot by a 22 long rifle and drove a 66 no power steering with a 4 speed to the hospital and it took 56 min to get there it didn't hurt for about 15 min but boy did it after that but would not slow me down just u need to hit a good spot then they drop i got shot in the hand from a tweeker trying to break in are shop but he lost that battle i have a mix german shepperd and timber wolf doesn't make a sound lets just say he all most didn't make it to hospital . i just jumped in my truck and left him with the dog my friend saved his life and called the dog off
I had my head blown off by a stick of dynamite. I just duct taped it back to my neck and finished my shift in the mine. Really didn't hurt unless I thought about it.

Erin O'Toole of CPC is def not a centrist and I recommend you check him out. However, vote as you will but if gun ownership is very high on your priority then you'll at least check him out. If you haven't already joined the CCFR, I would highly recommend that as they are fighting the ban in court and please donate to their legal campaign!
@J N Morgan Otoole on the CCFR channel said he would repeal the firearms act in its entirety and replace it with something more friendly to gun owners. Otoole is also against mass immigration from what I know of him. I like Mad Max but I think he would have better chances if he were in the CPC still but I think he is done with them after his leadership run.

EXCELLENT Video ! First honest comparison of the two calibers in small handguns I have ever seen. Definitely sheds a different light on them. I sometimes smile to myself when I tell someone that I do own a 6.35 mm pistol and they are "impressed" yet when I tell them I also have a .25 caliber they remark about how bad that caliber is. LOL
My wife just bought a 1908 Colt .25 acp manufactured in 1927, it feeds perfectly, is easy for her to shoot and accurate at 7-10 yards. She will use it for her Concealed Carry permit this year. I am setting up reloading for the little cartridge, and it looks like a fun project.
Great vid. I’ve been in law enforcement and the security field since 2010, and I’ve seen these little mouse guns do some serious up close and personal damage. I’d recommend a Beretta 25 acp Bob Cat in 25 acp if your going the mouse gun route. If you want to use a 22, I’d go with a revolver due to questionable reliability from rim fire rounds. If one doesn’t go off, pull the trigger till it does. The 22 mag smith and Wesson 7 shot PD is a excellent choice. Just my 2 cents. Stay safe, vigilant, and protect other’s my good people✊
Shove even a little gun in someone’s guts and fife till the targets clothes jam the gun and you will have done some serious damage. So yeah I don’t want to be shot by any gun.
Bill Jordan was asking S&W to make that gun when he wrote "No Second Place Winner" in (iirc) 1960's. It took them long enough but S&W finally got it done. If Mr.Jordan thought it was a good idea, it's damn sure good enough for me!
I think it comes down to this: most of us have a small collection of .22 rimfire rounds that failed to fire. But I for one can’t think of a single time I’ve had a centerfire round fail to go bang. John Browning wasn’t stupid. That was the whole point of him creating the 25. Ballistics aside, the reliability of a 25 versus a 22 alone makes most other issues a moot point.
Very different experiences from mine. I have had one dud out of all the 22 I've ever fired. Even that dud wasn't a dud per se, the bullet just had issues, namely being overloaded so the casing ripped up. Just two weeks ago my buddy's 9mm had three bullets that didn't fire. Had the pin strike, just didn't fire. So it definitely happens with center fire
I can count on one finger how many duds Ive had out of the tens or maybe even hundres of thousands of .22lr ive fired, but then I stay away from remington ammo so that might have something to do with it.
@@capnpicard6146 Remington Cyclone & Thunderbolt .22 LR had a reputation for being dirty, varying velocities and unreliable. Remington Standard velocity and Golden Bullet types were a lot better. PMC used to be lousy also. CCI Blazers seem to be the best of the budget .22 LR. Most of my duds I had over the year were the ones I mentioned.
@@jefferyfite7122 I mostly shoot CCI mini mags and pretty much anything Federal other than American agle. Your mileage may vary but none of my .22's like AE. Ive heard aguila, lapua and elay make some pretty quality .22 but It just impossible to get in my area.

Love these older Paul Harrell videos. Kind of a snapshot in time. Even in the six years since this video the new 22lr ammo and firearms have kept improving. When I'm going lightweight I carry a S&W M&P 22C with magazine conversions to 14rds and two additional 14rd mags.. Running CCI Stingers for carry ammo I'm happy with 43 rounds of 22lr.

Really cool to look back at your older videos. That ammo drought in 2014 is nothing compared to what we have now, 7/18/21. That said, I have a Baby Browning .25, a Beretta 21A .22 and am currently shopping for a Beretta 950 .25 even though I normally carry either a 9mm, .45, or even a revolver in .38/.357, these little pocket guns certainly have their place.
Yep I've kept a lil Beretta Jetfire, and a couple Bobcats since the mid 90s. After searching for 25yrs, I finally found what I've wanted, a Beretta model 20! It's the size of the Jetfire, but double action like the Bobcat. It's perfect!
Given the reliability of quality .22 ammo in a well operating gun is probably around 99%, I'll take my chances using a .22. Also affords me the ability to practice a lot more and have more fun in general. If you are going to buy one and not shoot it much, then .25 ACP would make sense.
I've never understood the use of these pocket pistols, mostly due to lack of exposure. Now I feel more educated and might just go buy one for some plinking. Nice video.

Very enlightening video, thanks. For what it’s worth, I’ve been carrying around a .25 slug in my back for 57 years. A negligent discharge into my left bicep traveled around my rib and lodged a couple of inches from my spine. Army doctors said no need to remove it, so there it sits. No lasting Ill effects.
I bo8ught one of the Ravens for giggles in the mid 70s. I may have gotten a Wednesday gun but it was clean, atleast as accurate as Paul's and never malfunctioned even with the cheap steelcased ammo.
Rimfire/rimmed cartridges in general are hell in semi-autos. Afterall, .25 ACP was designed to have the same ballistics as .22, but in a center-fire package
That's a nice video to show people that .25acp is not junk, i have bought guns and i feel by hand no differences between then and i knew about the fps information you gave us, but some people keeps talking about something they don't know, in my opinion.22lr is for training and plinking, for backup and self defence .25 acp is adequate.
+Tom Well Just to reference your own words about some people talking about something they don't know. I and most real gun people will tell you a .25 is NOT adequate for self defense and a .380 backup gun is much much more powerful at pretty much the same size. The .25 is not really GOOD for anything, not sure why it hasn't died yet.
I don't know what that means can you explain for me? I'm assuming that particular stopping power requires a more sensitive target to be effective - the face.
Hi, VERY well done video comparison! Frankly I was shocked at the penetration of BOTH the .22LR and .25 ACP Hollowpoints! Most "experts" will tell you go with FMJ on both for penetration. You addressed both the Historical and practical aspects of both cartridges. The MAIN point you stressed, which in my Opinion that is most relevant in a self defense scenario with both Rounds is targeting the right area! Excellent vid thoroughly enjoyed it!
Very good comparison and demonstration. I pocket carry either a beretta 21a or a compact 9mm. I’m comfortable with each. Important is to have it with you always
In the dirty South where it is hot AF and humid, these little gems hide in your shorts everywhere you go. Good luck with that and a full sized rig. Those stay in the truck, you just need to break engagement and this works fine. Great video Paul, as usual.

@Rev Marcell: the Beretta Bobcat has double strike capability. Have the 21a & 32acp Tomcat. Very nice arms for me. Fires quality ammo (Federal Auto-match, CCI mini mag on 22lr and Geco 7.65 on the Tomcat) VERY reliably
The boring part of Paul's videos are some of the best parts of all his episodes, which speaks volumes upon volumes of his insight, because his demonstrations are what I would call professional.
I love the Walther TPH for carry, appendix (mini PPK) and got myself a .22 70’s German one. This video made me conclude that I have to add a TPH .25 so my mission is complete BUT the .25 will be my carry and the .22 will be for practice, reliability at all times. Fantastic clear video, professional, humble, super humor, eye popping scenes, that’s it...just thank you Sir!
This was the first Paul Harrell video I saw, and his calm demeanor seemed odd to me. Paul’s reasoning and presentation skills were much different than any other presenter I had seen. A couple years later, and Paul is my go to guy, and I’m a proud Patreon supporter of his channel.
My father decided to clear out his house in preparation to moving... i ended up being given my mothers old .25 ACP from QFI. as i wasnt familiar with this particular firearm i decided to do a bit of research on it and low and behold, i find a Paul Harrell video on .25 ACP. ... thanks Paul, now, let me get back to researching this pistol.
@@GlockPointer yeah , those vary wildly from you'll have one that'll almost never jam to one that you can't get it to run right , usually though most I've seen that are jam o matic have damaged springs or haven't been broken in , or are utterly shot from wear or factory incompetence If it feels gritty , just work the action till that feeling eases up or stops Then oil it If the springs look bent , they're typically just hardware type springs , so you can order them online and not bother with hunting down a specific replacement Just get the size , gauge and strength right If holes seemed to be weirdly shaped or oversized , and the pins are loose , go a size up on spring pins
I use a .32 acp as every day carry (fits right in my pocket) and it made me feel good to hear someone like you say they carry a .25 around most of the time. I'd like to see more videos about mouse guns. Keep up the good work.
I recently subscribed to Paul's channel, so I've a fair bit of catch-up to do, but I really like Paul's approach -- he does a great job of being unbiased, scientific, and still very realistic comparisons (I.e. he doesn't always forego real-world uses to stick to 100% "fair"). And they're easy videos to watch.
Everything you said in this video actually filled all the questions I had about the 25 my grandfather had all kinds of different guns when he was alive as I was a kid and teen he sold alot of them as I became older but he always said that 25 was actually a cool little gun if you got a nice one. His word was gold to me and he never gave me bad info on guns every gun he said I would like I did and he always said why I might like one better then the other BUT he let me shoot them till my heart was content and I could make my own mind up.
One point in favor of the 25 acp is being able to get proper FMJ bullets as opposed to the plated lead found in 22. I've yet to be convinced about the lighter expanding bullets, I prefer the 50gr standard FMJ bullet from the fastest round available to give the best penetration if anything hard gets in the way of the bullet. At the close distances these little guns are meant for, 9 rounds of 25 acp from a fast firing Beretta 950. or similar are going to stop anyone, IMO, if you can hit the target as discussed in the video. No I wouldn't choose 25 acp if I knew I was heading for a fight, but sometimes a little pistol is all you can conceal, or it may be all you have left if your main carry fails or is lost in a scuffle. Those who mock 25 acp would I'm sure rather have one than nothing in a self defense situation.
What a great presentation. I happened to watch it because my older brother is bringing his mint .25ACP Beretta Jetfire down to shoot next month - he bought it new in 1968 before the new law Paul referenced went into effect, and has rarely fired it. Can't wait to try it. While I think there is little doubt that - for most people - .22lr is going to be a more practical choice, this does a great job clearing up a lot of misconceptions out there when these two calibers are compared.

I have a Browning 1906 custom made around 1947 for my great-grandfather, Edward H. Brooks. He was a Major General in the US Army at the time and held the Caribbean command (now Southern Command). During a visit to Chile, the Commander in Chief of the Chilean Military presented him with several honors, one of which was this pocket pistol, the oval on one grip panel reads "Gen'l EHB" (his initials), and the oval on the other grip panel is the Chilean shield. I also have the presentation box and an original box of ammo! Despite it being 70 years old, I keep it cleaned and well oiled, and it shoots well, so I do pocket carry it from time to time when I can't comfortably carry on my hip or appendix.
I'd buy a newer gun in the same config. Don't carry your great-grandfather's pistol around. If you ever had to use it in some "freak" SD situation , it would be confiscated and you might not ever get it back. Not worth the risk of losing it over some fool trying to rob/hurt you , such fool is not worth family history/heirloom.

Paul, Howdy; Just ran across this. Amazing that you decided to cover the subject, or not so much. Chuckle. I do enjoy the depth that you go to, to separate the differences between 2 different calibers, or the not so much differences. Your attention to detail is impeccable even in the early years. And in the end it all boils down to Shot placement.

It's back down to .5 cent a round most places. During the Obama era, you would be lucky to find it at .10 a round, so I'm not complaining.
Yeah, that price surge lasting as long as it did got me out of shooting it. I sold my gun and over 1000 rounds of 22 ammo. I had plenty to shoot, but I just couldn't justify spending comparable cost per bullet to 38spec or 40S&W
Paul is a gentleman and a scholar. American ingenuity and individualism isn't dead yet.
In 2021, 22 ammo is around 20 cents a round last i checked... And it was even more expensive in 2020.
The winner goes to which ever one you have on you when the need arises.
So .25 then because its more likely to go bang.
In a day of over blown, and I do mean over blown presentation. Paul's careful considered approach is relaxing, refreshing, and even on things I know well, and have put a great deal of thought into, Paul has a way of just adding to it. He is one of the few gun guys that I will actually rewatch videos from.

I've been shot with a .22 lr from a small pocket pistol. let me tell ya... IT HURTS A LOT!!! i was lucky and only got shot in the arm. (Bar fight where two guys were fighting and i was an innocent bystander in the bar. one pulled the pistol and fired missing his expected target and hit me in the arm) I can tell you from experience if you get shot with a .22 lr you are done. you don't want to keep advancing on someone. Pay no attention to people who have never been shot who come on youtube trying to tell you that the .22 lr is too weak for self defense. They have never been shot by any caliber firearm. so they are not speaking from expertise or experience. They have no clue unless they have been shot with that caliber. one bullet was enough for me.... nevermind getting shot more than once....

I agree that I'm probably done after getting hit by a pellet rifle but there are definitely people that wouldn't even notice. Especially if some kind of drugs are involved
Ray Davis You were not fighting and likely weren’t in fight or flight mode and weren’t overwhelmed with adrenaline so of course you felt it. When pumped up on drugs/chemicals I.e.adrenaline, it’s not the pain that stops a man, it’s literally stopping the functions of the body. Please think about different ends of the spectrum.
i been shot by a 22 long rifle and drove a 66 no power steering with a 4 speed to the hospital and it took 56 min to get there it didn't hurt for about 15 min but boy did it after that but would not slow me down just u need to hit a good spot then they drop i got shot in the hand from a tweeker trying to break in are shop but he lost that battle i have a mix german shepperd and timber wolf doesn't make a sound lets just say he all most didn't make it to hospital . i just jumped in my truck and left him with the dog my friend saved his life and called the dog off

Erin O'Toole of CPC is def not a centrist and I recommend you check him out. However, vote as you will but if gun ownership is very high on your priority then you'll at least check him out. If you haven't already joined the CCFR, I would highly recommend that as they are fighting the ban in court and please donate to their legal campaign!
@J N Morgan Otoole on the CCFR channel said he would repeal the firearms act in its entirety and replace it with something more friendly to gun owners. Otoole is also against mass immigration from what I know of him. I like Mad Max but I think he would have better chances if he were in the CPC still but I think he is done with them after his leadership run.

EXCELLENT Video ! First honest comparison of the two calibers in small handguns I have ever seen. Definitely sheds a different light on them. I sometimes smile to myself when I tell someone that I do own a 6.35 mm pistol and they are "impressed" yet when I tell them I also have a .25 caliber they remark about how bad that caliber is. LOL

My wife just bought a 1908 Colt .25 acp manufactured in 1927, it feeds perfectly, is easy for her to shoot and accurate at 7-10 yards. She will use it for her Concealed Carry permit this year. I am setting up reloading for the little cartridge, and it looks like a fun project.
Great vid. I’ve been in law enforcement and the security field since 2010, and I’ve seen these little mouse guns do some serious up close and personal damage. I’d recommend a Beretta 25 acp Bob Cat in 25 acp if your going the mouse gun route. If you want to use a 22, I’d go with a revolver due to questionable reliability from rim fire rounds. If one doesn’t go off, pull the trigger till it does. The 22 mag smith and Wesson 7 shot PD is a excellent choice. Just my 2 cents. Stay safe, vigilant, and protect other’s my good people✊

Shove even a little gun in someone’s guts and fife till the targets clothes jam the gun and you will have done some serious damage. So yeah I don’t want to be shot by any gun.
Bill Jordan was asking S&W to make that gun when he wrote "No Second Place Winner" in (iirc) 1960's. It took them long enough but S&W finally got it done. If Mr.Jordan thought it was a good idea, it's damn sure good enough for me!
I think it comes down to this: most of us have a small collection of .22 rimfire rounds that failed to fire. But I for one can’t think of a single time I’ve had a centerfire round fail to go bang. John Browning wasn’t stupid. That was the whole point of him creating the 25. Ballistics aside, the reliability of a 25 versus a 22 alone makes most other issues a moot point.
@Kjs you dont shoot .22 enough then. Very common to have multiple duds out of a box of .22.
Very different experiences from mine. I have had one dud out of all the 22 I've ever fired. Even that dud wasn't a dud per se, the bullet just had issues, namely being overloaded so the casing ripped up. Just two weeks ago my buddy's 9mm had three bullets that didn't fire. Had the pin strike, just didn't fire. So it definitely happens with center fire
I can count on one finger how many duds Ive had out of the tens or maybe even hundres of thousands of .22lr ive fired, but then I stay away from remington ammo so that might have something to do with it.
@@capnpicard6146 Remington Cyclone & Thunderbolt .22 LR had a reputation for being dirty, varying velocities and unreliable. Remington Standard velocity and Golden Bullet types were a lot better. PMC used to be lousy also. CCI Blazers seem to be the best of the budget .22 LR. Most of my duds I had over the year were the ones I mentioned.
@@jefferyfite7122 I mostly shoot CCI mini mags and pretty much anything Federal other than American agle. Your mileage may vary but none of my .22's like AE. Ive heard aguila, lapua and elay make some pretty quality .22 but It just impossible to get in my area.

Love these older Paul Harrell videos. Kind of a snapshot in time. Even in the six years since this video the new 22lr ammo and firearms have kept improving. When I'm going lightweight I carry a S&W M&P 22C with magazine conversions to 14rds and two additional 14rd mags.. Running CCI Stingers for carry ammo I'm happy with 43 rounds of 22lr.

That said, I have a Baby Browning .25, a Beretta 21A .22 and am currently shopping for a Beretta 950 .25 even though I normally carry either a 9mm, .45, or even a revolver in .38/.357, these little pocket guns certainly have their place.

It's the size of the Jetfire, but double action like the Bobcat.

Given the reliability of quality .22 ammo in a well operating gun is probably around 99%, I'll take my chances using a .22. Also affords me the ability to practice a lot more and have more fun in general. If you are going to buy one and not shoot it much, then .25 ACP would make sense.

Very enlightening video, thanks. For what it’s worth, I’ve been carrying around a .25 slug in my back for 57 years. A negligent discharge into my left bicep traveled around my rib and lodged a couple of inches from my spine. Army doctors said no need to remove it, so there it sits. No lasting Ill effects.
Back in the late 70s a gun dealer friend recommended the 25 over the 22 because the 22s jammed more often and had much more lead build up to clean.
That and centerfire primer is in general more reliable.

I bo8ught one of the Ravens for giggles in the mid 70s. I may have gotten a Wednesday gun but it was clean, atleast as accurate as Paul's and never malfunctioned even with the cheap steelcased ammo.
Rimfire/rimmed cartridges in general are hell in semi-autos. Afterall, .25 ACP was designed to have the same ballistics as .22, but in a center-fire package
For shure but my 22 sig with modern amo performs better than my cz 75...witch is a legend when it comes to relaybilty.
That's a nice video to show people that .25acp is not junk, i have bought guns and i feel by hand no differences between then and i knew about the fps information you gave us, but some people keeps talking about something they don't know, in my opinion.22lr is for training and plinking, for backup and self defence .25 acp is adequate.
+Tom Well Just to reference your own words about some people talking about something they don't know. I and most real gun people will tell you a .25 is NOT adequate for self defense and a .380 backup gun is much much more powerful at pretty much the same size. The .25 is not really GOOD for anything, not sure why it hasn't died yet.

Hi, VERY well done video comparison! Frankly I was shocked at the penetration of BOTH the .22LR and .25 ACP Hollowpoints! Most "experts" will tell you go with FMJ on both for penetration. You addressed both the Historical and practical aspects of both cartridges. The MAIN point you stressed, which in my Opinion that is most relevant in a self defense scenario with both Rounds is targeting the right area! Excellent vid thoroughly enjoyed it!
Very good comparison and demonstration. I pocket carry either a beretta 21a or a compact 9mm. I’m comfortable with each. Important is to have it with you always

In the dirty South where it is hot AF and humid, these little gems hide in your shorts everywhere you go. Good luck with that and a full sized rig. Those stay in the truck, you just need to break engagement and this works fine. Great video Paul, as usual.

I think that if I am using a revolver, the .22 is the best choice. The .22 is a very deadly round. In an auto loader the only choice is the .25.
@Rev Marcell: the Beretta Bobcat has double strike capability. Have the 21a & 32acp Tomcat. Very nice arms for me. Fires quality ammo (Federal Auto-match, CCI mini mag on 22lr and Geco 7.65 on the Tomcat) VERY reliably
The boring part of Paul's videos are some of the best parts of all his episodes, which speaks volumes upon volumes of his insight, because his demonstrations are what I would call professional.
I love the Walther TPH for carry, appendix (mini PPK) and got myself a .22 70’s German one. This video made me conclude that I have to add a TPH .25 so my mission is complete BUT the .25 will be my carry and the .22 will be for practice, reliability at all times. Fantastic clear video, professional, humble, super humor, eye popping scenes, that’s it...just thank you Sir!

This was the first Paul Harrell video I saw, and his calm demeanor seemed odd to me. Paul’s reasoning and presentation skills were much different than any other presenter I had seen. A couple years later, and Paul is my go to guy, and I’m a proud Patreon supporter of his channel.
My father decided to clear out his house in preparation to moving... i ended up being given my mothers old .25 ACP from QFI. as i wasnt familiar with this particular firearm i decided to do a bit of research on it and low and behold, i find a Paul Harrell video on .25 ACP. ... thanks Paul, now, let me get back to researching this pistol.
I have one, a true Saturday night special. It jams every other round or so. Gotta be a 10# trigger pull.
@@GlockPointer yeah , those vary wildly from you'll have one that'll almost never jam to one that you can't get it to run right , usually though most I've seen that are jam o matic have damaged springs or haven't been broken in , or are utterly shot from wear or factory incompetence
If it feels gritty , just work the action till that feeling eases up or stops
Then oil it
If the springs look bent , they're typically just hardware type springs , so you can order them online and not bother with hunting down a specific replacement
Just get the size , gauge and strength right
If holes seemed to be weirdly shaped or oversized , and the pins are loose , go a size up on spring pins

I use a .32 acp as every day carry (fits right in my pocket) and it made me feel good to hear someone like you say they carry a .25 around most of the time. I'd like to see more videos about mouse guns. Keep up the good work.
I recently subscribed to Paul's channel, so I've a fair bit of catch-up to do, but I really like Paul's approach -- he does a great job of being unbiased, scientific, and still very realistic comparisons (I.e. he doesn't always forego real-world uses to stick to 100% "fair"). And they're easy videos to watch.
Everything you said in this video actually filled all the questions I had about the 25 my grandfather had all kinds of different guns when he was alive as I was a kid and teen he sold alot of them as I became older but he always said that 25 was actually a cool little gun if you got a nice one. His word was gold to me and he never gave me bad info on guns every gun he said I would like I did and he always said why I might like one better then the other BUT he let me shoot them till my heart was content and I could make my own mind up.

One point in favor of the 25 acp is being able to get proper FMJ bullets as opposed to the plated lead found in 22. I've yet to be convinced about the lighter expanding bullets, I prefer the 50gr standard FMJ bullet from the fastest round available to give the best penetration if anything hard gets in the way of the bullet. At the close distances these little guns are meant for, 9 rounds of 25 acp from a fast firing Beretta 950. or similar are going to stop anyone, IMO, if you can hit the target as discussed in the video. No I wouldn't choose 25 acp if I knew I was heading for a fight, but sometimes a little pistol is all you can conceal, or it may be all you have left if your main carry fails or is lost in a scuffle. Those who mock 25 acp would I'm sure rather have one than nothing in a self defense situation.

What a great presentation. I happened to watch it because my older brother is bringing his mint .25ACP Beretta Jetfire down to shoot next month - he bought it new in 1968 before the new law Paul referenced went into effect, and has rarely fired it. Can't wait to try it. While I think there is little doubt that - for most people - .22lr is going to be a more practical choice, this does a great job clearing up a lot of misconceptions out there when these two calibers are compared.

I have a Browning 1906 custom made around 1947 for my great-grandfather, Edward H. Brooks. He was a Major General in the US Army at the time and held the Caribbean command (now Southern Command). During a visit to Chile, the Commander in Chief of the Chilean Military presented him with several honors, one of which was this pocket pistol, the oval on one grip panel reads "Gen'l EHB" (his initials), and the oval on the other grip panel is the Chilean shield. I also have the presentation box and an original box of ammo!
Despite it being 70 years old, I keep it cleaned and well oiled, and it shoots well, so I do pocket carry it from time to time when I can't comfortably carry on my hip or appendix.

I'd buy a newer gun in the same config. Don't carry your great-grandfather's pistol around. If you ever had to use it in some "freak" SD situation , it would be confiscated and you might not ever get it back. Not worth the risk of losing it over some fool trying to rob/hurt you , such fool is not worth family history/heirloom.
