    My mother had those ventilator curlers in the bathroom and laying around the house. They were pink. I remember them during this commercial.

    Good show. The old guy met his match and more with Groucho and he knew it. I don't think anybody has ever been quite as fast-thinking and witty as Groucho. No one before or since like him.

      I know, with her italian accent and with her obvious confidence in her pizza, it has to be one of the best!
      I can't even hear an italian name without it making me hungry (lol)
      I love great food, and the italians are absolute geniuses at it!

      SuperWinterborn She was something else, all right. No wonder they had her on the show 3 times! I'm so glad I finally got a copy of the middle of these three shows (thanks to a very nice guy in Australia who sent it to me).

      @@mcctravel Google, there's fully restored turn key DeSoto's for sale. In my experience stay away from the classic car dealers, try getting one from private owner's plus looking in Hemmings Motor News, 1000s of classic cars. A 57 Desoto should set you back mint for about 30k, that's about what a new Chevy is..

      @@mcctravel Just don't drive it in salt if you're in the salt belt states. I had a vintage car for almost 20 years it was a lot of fun and met a lot of friends at car shows, cruise ins and the drag strip, (I had a 66 400 hp Galaxie 500 XL) it's a lot of fun and my car never broke down on me

    Thanks for posting these wonderful shows. My wife and I were born about ten years after these aired originally, but they were still being aired on reruns. We grew up on these and many other classic TV shows. Back then we only had 5 channels! :)

    That $5,000 would be about $55,000 in today's money. I liked Groucho, he was very funny, and a perfect fit for this show. We'll see if Jay Leno can cut the mustard, lol.

      Yep. 100 doesn’t seem like much to the losers but it’s 1000 today which isn’t too bad. It helps to understand how saving money in a can works. Saving 100 in a can then would only be worth 100 now. It’s better than spending it all back then though. Keeping up with inflation is important. If you gained every year though you could do well. I’ve been learning about that lately because of things my family did.

    They screwed that old guy. Where did King Arthur have his court? Oh well, common practice in those days. There was no mercy on the questions for foreign people either. And Betina was 100% correct.
